Hmmm...this beer is mediocre. Everything is okay. Evil twin is slacking...but maybe that was the point given the name. Not worth the evil twin price tag but if a choice between this and crappy beers grab one of these and hope they don't charge $9

Date on can is 21215 - July 31, 2015. Born on or Best by? Enjoyed on 11/7/15
A: Gentle pour yields 2 fingers rocky white head - way too much. Slightly chill hazy straw yellow liquid is nice looking. After head died down the rest of the liquid could fit without overflow event.
S: Gentle Citra hops aroma - orange marmalade, and lemon. light biscuit malt.
T: Bright citra hops, slightly vegetal middle and aftertaste. Grapefruit! Zombie Dust Lite.
M: Pithy, dry, vegetal, at first I thought it seemed infected or that I detected notes of Brett. As I continued this seemed to be an illusion. Much more balanced later and entirely fresh feeling and tasting. Very dry throughout though. Quite bitter
O: Nice but veers too close to " hop tea" at times. Good pairing with chocolate chip cookies surprisingly as the sweetness from dessert mitigates the dryness of the beer.

From the tallboy can, pours hazy bright yellow color with a huge foamy 2-3 finger bright white head that was full of bubbled of all sizes which popped as this head dissipated very, very slowly; there was a lot of active carbonation with bubbles racing up the brew like champagne, leaving good spotty lacing. Good looking brew.

Smells of strong lemon zest up front, with orange peel, tangerine, red grapefruit, and a lot of citrus hops, followed by potent piney hops, cracker, biscuit, floral hops and light peppery spices. Smelling like fresh squeezed lemon is the best way to sum this up - it's zesty, refreshing and nice and hoppy to inhale.

Tastes like it smells with lemon, orange peel, tangerine, grapefruit, all kinds of citrus hop essence from the citra, lightly toasted grains, biscuit, dry floral hops, faint caramel, piney hops, coriander, pepper and some other light spices. Enough malt base to resemble balance and let the fresh citrus hops headline the show.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and a little too thin and watery even for a session IPA; it feels like a light beer. The body is very light, with mild carbonation, a light bitterness and a finish on the dry side the slides down and leaves a citrus-y coating in your mouth. Session beer 101.

Overall a really easy drinking beer that tastes fresh and has enough hop punch to make it very enjoyable. As a 4.5% ABV session IPA this is really damn good and quaff-able, it would be easy to crush several cans of it.

very good crushable brew. pours a light yellow clear color, smell is of lemon and citrus, slight malt presence. taste follows the smell, plus some bitterness. mouth feel is great and refreshing, good carbonation and not too heavy. awesome brew for outdoor weather. it will be between this and Lawson's Super Session #2 for my "go-to" session IPAs for the summers ahead.

A: The body is bright yellow with a small white head on top.

S: With this nose I can immediately identify it as a Citra beer - lemony hops and light citrus over a touch of straw.

T: Light grainy malt is followed by lemony hops. Refreshing, yet tasty.

M: Light in heft, which is appropriate for the style, and a modest creaminess in feel.

O: Very good. Until recently, this was my favorite Session IPA. Great in the summer.

Appearance: Pours from pint can a hazy golden with an average head of white suds. Alas, no lace though.

Aroma: Nice citrus hops — snappy, fresh and tantalizing!

Taste: Appealing sharp citrus and floral hops, very tasty but pretty light and sessionable in body. A very good session IPA, bursting with big citrus hops. Solid.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and the sides of the glass and a thin collar around the edge.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrus are present in the nose—grapefruit zest seems to stand out in particular.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of citrusy hops, especially grapefruit zest. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and can be considered sessionable. I liked how the citrusy flavors were closer to what you get from zest and weren't acidic.

Pours a light straw colored gold with minimal head and little lacing. I get some of the citra on the nose but, it's more like a dry hopped pilsener than a session IPA. This is a great beer for after yard work because it is both light and has just enough hops without hitting you in the face.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. And yes, that can came from the undisputed champion of canned beer, woodychandler. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus hops, some malts. Taste is well balanced malts and hops, citrus is present. Feels medium/light in the mouth and overall is a solid beer, but this brewery makes better IPA's.

A very good session ale. and I love that it comes in sixteen oz cans. bright hop character that citra usually brings. easy drinking, great after taste. cant go wrong if you are looking for low abv and a hop focused beverage.

L: bright yellow with a thin head
S: awesome nose, tons of citrus
T: citrus upfront, the finish is a little bitter
F: thin bodied, typical for the style, more on the finish than most session IPAs
O: wish it tasted like it smelled

Started off questionable with it's tell tale paleness that screams "I'm not well balanced!", well at least to me it does. Ginormous white foamy head that leaves behind just a touch of lacing.

Nice juicy and slightly spicy nose with a sort of sweetness to it as well.

I can taste a little straw or grass before a tiny bit of tartness. Further drinking provides little else other than a bitterness of nondescript nature. Maybe it's lemony, but overall it's a bit of a mess I especially considering how thin and soulless this seems.

This is the "session" IPA that may have very well ended my journey further into the hybrid style. If you want an IPA, this one teaches you to go full bodied or go home. Plenty of other great beers out that with a low ABV. Doesn't have to be IPA all the time.

Quintessential Citra flavor here: lemon, grapefruit, tangerine; very nice effort here from Evil Twin. Light, bright, prickly, this beer is an easy and refreshing pounder.

That said, there's definitely some variance here between batches. This 261-15 (Sept. 18th, 2015) dated can is a bit more muted than the previously reviewed batch, but it's still a quality brew.

The smell is slightly catty, but it's all good!

From Can. Pours hazy light golden Orange with white head that dissipates to a ring. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, light grain, mango and fresh hops. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of light mango, citrus, grain and light bread. very nice.

EVIL TWIN CITRA SUNSHINE SLACKER 9/6/15

Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Tree House stemmed tulip.

a: Clear gold with an inch and a half white head which receded slowly to thin patchy surface foam and a ring of lacing.

s: Mild citrus

t: Mainly white grape juice followed by quite a bitter bite of hops. Bitterness lingers on the tongue at first, mellows later.

m: Light to medium, ok body, moderate carbonation tingle.

o; A refreshing session IPA, one of the better ones out there, and one of the few which comes in 16 oz. cans. However, at least one competitor (Blue Point Mosaic) which also comes in this size can is offered at a similar quality and much more attractive pricepoint.

A- pilsner like. Light yellow body, with a slight ring of head. Nice amount of lacing.

S- Citra hops. Tangerine, pineapple, pine bit of scallion.

T- Bitterness and doughy malt. I don't get any real citrus notes here. It's mostly just pine, green onion & herbal bitterness. Kind of gross tbh. Dirty bath-water.

M- thin. The finish lasts a bit longer than I would like. Greasy.

O- taste the hype. Super vegetal. You put Citra on a label and it's the talk of the town. I'll take SNPA over this any day. Upsetting brew.

Pours a pale golden body with a thick, fluffy bone-white head. Aroma is big citrus with a hint of tropical fruit. Has the familiar Citra notes, but they are not as pronounced as some other Citra hopped beers. The taste is really nice and shows off the great flavors Citra hops can provide. Citrus, topical fruit nuances, a dash of toasted malt, but the hops are the show. The carbonation level is slightly higher than normal, with a light, refreshing feel. Pronounced bitterness is left behind. A very nice session ale with a nice hop component. Well done.

Served in a snifter at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a golden straw yellow color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Herbal, grassy, spicy, slight citrus hops followed by toasted, biscuity, and pale malts.

Taste: Same as above. Chewy and mild bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, crisp, refreshing, medium carbonation, a little chewy, and extremely drinkable.

Overall: Another good beer to add to the summer mix. Tasty and refreshing and perfect for the hot weather

Appearance - very light yellow. Perhaps sunshine yellow. Like sunshine dust

Smell - citrus and bitterness

Taste - citrus and bitter hops. Pretty typical

Overall - good. A good session, Orpheus has the best session I've ever had though (War.Peace.Truth.Lies).

16 oz can

Light, white crackers, lightly lemon and floral (would not peg this as Citra), with a soft yeasty presence that wraps it up.

As a session IPA this carried a nice body and adequate hop notes to keep me interested. Reminds me of Lemonheads candy.

This beer pours a hazy light golden color with a big frothy white head and good retention. Smell is wonderful, love citra hops. Huge aromas of citrus, mostly lemon, grapefruit and pineapple. Taste is the same, pretty well balanced with a slight bitterness. Feel is light, but not watery like many other sessions. Overall Maine Beer Co's Beer 2 is the best session that I've had, and this one is 2nd or 3rd, but by a great distance.

This beer had so much potential, beautiful golden color with a nice head. Decent citrus and fruit aroma of the citra hops. The flavor just wasn't there though. It was super light and sweet with only a touch of hops. Refreshing, but not what I expected.

Take Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA, and try to compress it into the confines of a session IPA: it's a beer so heavy on the grapefruit/citrus flavours that it really does feel like it could have involved some sort of freshly squeezed juice.

Not much in the way of head, and not tremendously carbonated. A surprising cloudy, sickly pale radioactive colour, and dominated by citrus juices and slight biscuit malt. Not a lot of bitterness--exceedingly drinkable. It might be my affection for the Big Lebowski, but this one speaks to me on some primal level. But, then, that's just my opinion, man.

Smell is of lemon peel, citrus, and a hint of pineapple. Taste is heavy citrus with a slightly bitter finish, but excellent balance. Sometimes I find the taste of session IPAs a little thin, but this one is really full-flavored. One of the better session IPAs I've had.
