This beer was once produced at the Abbey of Paix Dieu, where the lunar calendar played a central role. In keeping with the spirit of the Abbey, the Brasserie maintains the tradition of brewing only once a month, during the Full Moon.

The result?

A triple 10% brew which is smooth and full of character; a craft beer in the tradition of Belgian abbey beers. A symbol on each bottle will help you decipher under which moon your beer was brewed. This way you can compare the different brews you enjoy.

I am going to be a bit harsh and strict here.
I had two beautiful crowncap bottles (no brace like the pic here) .
330 ml brown glass, curvy, special and with a moon picture up front.
Credirs for that,
It pours like gods peace, Good carbonation, medium sized bubbles, two finger head with good retention.
Obviously a well made beer.
Smell, bready with mint/verbena.
But the problem is the taste.
Skunky malts. I suspect they buy the malts from Swinckels.n
This is a quite a party pooper.
I think they had an other supplier or did themselves before.
That explains the score drop.

Handsome 33 cl bottle, poured slightly chilled, into a snifter, in Toulouse, France.
Fluffy head pops up, stays late. The beer is cloudy gold in color. Splotchy lacing.,
Aroma is Earthy. Honey. Hops.
Taste is fruity; pear up front. Then a good spiciness emerges, bitter note, followed by wildflower honey. Dry + yeasty + funky + finish * accented * by the warm 10% ABV.
Mouth is quite creamy. Low but lively carbonation.
Overall, I howl aloud for this kind smoove taste, brewed only on a full moon.
Everything in harmony here.

Clear and golden in color. Modest head but it leaves blankets of lace.

Mild smell that reminds me of melting snow in late winter. Missing is the typical malt and hop aromas. There’s some cream in the background. There’s nothing wrong pier se but it’s nearly devoid of familiarity.

The flavor is a different story. It starts off with that “melting snow” but soon the higher alcohol takes over warmly with some faint pale malt flavor. Not as rich as expected but that may be because of the higher carbonation. The swallow is warming with a light bite of bitterness.

Wow what a tripel. A nice colored foam. In the nose soft sparkling fruity tones. With a well balanced bitterness. The alcohol is present but not disturbing. And the marketing story is amazing. Only brewed at midnigt during full moon? Really? And the slanting beerglasses are beautifull.

an idiosyncratic triple, really has a euro strong lager element to it, some quite intense alcoholic flavours in there, combined with the belgian yeasty spicy triple style flavours, quite sweet, bready, grainy, slightly metallic, light to medium bitterness on the finish, medium in body and highly carbonated, dryish finish, i don’t particularly care for this, and honestly i’m surprised by its average rating, but each to their own

330 ml swingtop bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, as Abbaye Cistercienne Paix Dieu Triple, from September 2014. ABV is 10%. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma of mild spices, yellow fruits (esp. plums) and white kandij sugar syrup. Moderately sweet flavour, yellow fruits again, also white kandij sugar and hints of mild spices. Pleasant to drink.

L- Paler than I was expecting, mid-gold with some sediment entering the pour right at the end => somewhat hazy. Pours with 2Cm pillowy just off-white head of foam.
S- Mild, just some sense of deeper pungency.
T- The taste seems slow to develop on the palate, in that it took some seconds to register much of great note. I was struck by how a slightly sweet richness appeared first, then some pungent depths with stewed fruits, then into a liquor-ish ABV% zing across the palate in the finish.
F- Rich + hint of sweet, pungently deep intensity. CO2 remains good in the glass as well as mouth. The 'zing on the palate' is intruguing, as I'd certainly expect it in a 10% ABV beer, yet I've just realised I certainly wouldn't expect it in a 10% wine. ... One to ponder :)
O- Very polished and a fine offering. I'm not really into 'sweet' anything when it's out of balance with the whole. Glad I chilled it off well to take that edge off. A slow-sipping winter-warmer of a beer. Lovely to try, perhaps a notch too sweet for me to be likely to buy again - this also reflects I'd be buying for direct import from Belgium rather than a local shop!
330ml bottle, unchanged from that featured excl. mine has a cartouche of a howling wolf or fox on the neck lable and 'Janvier [January] 2020'. Bought from BelgiumInABox in Antwerp/BE for delivery to me in London/UK. BB: '[Unclear]/2022'
