Notes / Commercial Description:
The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

Brewed at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.

Drank from a Central Waters snifter.
Jet black oil pour with full brown head and nice lacing. Sadly that's where the love affair ends.
Odd perfume aroma with some dish soap (no it wasn't from the glass).
Bubble gum espresso milk flavor.

Couldn't finish this one.

Deep, viscous pour with a beige head.

Aromas of slight Belgian yeast, some peppery coffee, spices, adhesive.

Flavor is very strong with sap, green pepper, coffee grounds, wax paper, metal, and a bit of chocolate, fudge, and green pepper seeds on the finish.

Feel is thick, chewy, unrelenting. Moderate carb.

Overall, $11 a bottle is not an appetizing price point. I'd pass next time.

L - Motor oil with a one finger beige head

S - Big coffee but not really roasted, herbal and earthy notes. A bit of booziness

T - A lot on the cassonade sugar with coffee, nice oatmeal presence, dark chocolate. Quite sweet.

M - Thick and smooth

O - A balanced coffee double stout. It's a bit overly sweet though. A dessert on its own

Pours a dark brown/black with a tan head that stays throughout.

Smells of roasted coffee with a sweet aroma.

First taste seemed on black licorice but never tasted that again. As the beer warmed, more of the roasted coffee notes came through.

Overall a very smooth drinking RIS coffee stout.

Taste: toasty malts, sweet malt, sweet milk chocolate, slight espresso bitterness, slight pepper skin, very sweet all the way through

Feel: very full, thick, awesome coating

Overall: slightly better than good..

375ml bottle poured into a snifter appears black in color with a khaki head.

The aroma is sugary at first then coffee, char and solid roastiness/earth developes.

The taste is bitter bordering on acrid, roasty dry earth but still maintains a peculiar sugary aftertaste mingled with booze.

This is light in body with modest carbonation. An interesting nrew to try but doubt id care to have it again anytime soon.
