The atmosphere was strange in an empty building at night and a bathroom in a closed section of the city market. The selection did not include an IPA that disappointed me and my beer loving friends. I think a good beer bar should represent very major style. A bathroom too far away and hard to find access to building or parking brings down the vibe. the city market looks a dump. The tap room is ok and would be better when you can sneak out from work early. The bartender was knowledgeable about their beer. Service was good.

Bar on the mezzanine level of the Indianapolis City Market. A partnership between The City Market and The Indiana Brewer's Guild, they serve as a showcase for Indiana brewers and have a constantly rotating selection of beers. I read some of the previous reviews of disappointed visitors but I'm not sure what they were expecting. The beers are supplied by Indiana brewers and, as they rotate, there is a good chance that a particular style will not always be represented. There were 16 beers on tap of at least 10 different styles during my visit, including several IPA's. Pint prices for some beers were as low as $4 and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. A very laid back vibe in a historic building, overlooking the City Market food court. If you are looking for a singles bar or loud music this is not the place to go. If you are a craft beer lover and want to try what Indiana brewers have to offer, including hard to find beers, this is a great bar to visit!

Not the vibe I was looking for as it is on the mezzanine level of the Market. Service decent and a great selection (had a Zombie Dust), but overall disappointed.

Very cool place to visit. A bit tricky to find the first time, but once you get in the building and then figure out to go upstairs, you'll be in business.

Big space inside a bigger space that seems like it will eventually become an indoor market.

The selection here is pretty impressive and features nothing but Indiana brews. Plenty of gems to be found.

Flights are available and they use proper glassware which is cool.

Service is friendly enough and the guys seem to know their beers.

Probably my favorite place downtown to grab a pint, especially when they have Zombie dust on tap. Knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. Some may not like the ultra laid back atmosphere with not a lot going on in the market after hours, but I personally really enjoy it. If you're in downtown Indy and looking for some great Indiana brews I highly recommend it!

I love this place, its my favorite place downtown to grab a beer. They run 16 taps with only Indiana beers, and on Tuesdays they fill growlers for $10 only on certain selection. I love the atmosphere its a great place to get a beer and its not smokey or extremely loud. There is usually only 2 people serving beer so sometimes service isn't excellent but it isn't terrible. Now they don't have food food there is a place in the market that does have food and that place is Papa Roux, and that place is awesome. They have a selection Po'boy sandwiches (not sure how many) the sandwiched I had last was the spicy pork nugget Po'Boy and it was out of this world good. If you want something other than a Po'Boy you can have pizza delivered (I have never tired it) all in all I think this is a great place to have in Indianapolis.

The Tomlinson Tap is a showcase for Indiana beers. It is located in the history City Market in downtown Indianapolis.
When I attended last night it was pleasantly populated. There were 16 Taps running. Selections were available from New Albanian, Sun king, Three Floyds, Barley Island, Flat 12, Crown, Figure 8, Peoples, Upland. There are some pretzels and chips available.
The Tap is on a balcony over the old City Market. The ambiance is sparse and historic. There are a number of food vendors downstairs, but they are usually closed when I have been there.

Nice place in the Market area, above the actual market. It's not so much a tap room as a "tap open location overlooking the ground floor." It's nice and clean, and while it has its own space, it bleeds into the surrounding area.

Excellent service, though, with both bartenders being prompt and friendly, as well as quite knowledgable.

Small overall selection, but as it's there to show off Hoosier brews, it does a good job at that with around a dozen taps each sporting an Indiana beer.

I do wish they would update their Facebook tap list page/note more often, though, as three of the beers I wanted to try weren't there.

Great place to relax, though, and a wonderful place to try Indiana beers from all over the state that might be hard to find without travel otherwise.

Good deals on tasters.

New tap room in the Indianapolis City Market. Located in the mezzanine.

Atmosphere is a little dead as nothing else is open in the Market in the evenings, but it's clean, well-lit and classy otherwise. The bar is supposedly from an old Hook's drugstore soda fountain or something. It's quiet, but nice and all about the beer.

The beer selection is an excellent mix of 12 Indiana craft brews, rotating from 8-10 different breweries. The selection is good because they try to get different styles from each place. Cream ale, IPA, brown ale, porter, tripel, black IPA were all represented on my last visit. The quality varies a bit, but all are good.

Prices are $5-$7.25 for a pint, so a bit on the pricey end. No real food offerings except locally made potato chips.
