This beer found it rare. Especially for the way it is advertised. I have not found a Belgian strong dark ale. I found another thing. That's why I thought beer was not in good condition. That is why I will find and try again.

375ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Cloudy mahogany ruddy brown hue with some amber tinge, the pour builds up majestic creamy light tan head that very well retains itself with remarkable strength of retention before slowly subsiding to an everlasting fluffy crown and leaving lots of sticky lacing patch and spot on the glass-side, medium to high visible carbonation.

There are many layers in a nose that is so mellow ranging from berry, ripe prune and plum, citrus, tropical fruit, caramel, sweet vanilla, spice, pepper, herbal, phenol, honey, candy sugar, toasted biscuit, bread, oak, and burnt wood.

Wow, this one is so tasty. It begins with lively fruitiness of yeasty ester with notes of berry, prune and plum that is reinforced with citrus and tropical fruit from hop. Then it still continues with the unique Belgian’s element of phenolic spice, herbal, pepper, candy sugar, and honey. Malt is there as a backbone with its toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, sweet vanilla, and dough while the barrel aging adds more depths in the palate sensation with its oak, a little bit spicy alcohol, and burnt wood. The aftertaste is long-lasting with some hop bitterness, yeasty fruitiness and spiciness, also with the dryness of barrel-aged.

The body is rather bold and full with moderate carbonation to generate some crisp through the palate, smooth mouthfeel with a very dry finish.

Sipping this is just blown me away. Complex, delicate, yet tasty as hell, and alcohol is also very well hidden making it so drinkable.

Had it on tap at 6 Pack in Busan

Dark Amber with a half inch white head.

Smells like dark fruits and booze.

Taste follows the nose pretty closely. Dark fruits and burnt sugars with a boozy kick.

Mf- slight carbonation with a medium body.

Great cold weather beer with a strong kick. Highly recommended.

Love chardonnay barrels and pours a copper hue with a two finger creamy head and tight leggy boozy lacing, the smell is quite vinous with aromas of white grapes, buttery oak and cognac also a boozy prescence thats quite noticeable, the palette is full bodied with slight carbonation which suits and on taste the chardonnay barrels leave their trace which I like and suprisingly only in there for 4 months but the white grapes first encountered subdue the big belgian hiding underneath theres definately alot of fruity esters, a herbal earthy hoppiness and finished dry but not dry like a chardonnay more like a sem/sav with a touch of sweetness and overall yep I like it and well worth the growler investment cheers.

Brewed for GABS Festival in Melbourne, May 2014. Presumably just a barrel-aged version of their Shameless Santa, although I haven't tried that so I can't confirm. Tried at GABS on tap.

Pours a dark amber colour, clear with disappointingly thin, whispy white head. Decent, but needs more head, as do we all.

Smells oaky, and vinous. Big notes of Syrah coming off the similarly big notes of oak. Tangy plum and berry with a touch of pepper, as well as an odd hop note which shouldn't really be in there. Pretty pleasant.

Taste is a bit boozey. Again big on the oak with lots of red wine character coming through - berry, plum, actual oak wood as well. Brandy towards the back and a slight herbal character drying up. Nice enough complexity but not a lot of coherence.

Body is surprisingly thin for the style, finishes quite dry.

Strong and boozey, but nice flavours. Kind of what I expected from these guys at this festival.
