Bottle from the single pile at the LCBO.

Poured a clear yellow-gold color decent white cap reduced quickly. Grainy aroma some sweetness no discernable hop note in the nose.

Flavour profile is pretty much what you smell. Modest pale malt some hints of norther brewer hops and a clean finish.

Another pale lager with no character. when will we out grow this under achievement by craft brewers with potential

Bought this one solely for the stubby! That, and I've never heard of it before, which for me is a pretty much automatic purchase.

Pours a slightly opaque, rich golden colour. Left about a 2 inch head that simply would not go away. Left foamy lacing around the glass, and a thin layer on the surface. Did not expect this!

The smell is intriguing, almost confusing. Was not sure how to classify this one. Lemony, juicy hops and malts that, like a previous reviewer mentioned, felt a little off, almost burnt. Not unpleasant, just...strange.

The taste is unlike most lagers I've had recently. Malty at the front, hoppy lemon bitterness at the back. After taste is a bit tinny, but overall, nothing to offend.

Mouthfeel is very carbonated. I thought after the head issue at the beginning the carbonation would die off, but it didn't. Too carbonated, actually; very burpy.

All and all, I really don't know what to make of this beer. I don't think I like it, but I can't really place why. I wonder if this bottle is a bit old, because I'm not getting any of the blandness other reviewers have picked up. Not sure I'll get this one again.

Just came in from deck-building on a very humid day, and I have one of these open beside me right now. As soon as it's gone I'll be opening another. Nice summer refresher.
Not much head, not much lacing except for a thin ring around the glass, but it's very pleasing to look at: very clear, and a nice deep gold colour. Taste is malty up front with an enjoyably bitter hoppy finish. It's a bit like a macro lager with flavour. I like lager, and I like this one a lot.

It's a shame when you find a new local beer and it is poor. This is certainly the case with Riverkeeper.

It poured clear bronze colour but a touch or two darker than your typical lager. The 1 finger head quickly receded to nothing and it stays that way. The apperance is of apple juice.

The smell is sweet malts with slightly off vegetables. It's not nice. The taste is unfortunately is even worse. Bad vegetables and soggy cardboard are all that can be found.

The mouthfeel is flat and drinkability is not good. I got through about an eighth of it before dumping the rest down the drain.

6 pack from the lcbo. Bottled 25 june 2009

Served into a pint glass.

A- Golden color with not much head even after an aggressive pour. Lively carbonation. Big bubbles.

S- Mildly malty aroma with some slightly floral and fruity wiffs.

T- Surprising. Sweet malt up front with hops that lend a grassy and fruity character. I'm not sure why but it works and gives the beer balance with slight bitterness to speak of. Theres a wholesome aspect to the beer.

M- Light bodied. Carbonation is a little flat.

D- Ok drinkability

Overall nothing spectacular in terms of flavor but decent enough that you could enjoy a couple. Its pretty sessionable at 4.5%. Unfortunately its not worth $12.45 a six pack.

Brewed by Heritage Brewing in Carleton Place Ontario. This beer's sales benefit the Ottawa Riverkeepers an organization dedicated to protecting the Ottawa River.

I suspected that this beer might not be up to par but it's surprisingly good. It's not an amazing beer but certainly well crafted. It's best served chilled and is crisp and malty and very refreshing. I would in fact buy this again.

12oz bottle. Labelled for the 175th anniversary of the Rideau Canal, but I don't know if the brew inside is at all different. Pours a pale gold with tons of head and carbonation. Little to no aroma. The flavour starts off pretty basic, but gets markedly better with the aftertaste - though I note that the beer description boasts "no aftertaste" (WHY???).

Pours a clear orange-gold, with a 2 cm head of white suds. The head remained as lace in a most excellent manner.

The aroma is mostly hoppy with notes of celery and grass, and a touch of lemon, nutmeg, and beeswax.

The mouthfeel is crisp, with medium carbonation.

The taste is fairly big on the hops without ever being a hop demon. There's a sour lemon tang, a mild-medium bitter finish, and some honey sweet malt.

All in all, this is better than Heritage's Traditional Dark in the taste department, but that's not saying much.

An old fashioned stubby bottle. Pours with a small head no retention and little lacing. A clear golden colour.

Smells and tastes like a macro (IMO). Nothing spectacular in the nose, slight malt sweetness, a bit of skunk and just a bit of hops.

The taste is just a notch above a good macro ( that ain't saying much). Sweet with a light hop finish. Not one I would recommend but I would not turn it down. Refreshing but bland.

The search for a good local lager continues...

Anyway, this one's a standard macro in appearance except the head is a bit stickier and fuller. Oddly fruity/plum aroma for a macro - same aroma as the 2 other Heritage beers I've had so they either have a special yeast or special infection of some sort. Maybe the vats weren't cleaned after they made their seasonal fruit offering?

Light bitterness, a touch of artificial fruit flavour. Medium bodied for a macro, and not bad in drinkability. No really impressed.

Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color lager with a small white head with minimal retention. Aroma of weak malt with no floral or sweetness characteristic. Taste is drier then expected with some malt presence. Hops are clearly not a big part of this beer. I guess this is a good beer for people who want to make the jump from macro to micro but nothing to get me excited.

Usual in appearance of many lager, golden crisp and yellow, a medium carbonisation with not many bubbles dancing around. No head retention, it came then dissapeared just to say hi. Smell caramel, malt with a shy touch of hops. Taste very shy, but smooth, some hops comes into play, the caramel flavours that are present to the nose are not quite present for the palate. Some fruity touch, even some peachy flavours.

This brew would be better reviewed as a "lite" lager and its score would improve with this distinction.
A very pretty beer, arrived a very clear golden yellow with a full one fingered crown and extremly lively carbonation, a full lace and high glass ring remained after half this beveridge was consumed as well as a mountainous cling to the top of the glass.
The body is a medium at best.
The nose is lightly floral.
The taste is very well balanced to begin and ends to a hoppy velvety end.
Definetly a session beer.
If this was marketed as a "lite", It woulds almost be perfect.

Appearance: served from a "stubby". a golden coloured lager, very clear with a small white head.

Smell: very fresh and floral. light hoppiness in the nose with a hints of wheat.

Taste: very nice hoppiness off the top. a lager that is more smooth than crisp. the hop bitterness lingers nice and long and leaves a nice well balance finish. reminds me of Mill St Organic Lager.

Mouthfeel: very light and fresh with a extremely smooth body.

Drinkability: a good thirst quencher with decent body. maybe a little too smooth and light tasting but still, above average.
