Saw the review on BA and decided to check this place out. Its around the corner from the tap Room a block behind the square where drips coffee used to be.

Atmosphere: Kinda sparse and art deco/new age with some impresonist style art on the walls and such. Dim lighting kinda like a jazz bar. It was a little strange to be honest but theve just opened so maybe itll come around later.

Quality: All the beer seemed to be well taken care of and was not too cold. All beer was served with a nice head and in a room temp glass.

Service: Most of the wait staff was johnny on the spot with everything. However after about an hour they started to pay waay more attention to stocking glass ware and less toward customers. Also the two guys behind the bar were a little too quite and stand offish for bartenders. Anyway point is they got my stuff quick and were chill.

Selection: For hickory it was great. had about 15 beers on tap all craft. no BMC on tap. had some not so often found beers like Fullers ESB on tap. They had some BMC in bottles. They were a little too heavy on IPAs and Stouts, however, most beer styles were represented except Belgiums. They had a good number of NC beers. Green man, highland, Nattys, and I think a duck rabbit.

Food: I had a Reuban it was above average but no earth shattering. Most food was sandwiches/wraps and bar food. They did have a good selection of veggie food wich I will def try in the future.

Overall I will def return and make this a regular spot to drink good beer in.

I just moved to Hickory, NC the other week with my girlfriend. She's vegan, I'm not but I eat almost all of the vegan food she eats. We looked up some cool places that offer both foods and found this place was 15 minutes away. Very impressed by their beer selection. Almost every pint was $4-5, and they had Founders Devil Dancer! They also had 6-7 of the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Collaborations on tap! Haven't been able to find that anywhere. They also have Brewery takeovers from local breweries in NC (there's a TON). The food was delicious, and a decent sized menu. I ate the Smoked Pork Quesadillas with mushrooms and my girlfriend got Vegan Nachos. She drank a pineapple cider and I had King coconut porter by catawba brewing. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good beer and food for pretty cheap

Loved their flatbread pizza. The biggest draw for Crescent Moon is their beer selection - 27 beers on tap and a Pint Night every Wednesday where they feature one particular brewery with 5-6 of their beers and souvenir glasses. The prices are ridiculously cheap. Had a BCBS on tap for $5. Anywhere else around here would most likely charge $8-10. Also, the only place in Hickory so far that carries Wicked Weed - if you haven't had Freak of Nature then get to Crescent Moon.

I recently moved to Hickory and was on the search for some restaurants with great craft beer selection. This place is definitely it. They have about 30 beers on tap and they rotate frequently. They have a diverse selection so I think you or a group wouldn't have a problem finding something you'd like. Each time I was there, they had a beer flight special which I thought was cool. I sat at the bar both times I went, and the bartender provided great service. The owner (I believe) was there and gave me a few free samples from Stone, which was nice of him. I have tried their sandwiches and it's good. I think the food is average. Nothing that will blow you away, but definitely good and reasonably priced. I highly recommend checking this place out, you won't be disappointed.

Visited here Dec 28, 2012. Man, Hickory has changed a shitload since I left back in '99. I still go home several times a year but the beer culture is really growing there and it makes me jealous. This place was awesome. I cant think of another place in Hickory as good as this. Most places will have some craft beer on draft and it is stuff that is found at many other bars and restaurants. These guys had shit I had never seen in Hickory before. Founders Breakfast Stout, Bells Christmas, and many others. They had one barrel aged stout that was outstanding but my memory has let me down on which beer it was. If I was a local, I would be at this place many times per week.

Even the food was good. I had a reuben and it was delicious. I cant wait for my next trip home so I can go back here again. Top notch joint!

first time visiting from Wilmington and was most definitely surprised by this cool little spot. as soon as i walked in the door i knew this was my kinda place. everyone was very friendly and very knowledgeable about their beers. huge awesome bar inside, definitely a custom job. alot bigger of a place than i expected. the later in the evening the more crowded it got which, again was another pleasant surprise because it gave me a chance to do one of my favorite things, meet new people and talk about beer. friendly staff, great selection, and very reasonable prices all made for one great evening, i would go back.

A- Really cool. Lighting is nice and creates multiple glows/hues to the place, art from one of the owners and photos from one of the bartenders on the walls, dart boards in the back, and totally awesome moon-shaped concrete bar. Great big group table in the middle of the place for parties. They've got gigantic jenga that is fun at times. Most of the times it just startles me. I would call the place "hip", but that word has a bad rap these days.

Q- Great.

S- Great. Most folks are really knowledgable with the beers on tap and food service is quick if they aren't slammed, which should be understood given the nature of their food.

S2- Awesome. 29 taps I believe of consistently amazing stuff. There is always a 5 minute study session whenever I go in to figure out exactly what I should get. Most of the time it's hard to narrow it down to 2 or 3 great beers that I haven't had.

F- Really good food. Great sandwiches, sauces, soups, dips, and chips. The cheese plate seems expensive, but it will really fill two people up if you get the largest one. Goat cheese.... mmmm.

V- Totally reasonable. You get what you pay for.

Conveniently located in downtown Hickory, only a 2 block walk from the Olde Hickory tap room. Given a choice between the two I choose Crecent Moon, just a cool cafe atmosphere with excellent low priced food. And lots of taps, all serving quality beers.

The beer offerings included DFH, Oskar Blues (3 of which were short run beers), Founders, Bells, and other assorted high quality breweries from throughout the USA. Oddly there was a small number of North Carolina beers, but still that's cool for a dinner spot. You can always go to Olde Hickory for after-dinner drinking.

All appetizers and sandwiches were <$10, and everything tasted awesome. Good service, good beers, cheap and delicious food, what's not to like. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to have a beer in Hickory. Super selection any time you stop in. Not your average bar/pub feel going on here, which I see as an asset. It's just a laid-back establishment, with a great vibe throughout.

The food is outstanding as well. There isn't a huge variation of menu items, but what's there is awesome. Try any quesadilla or the nachos.

The staff generally consists of people who have worked in this area for a long time. Brian, one of the owners, is usually there during my visits at lunch, and is a joy to chat with about beer. Super nice, knowledgeable guy.

Hickory really needed this place. There's a great focus on variety and the rotation of quality beer. Stop in and enjoy a beer. I may see ya there.

Revisited several times in early December 2011, bumping up the service score. Selection is still great, a little less focus on NC beers, but still some good regional offerings. They also rotated/featured Green lash & then 21st Amendment the next week & are doing pint glass nights

This place has a nice artsy kind of vibe. This is a great place to relax & kick back

Visited twice, all beers were in great form

My only real knock on the place. Although the servers are friendly, a couple would rather chat with their friends than do their jobs

Great variety of NC, regional & other brewers. Export selection may be the only chink in their armor. I personally prefer local stuff to be on tap & at least a quarter of the taps represent. They had a firkin of Sculpin the previous night ( was too tired after coming back from the beach to enjoy ) & they had a Heavy seas pils filtered through citrus fruit, yummy ). Dogfish head, Southern Tier, Sprecher, Left Hand, Bell's & many more on draft, over 24 taps, none wasted

Both times I ate there I loved the the food. Variety is perhaps a bit limited, but I'll take quality over quantity any day

Good value for food & drink

This is a place I'll visit again the next time I'm home, easily the best tap selection in town

This is located where the old Drip's used to be for those familiar with downtown Hickory.

Very open, spacious. It's somewhat dark in there, with dim purple lighting. But comfortable. Pretty big bar area with an excellent selection of beers on draft. 27 rotating offerings, typically all craft unless PBR finds a way on. You can tell that they are focused on quality and variety, lots of choices that you won't see elsewhere in town. Green Man was on last time I was there and they don't tend to go outside of Asheville, so that's a big plus. Sculpin was on for the opening. Great, knowledgeable folks working there also. The owner often works the bar, which is about as personable as you can get. Food is currently basic stuff. Sandwiches, wraps, etc. But very nice. I believe they're trying to offer more elaborate dishes in the future but certain codes have prevented that happening so far. Prices are more than reasonable. I don't mind paying $6 for a pint that I won't find in town and I also enjoy more standard local offerings for $3.50. Food is priced well, my sandwich and side were $7. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
