Black color with creamy brown head. Aroma has some acidic fruity notes like cherries along liquor filled chocolate pralines. Taste starts fruity and slightly sweet, continues with cognac, dried fruits like figs and dates, finishes with nutty, woody bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Really complex flavors, integrated very well. Alcohol is present but does not bother.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt notes with lactose and cognac notes is pretty awesome. Taste is a super nice mix between some roasted malt notes with creamy sweet black chocolates notes and any rough edge are well rounded off by the cognac barrel notes. Body is a tad thinner than expected but still has a nice creamy texture with good carbonation and no real alcohol is apparent. I didn’t koi what to expect but this was an amazing beer.

This one pours a very dark syrupy looking black, with a small mocha head, and a surprising amount of sticky lacing.

This smells like sweet fruity sherry, chocolate fudge, vinous cognac, maple syrup, oak, etc.

This is quite sweet, but as it warms, nice little complexities start to show up. There's maple syrup, molasses, chocolate fudge, sweet sherry, slightly wine-like cognac, concentrated port, red grape, and coffee. It's aged in two different barrels, and the sherry definitely plays a stronger role than the cognac. Despite the intense sweetness, this is a nice beer. There's no booziness to this, which is fairly impressive.

This is thick and pretty syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation. It's suprisingly drinkable but still a pretty slow sipper.

To Ol makes some pretty ridiculous beers. This is certainly one of them, and it comes highly recommended from me.

375ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Pitch black in color with thick frothy tan head that well retains itself with pretty good retention, it gradually dissipates to a long-lasting bubble sheet atop and leaves lots of refined lacing patch and spot along the way.

The aroma is led by rich barrel character of sherry, brandy, fermented grape, vanilla, some spice, spicy alcohol, and oak. The second layer of a nose is guided by roasted malt as well as roasted coffee bean, dark bread, caramel candy, lactose, and milky yet creamy chocolate.

The taste kicks off by big sweetness from lactose and alcohol, shortly thereafter the barrel character is introduced with its sherry, brandy, fermented grape, vanilla, spicy alcohol and oak. Malt is also there as a flavor structure with its roasted, dark bread, caramel, candy, vanilla, and creamy yet milky chocolate. The overall taste is more mellow and alcohol also starts to reveal more when the beer starts to warm. The end and aftertaste is lasting with brandy and sherry barrel notes of fermented grape, vanilla, oak, and spice as well as sweet and spicy alcohol.

Full and thick body with some bold touch through the palate but it is not that cloying or sticky, quite smooth mouthfeel with relatively low carbonation, finish is dry.

So sweet Stout, it is so big, intense, and complex with plenty of character to satisfy the sensation. Not for the faint-hearted and maybe not that easy to drink for the less experience drinker, alcohol is there lurking, great sipping beer.

Large bubbles rush to pop and release the smoky, oaky, sweet vanilla essence of the cognac and sherry barrels. A Christmas beer no doubt... the smell and taste of candied dark fruits equalize a bitter cacao while the syrupy smoothness of lactose and barrel carry the finish of sweet sherry wine a looong way. This beer hides a lot of booze with depth and sweetness plus the 8 ounce bottle knows when its time to leave. Its great.

From degustasur. Yellow label. In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 3. Sweet, sticky, with lactose notes. Although the extra high Abv is fairly hidden, still some is noticeable more than desiderable. Didnt detect the barrel aging though

It's basically the best port like beer I have ever had. I Don't know how to describe it except for that.
