First had: on tap at the brewpub
Deep darker amber pour with a thin white head. Distant aroma, sweet malts, caramel, overripe fruit. Taste was pretty basic, sweet caramel malts, mildly roasty, some mineral notes that seemed misplaced. Nothing really special going on here, but it's not entirely bad if you're not picky. Light-medium body, low carb.

On tap at the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy to transparent burnt red color. Bar pour’s slim white head dissipates pretty quickly. Ringy lacing clings to the glass. The smell starts off with rich sweet caramel malts up front allowing gentle roasty nuts and toffee to balance. Light toast as well. The taste was mainly sweet with a moderate toast and roastiness balancing it all out. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nice and low. Sweetness comes across dry on my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Irish Red ale.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a muddled, copper-amber coloring with a thin, filmy head. Muddled, subtle caramel and nut sweet nose, but borders on weak. Tangy sweet caramel flavors, with hints of roast and nutty highlights. Balanced, but light flavors. The aftertaste is roasted and tangy, on a thin, watery body. Clean, slick finish. A bit forgettable.

Had this one as a first beer with lunch. While the coloring and aroma were on style, the taste was definitely off. After taste was quite salty.I have not encountered this taste profile before. Something was not right, so I stopped drinking after a few sips.
