Notes: The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

Brewed at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.

poured 375 ml bottle into a snifter.

A - Dark black coffee color with a mocha 1.5 finger head. Nice retention and lacing coats my glass.

S - Smells like a RIS with coffee. I get dark fruits, coffee, bakers chocolate, and maybe a touch of caramel and vanilla.

T - This is a big bitter coffee, flavored stout! Bitter coffee and backers chocolate dominate, but plenty of dark fruit, plum and raisin a hidden within. Caramels and vanilla with some hops to finish it off. Very nice taste and complex balance. .

M - Thick body with a rich and creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation is substantial.

O - Nick sent this to me in a trade and it is awesome. If you like some of the big bitter RIS (Founders, Stone) give this a try if you can find it. It is well worth it.

Shared 375 ml bottle, thanks to Ole Anders. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Strong roasty aroma of coffee and wood, a hint of ashes. Even more distinct roasty and coffee notes in the flavour, quite dry, woody and ashy.

Body is basically black with a dark tan head that is thicker than expected with the high ABV. Aroma of dark chocolate, strong coffee, raisins & molasses. A fair amount of sweetness & an equal amount of coffee bitterness. All flavors promised by its aroma are delivered. Thick & smooth with a good amount of tummy heating. Overall: the perfect cup of coffee.

Bought at Clem's Bottle House in San Diego, CA. $12.99 for 12.7 oz bottle. No bottling date, consumed 09/18/2021.

A&S: Jet black beer, with a brown head. Very lackluster head, but I have no idea how long this has been aging for. The aroma contains robust coffee, dark chocolate, rich cherries with a hint of soy sauce.

T&M: Huge coffee tones upfront. Other flavors include toffee, tobacco, and raisins. The mouthfeel is soft and laid back.

Overall: Good beer, nothing mind-blowing, but a really solid coffee-forward beer.

This was my last beer at the Meddlesome Moth in Dallas on a cold night before my wife’s dance competition. Had it after an excellent shared dinner.

Poured from tap into a snifter. Very dark brown color with nice brown head and good curtain lacing. Strong smell and taste of dark chocolate. Coffe along with spicy licorice. Pleasantly earthy. A nice comforting beer on a cold evening!

S: Chocolate, coffee, sweet-ish.

T: Chocolate, coffee, sweet-ish, alcohol. Oh, yeah.

F: Full bodied, thick, creamy, tons of flavor.

O: World class imperial stout. Well done To Øl!

Pitch black hue.

Dark khaki head; strong lace.

Chocolate malt & coffee nose.

Thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Roasted coffee up front; bitter coffee finish.

Slight pickle juice vibe mars this, but still pretty good.

Boozy but nice sweet molasses taste. Good beer for a night cap but I wouldn't drink regularly but it is a very nicely done beer. Best to let it sit for a while to enjoy.

Dark translucent brown pour into over-sized snifter yields and opaque black body in the glass... Center pour produced a few fingers of dark foam that draped some lace arms inside the glass... Molasses, char, chocolate and coffee on the nose, followed by more of the same on the sip... Additional taste impressions had herbal and woodsy notes, like tobacco, cedar/oak, anise, and ash... Smooth and creamy, medium-full-bodied, with a little bit of stickiness leaving a mild bitter shellac on the tongue... Moderately sweet... Long finish dried somewhat with an herbal chocolaty coffee aftertaste... Foil wrap had a 10/25/21 best by date... $11.99 for a 12.7 oz bottle at Total Wine... Decent, but the charred herbal edge wasn't too much to my liking - at least not in combination with the molasses-and-coffee sweetness...

A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 12th January 2019. Poured into a snifter glass.

Appearance: A dark brown to black colour with a one finger puffy brown head that had pretty good retention and left some small spotty lacing.

Aroma: Coffee, chocolate with light herbal, hops and booze at the end.

Taste: Light roasted malts, coffee and chocolate with light earthy and herbal hop tones late on.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall: The earthy and herbal element on the finish in both aroma and taste was maybe a bit too much for me, but otherwise, it was still quite good.

Taste: intense, complex, semi sweet chocolate, coffee, toffee, smooth viscous mouth-feel. Malty, earthy nutty, coffee bean nose. Black, opaque, tall dark brown head with webbed lattice of lace on the glass. Full body. Great, refined stout.
