Brewed by:
Evil Twin Brewing
New York, United States

Style: Leipzig Gose

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Effortlessly cool, popping up in a cultish fashion and constantly on a tasty mission. This is Mission Gose: our take on an old-fashioned and slightly odd German beer style that is with good reason trending as the tastiest right now. It’s tart, salty, low in alcohol and probably the most refreshing beer you’ll ever have. Perhaps enjoy this beer in a restaurant with a mission near you. Wherever you are we made it stylishly good and exclusively well balanced just for you.

Holy complex batman! Iv never had a gose that tasted this powerful, lots of fresh spice notes, like a cooking spice I can't pin point it but dang. Great beer.

I feel like i have tried every gose out there and this one honestly ranks among the best! The smell and look are fine, but the taste and feel is where it destroys!

This has an insanely smooth and crisp feel. I didn't realize something like that was possible. Seriously.

The flavor of the american gose is only improved upon with the eucalyptus... Does that make sense? Does it work? Hell yes!

If this was available in 12oz bottles or cans at a much lower price point this would be my go-to summer beer.

(Of course it helps that this was brewed by Westbrook)

A bright gold color in the snifter. A fairly large white head to begin, faded quickly.

Herbal and sweet aroma. Tart. Salty.

Quite salty taste. Fruit. Refreshingly tart.

Perfect hot summer day beer.

Taste is salt, lemon, and sour mix. This gose was very sour for the examples that I have had. The salt was about as prominent as any gose that I have had as well. Very very good. I will look for this one again.

Pours a cloudy orange with a minimal amount of fizzy white head that is gone before you know it. The eucalyptus is very present in the smell with a slight bit of sourness. Taste is spicy, salty, and floral. Very complex flavoring, extremely refreshing and a good mouthfeel for the style. This is a great beer and very easy to drink with the low alcohol.

A: Hazy straw with a 1” white lacy foam cap that quickly dissipears.
S: Lemon and citrus. This has added eucalyptus and you can pick out a little of it in the background.
T: The palate is big time tart and almost acetic rather than citric – like a lightly salted granny smith apple soaked in unsweetened lemon.
M: light, effervescent with a little slickness.
O: A very refreshing summer time drink.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn chalice.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy yellowish orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Slight finger of white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A sour and tart yeast driven aroma with a scent of funk and fruit. Big scent of Brett yeast with lots of funk. Fruit scent of lemon, lime, orange, grapes, green apple, and tart cherry. Hints of the eucalyptus come through along with sea salt. Pale malt with hints of cracker and straw. Subtle floral and grassy hop hints. A pretty nice funky aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely sour, tart, and fruity yeast driven taste with notes of fruit and funk. Upfront Brett yeast with a big funky taste. Juicy fruit notes of lime, lemon, white grapes, orange, green apple, melon, pineapple, and tart cherries. Notes of sea salt and herbal notes of eucalyptus. Pale malt notes of biscuit, cracker, and straw. Subtle floral hop undertones. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and drying on the finish.

Overall: A very good zesty take on a Gose. Good combination of funky and fruity flavors with a nice dry body.

Had at Cask Republic on Friday, August 14th. Poured a pretty clean straw color and with a decent head. Sweet aroma, almost too sweet, with of bunch of mixed up herbs. Taste is off for a Gose, it starts really sweet and barely tart, then there is a blast of herbs like sage and basil. It finishes sweet and chalky, like the sweet tarts candy. A bit heavy for 4.00%. Not like the style and not that good on its own.

Bomber poured into an oversized snifter.

Lots of fizzy head. Forms a few fingers thick and fizzles and makes a good deal of noise. Settles into a bubbly lace before eventually dissipating almost entirely. The liquid is a glowing gold color with a brownish hue. It's a bit cloudy. Certainly a different color than I'm used to in a gose but it looks nice. 4.5

Man, that nose is potent...with herbal, plant-like aromas. Something earthy and fruity simultaneously. I'd almost say aloe vera but the bottle insists this is eucalyptus. Slight salt and wheat and malt sweetness. Faintly tart. This aroma definitely reminds me of something from the past but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe I was a koala in a past life. 4.25

Lots of salt here. They weren't shy with that. That herbal, plant-like aroma also figures heavy on the taste. This almost reminds me of kombucha with the tartness and tea-like flavor. Maybe that's what they were going after here? If so, well done. It's got a touch of some unidentifiable fruit flavor and a touch of lingering wheat. A nice medley of flavors and I gotta say, I like it. 4.25

I said it's salty and it really is. Definitely brings a dry quality to the beverage. Tartness is aplenty too and works in a fascinating way with the herbal tea and fruit flavors. Somehow they all come together in a mostly harmonious blend. There's even a bit of earthy spice which is peculiar but nice. 4.25

I didn't think I would like this. I almost didn't buy a bottle, but when it got distro to New Mexico I finally pulled the trigger. It's pretty damn weird but I like that and I really enjoy it. What I don't like is the price and the format. This should be a $10 4-pack or even 6-pack as opposed to a $10+ bomber. To my thinking, no gose belongs in a bomber.

12oz can. You know what they say if you refer to yourself as cool, right?

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and creamy off-white head, which leaves some broadly spattered lace around the glass as it quickly sinks out of sight.

It smells of vegetal eucalyptus, tart lemon and underripe orange citrus peel, gritty and grainy pale malt, salty wheat crackers, and some minor white pepper and coriander spice. The taste is rather sour lemon/lime and unripened apple fruitiness, grainy and crackery pale malt, a lesser cereal-like wheatiness, fairly tame estery and mildly funky eucalyptus, saltwater, and more understated ground pepper and coriander spiciness.

The carbonation is quite active in its palate-pinging frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and actually fairly smooth, once one becomes acclimatized to the various acrid essences flitting about here. It finishes mostly dry, the fruity, grainy, and eucalyptus-y essences predominating.

Overall, this is indeed a charming and refreshing sour brew - as usual, I can abide tart/sour if it's of the fruit-borne ilk, as opposed to the nasty beastie kind. At any rate, even though this one rattles the sides of my cheeks, I still go back for more - good, good stuff.
