Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
On a pilgrimage for immortal craft beer, we tripped on some heavenly drops of beer with amazingly overwhelming aromas of chili peppers and more, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made in limited amounts. And the taste….furthermore jesus.

From a 330 ml bottle to a tulip glass.

A-The beer looks dark and thick. The head is on the short side with little retention. The foam is a nice, deep, brown color. It looks the part.

S-The aroma is rich and suggest well-roasted malt. I smell bakers chocolate, cocoa powder, some dark molasses sweetness and, of course, chili spice. The heat here comes through as chili powder instead of the vegetal, fleshy green chili flavor that is often present in spiced-up beers.

T-The taste is similar to the smell, but more complex. I get some cream or marshmallow flavor at first, but that is soon replaced by rich, dark roasted flavors like semisweet chocolate, cocoa powder, brown caramel, and dark molasses. The chili heat comes on the mid-palate, but fades towards the finish. There is virtually no alcohol.

M-The feel is thick and robust without getting syrupy. Carbonation is softer.

O-This is a very good beer. I especially like the chili flavor, which is dry and dusty instead of fleshy and vegetal. I love spice and this beer has just the right temperature for me--not too hot, but enough to add complexity. The mouthfeel is also a highlight. One of the better chili beers out there.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A rich, roasty, and spicy dark malt driven aroma with a scent of chocolate, coffee, and chili peppers. Dark roasted barley malt with a scent of dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, biscuit, toast, and yeast. Big scent of spicy chili peppers. Sweet scent of molasses. Also some hints of black licorice and tobacco. Subtle dark fruit hints of prune, fig, raisin, and cherry. Hops are pretty faint. A really good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty, rich, and spicy dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and chili peppers. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, toast, biscuit, smoke, and yeast. Big taste of spicy chili peppers. Some notes of black licorice, tobacco, and leather. Sweet taste of molasses. Dark fruit undertones of raisin, cherry, prune, and fig. Very light hops. A great taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Rich, chewy, spicy, and somewhat syrupy. Mild alcohol heat.

Overall: A really good twist on a great Imperial Stout. The chili peppers add a nice spicy kick that blends well with the dark malt flavors.

Pours jet black with a thinner beige head atop.Dark fruit, chocolate, and mild chili in the nose, the chili isn't to assertive.Flavors of fudgy chocolate and dark fruit with the chili coming in the finish and not real assertive,a light burn after the swallow. Not as brash as alot of the new chili stouts but flavorful and rich.

I am drinking Aun Mas Chili Jesus from Evil Twin.
In my tulip it is black with a small rust-colored head.
Nice aroma of cocoa and chicory coffee. The chili is noticeable enough that it tickles my nose.
Tasty. Cocoa and coffee, a hint of licorice. The chili is much more subtle than the aroma implied. The alcohol (it is 12% ABV) is well-hidden.
Wonderful mouthfeel. A good stout enhanced by the chili. Just hot enough, not too much.
Well done!

11.2oz bottle, no date. Pours jet black with a medium sized dark brown head. Smells of chili peppers, roasted malt, char, cocoa, earthy hops, and some dark fruit. The taste follows exactly with chili peppers throughout and roasted malt, char, cocoa, hops, and some dark fruit; better as it warms. Moderately spicy and bitter. Some alcohol comes in through the taste. Average body and carbonation for the style. Overall, some more cocoa or sweetness would be nice to balance the spice and char, but this is still a very well done chili IS.

12 oz bottle.
Appearance; pours near black with a decent head

Plenty of heat but not too hot.

The aroma has a slight vegetative aspect but the flavor is better: chilies plus dark roasted grains.
Lingering heat, booze and dark bread.

12 ounce poured into a chalice. Pours black but not as viscous or thick as I expect from Evil Twin's big stouts. No head forms. In the glass it sits like ink. 4

The smell is that fudge-heavy, chocolatey, gooey maltiness. Spiciness like from bourbon barrels and vanilla. Not exactly getting chile anywhere. 4.25 for being a great stout base aroma. 4.25

Chile arrives. It's peppery and a touch vegetal. Wrapped around this is the same stout profile from the nose. Gooey chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit and molasses. 4.25

Sticky feel and more viscous than I expected. Not thin nor thick. Just right there. Spicy feel and some bitterness that lingers. 4.25

Purty nice. Evil Twin's big stouts usually appeal to me and this is no different.

12 oz bottle poured into Speigelau glass

A: pitch black almost no head whatsoever but very small tan mocha head

S: very deep roast , anise, some bakers chocolate I can't really pick up any peppers

T: very nice stout some nice deep roasted malts, chocolate, anise maybe a tingle from the peppers but not much taste from them.

M: Very thick lovely feel

O: This is a fantastic stout I'm a little disappointed the peppers aren't more prevalent I notice some heat but I'm wondering if it's my imagination or if it's real either way what a great stout. It's thick and such a roast deep chocolate flavor actually you do get residual heat from the peppers which is quite wonderful.

Decent chile IS, on tap at Torst. I like heat and this was a good drinkable IS, but not knocking the ball out of the park. Not the thickest mouthfeel.
