Was in town visiting family over Thanksgiving, and happened to be around for a Ballast Point and Tombstone brewing tap takeover event.
Flanny's is located in a strip mall, just a stone's throw from hiway 101 (so very easy to get to with plenty of parking). The place has the look and feel of a sports bar, with a fair number of flat screen TV's (not an overwhelming amount), all turned to various sporting events. The place has something of Chili's/Applebee's vibe to it, but with some beer mirrors/poster adorning the walls. Flanny's struck me as very much a no frills taphouse, but still a comfortable enough place to hang out with a beer or three on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving day.
In terms of beer selection, I think Flanny's had roughly 23 or beers on tap, with a similar number of can and bottle options (tap selections are on one side of the menu, with the bottle/can selections on the other side). On this particular day there was a nice selection of Tombstone and BP beer on tap (including bourbon BA Victory at Sea, I was happy to see), along with a number of other local and regional offerings. I checked out the taplist online prior to the tap takeover event, and they had things like the 2016 BCBS and 2016 Parabola on tap as well, so that will give you an idea about the quality of the taplist (in other words, it's pretty good).
Service was OK. Our waitress didn't strike me as super knowledgeable in terms of the current tap selection (her description of the beers appeared to be a memorized recitation of the basics in terms of beer styles), but she was pleasant enough. There was a pretty decent size crowd on the Wednesday we visited, and so waits for a beer, food or margarita were a bit protracted at times.
Food here seemed to be your fairly basic pub grub, but with a SW twist. There were street tacos and chili infused mac n cheese on the menu, along with burgers, sliders, nachos, etc. That being said, everything we had was pretty tasty, and I enjoyed the buffalo sauce chicken sliders I ordered (each order comes with 3 fair size sliders for around $10.49).
All and all, we had a pretty nice time at Flanny's, and I'd definitely come here again if I happened to be in town. The only criticism I'd make about this place was the pricing, which struck me as on the high side. Pints of pales ales, porters, IPA's and the like ranged from $6.50 to $8.50, and that's before tax. BA and higher abv. beers come in 10 ounce glasses for roughly the same price or a bit more (I think the BA Victory at Sea was $10 for 10 ounce glass). I'm not familiar with the Tempe area, so for all I know the pricing here may be entirely normal, but it struck me as a bit high.
Other than that, this is a very solid spot in the South Tempe area.

Great place to find a large selection of craft beer in AZ, and you have to credit to a place that has monthly tap takeovers from breweries around the nation. The owner/manager has his/her pulse on the trends and understands there is a large population of craft beer lovers in AZ.

I went to Flanny's to have the special keg of Firestone Parabola (which was amazing by the way). Their wings were fantastic and the waitstaff was great! They have a very casual atmosphere and they brought in a live band. Great place to sit and enjoy a beer.

Flanny's is definitely filling a giant void for craftbeer in southern Tempe. It's a laid back place with some of the most friendly waitstaff we've encountered and a local-owned vibe. I wish they had had a few more offerings on the draft menu, but typically there is a decent option for all types of beer drinker. They offer up great burgers / mac n' cheese and even throw in a solid daily dish that you wish was a regular offering on the menu fairly often. I've got to hand them props especially for the events they put on. It seems that every other week has a notable event, whether its an out-of-state tap takeover or a beer-pairing dinner hosted by one of the other local craftbrewers. If you're in south Tempe, or heck if you're anywhere in the valley, I'd say a trip over to Flanny's for a laid back session of drinks and good food is in order.

Nice sports bar with craft beer decor. Good size TV's, central bar with lots of tables. Wasn't crowded when we were there so the noise level was fine. The service was great, very friendly and fast. Good beer and food selection and they fill growlers of beers on tap. I had the fish and chips and it was very good, other things ordered were pulled pork sliders and turkey club and they were very good also. Water had a slight clorine taste which is something that really annoys me because filters are so cheap these days. Value for what you get here is very reasonable and we would go back next time we're in the area.

Gotta love Flanny's.
Flanny's is a place in the Valley I love to support becuase I feel it's a bar for people like me. Flanny's is the kind of place I like to go to and don't mind dropping $50+ for a tap take-over event and food.
Flanny's is pretty simple in design the the entire place basically centered around a large, open bar. Basic bottle selection but always have a great variety on tap and the absolute best place in town for events like a tap take-over. I love coming here on Thursdays when they have these because the people here are all great, totally into good brew and everyone seems to be respectful of the beer.
Food was average, seating capacity is decent and a small cooler for to-go beer.
If you're in the Chandler area, stop in.

My journey to Flanny's began innocently enough; typing "craft beer bar Tempe" into Google. Decided to stop in.
Since then, Flanny's has become a destination spot.
Nice not-your-typical-dive-bar atmosphere, great service, friendly owners, and great food (the Chipotle Mac N Cheese is a MUST) make this special, but of course lets get to the beers!
Flanny's features a rotating craft beer selection of approx 15-18 craft beers both common and obscure. You are sure to find an old favorite or an intriguing newcomer worth a try. On the third Thursday of every month, they host "Tap Takeovers" from a who's who in craft brewing (Stone, SN, Oskar Blues, etc). They also have a nicely stocked cooler of rare craft bombers.
I would highly recommend Flanny's to any craft beer fans in the Tempe area.
On a side note, the bartender on Sunday mornings makes a MEAN Bloody Mary. :)

Stopped here on 9-11-12 on recommendations from BA. Must admit It was all I have read about. John the owner or manager was very into the craft beer scene and enthusiastic to say the least.Very helpful in where to go for the local craft breweries.
They had an awesome tap list when I was there and had an ample can list as well. This is a definite stop for craft beer enthusiasts when in Phoenix. I highly recommend stopping here on your Phoenix visits.
I did not partake in the food as I had a liquid lunch and a good one at that.
Overall two thumbs up for this FL BA visiting from Florida.

Fantastic place - one of the best beer joints in the Valley of the Sun. I've been coming here regularly for the past year and highly recommend it.
Twenty taps rotate regularly and they are expanding to 30 at the end of this summer. The third Thursday of every month is given over to a "tap takeover" when all the taps are devoted to the beers from a single brewery (e.g. last night was Odell). The owner - who seems to work most evenings - and the staff are friendly and know their beer.
They've recently added take-out. Craft bombers are reasonable prices.
The food is typical bar food - serviceable but nothing to write home about. But food is not the reason why you come here.

Stopped by Flanny's for a Firestone Walker event a couple weeks ago, and was very pleased with my visit. The place was full, no seats anywhere, but the guy running the place assured me that he would find a seat for myself and friends. Everyone working there was extremely nice and helpful, and aside from the Firestone Walker beer they offered for that night only, their beer list was pretty decent. It had a good, small-town atmosphere, and has live music events from time to time. I will definitely be returning for a drink.

Flanny's Bar and Grill hit the spot. I was in the South Tempe area craving a pint and stopped by to check out what they had going tap and food wise. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a great selection of local beers, and included flyers that they would be unveiling the new Santan Winter Warmer soon. The owners were friendly and very knowledgable about beer, and they had 16 taps 13 of which are great beers that all snobs would occasionaly order. The atmosphere was lacking, but they said they had only opened a month ago so I am curious to see how it changes.

I had stopped in to Flanny's once before right after they opened. Immediately I was taken back by the look of the place. Modern but not overly so. well spaced and the granite bar does well as the focal point. their tap selection easily beats other bars of similar size. The menu of local, craft, and import beers, allows even the most choosy beer snob a good selection. Also had a nice atmosphere. not to dark, good music, and enough tv's to enjoy a game. my leaving thought was to definitely return to peruse the tap selection.
However it wasn't until my second visit that I saw the true potential of Flanny's. Beer is great, don't get me wrong, but there is something to be said for a place that has great beer AND great food. I've been to many a bar and brewery that have one or the other and I always leave craving more from my experience. Flanny's Bar and Grill hit the jackpot by having great beers on tap/bottle, great food, knowledgable staff, and great prices for the portions.
Highly recommend the stop in for a beer or two and some food. Cheers.

Its only been a few weeks that this bar has been open.. Sort of a sports bar.. Nice big bar with granite bar. Very nice & classy. Couple couches for a lounge style setting..Tvs with sports on. Low lighting but not extremely low. Beer selection wasn't too shabby. Stone IPA, Green Flash West Coast IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout, Delerium Tremens, Bells Oberon, Paulaner Hefeweizen, Pilsner Urquel, Anchor Christmas & a few locals which is nice to see.. I counted at least 14 taps I believe. Decent bottle selection as well. Prices are very reasonable. Service is friendly & pretty timely. Both times I went it wasn't packed, which is nice (Friday & a Sunday night).. Met the owner who is a nice gentleman.. Allowed me to purchase a Left Hand Milk Stout glass :)
They served $3.5 pours of the Abyss
Note: this place will gradually improve there tap selections.. Upon first visit I suggested they get Stone, Ballast Point, along with other good west coasters. Next weekend I went in they had Stone IPA on tap!
Edit: had to bump up the score for selection.. since initial review Sculpin IPA, Lucky Bastard, & tomorrow HopSlam will have all been tapped here.. and more goodies to come
Edit2: have too add New Belgium Lips of Faith Vrienden, Dunkleweissen, SN Ovilla, Odell Myrcenery to tap list.
