Standard dark appearance, tannish edges, no lacing. Smell is strong in cinnamon and pepper spiciness, underlying chocolate, minimal coffee. Coffee and chocolate are on the forefront of the taste, roasty, bittersweet, hints of pepper on the back end. Medium body, not thick, not oily, definite booziness. Well balanced, pretty good.

From the bottom rim of the can: "ET-71-18"

Appearance: The body is oil black and it has a brown head that slowly fades to a thick ring.

Aroma: It smells a bit like burnt wood and pine boughs. There is a light bit of cocoa scent.

Taste: There is a pleasant chocolate liqueur flavor up front, which is joined by a bit of a woody alcohol flavor similar to whiskey. It finishes with a fairly strong coffee flavor which lingers on the palate.

Mouthfeel: It is smooth if not a bit thin, which can be expected given the "12% ALC BY VOL" listed on the can. It's easy to drink and the high alcohol is very tame. There is a light charred bitterness to the beer which plays nicely with the flavors.

Overall: The beer is very enjoyable to drink but it boasts a wealth of flavors on the can; "CINNAMON, COCOA NIBS, CHILI PEPPERS, VANILLA BEANS, AND COFFEE BEANS." You will likely find some cocoa and coffee but everything else is lacking. It's still a beer worth drinking but it's not worth the advertised flavors. I probably wouldn't pick it up again given that there are similar beers doing the job better.

Thick, pitch black with no head whatsoever. cocoa, chocolate and coffee nose and the same with taste. Don't get much cinnamon at all. LIttle chili/green pepper heat on the back end. overall a pretty nice stout. Not my favorite from Evil Twin, but still quite solid.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop 6-7-19 for $6.99. No canning date; consumed on 8-5-19.

Beer poured black as night with a nitro like head with the original pour but dissipated quickly.

Nose has hints of cocoa and cinnamon, very nice.

Taste is a well struck balance with infusing the large malt base with cocoa, cinnamon, and chili pepper while adding likely a massive amount of hops to balance the overall taste very well.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth but not as viscous as the beer is big.

Overall i think i like this Jesus the best of what i have tried to date! Similar to the Prairie Bomb.

Cinnamon and coffee are upfront with a green chili just after that. Tobacco and leather. Very strong roastiness.
Quite balanced and powerful.

Black color with a bit of mocha foam. Aroma has deep malt character, umami, soy sauce, chocolate syrup and chili peppers. Taste starts spicy with cinnamon and chili, continues with dark chocolate and cocoa nibs, finishes with roasted malt bitterness and coffee flavor. Full bodied, feels really thick, soft carbonation. Lots of layers to the flavor, nothing standing out, everything well balanced.

11.2 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black. After getting a little aggressive on the pours a was able to achieve an inch of deep mocha head that leaves some decent lacing.

Coffee and spicy peppers are the first thing I smell. As it warms I get chocolate.

The taste is anise, dark chocolate, coffee and pepper.

Full bodied with smooth, viscous mouthfeel

I don't get any cinnamon. It tastes like the base beer with coffee and peppers, so they achieved that which I feel is a slight improvement.

11.2 oz. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch tan head over a near black body with some sticky lacing. Nose of roasted malt, slight cocoa, slight coffee, and cinnamon. Taste of cocoa, cinnamon, and slight coffee with the chili pepper heat building slowly with each sip. Good feel and overall, a nice imperial stout. Cheers!

Poured from a 11.2 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Purchased in Attleboro MA.

Pours a deep brown body with a small brown head. Spotty lacing.

Aromas are a bit metallic, cocoa, chocolate liquor, with a peculiar green pepper smell. On the tongue is definitely coffee and cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, but I go no cinnamon and the only chili notes I get are odd green pepper flavors, with no heat. Body is thin and undercarbed.

This beer was pretty bad. Tasted like a mediocre imperial stout with peppers and old coffee thrown in. Not sure what others are tasting here.

Pours pitch black color, spent motor oil black, with a small brown creamy head that faded and left good spotty lacing. Jeppe has this shit down pat as all the Jesus series stouts look good.

Huele picante al frente, picante real, aún más todo Jesús tiene un aroma como la descripción en el frente de la botella. The cinnamon, burnt coffee, cocoa and chili peppers work well with the rich malt base and make for a wonderful nose which accomplishes what they set out to brew.

You have to like heat in your beer and chili peppers if you purchase this, as it has strong representation of everything listed on the front: cinnamon, cocoa nibs, chili peppers and coffee beans. It's all there, plus dark chocolate, minerals, faint soy sauce, piney hops and peppery spices. The heat is mild, but after each sip you feel it in your throat. This is what I signed up for so I found it as enjoyable as a Lindt Excellence Chili Dark Chocolate Bar (they should pay me for that plug). A super tasty and complex stout, classic Evil Twin.

Mouthfeel is average for a stout with the feel a little thin, but the mild heat from the chili peppers mask the 12% ABV. It goes down much easier than expected, so I'd definitely have it again.

Label notes: "On a pilgrimage for immortal craft beer we tripped on these heavenly cocoa nibs, chili peppers, coffee beans, cinnamon and vanilla - threw them in and created damn good aromas, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made in limited amounts. And the taste....everything Jesus!".
Produced and bottled by Evil Twin Brewing at Cervesa del MONTSENY Sant Miquel de Balenya, Barcelona, Spain. Product of Spain.

Poured from 11.2oz bottle into glass. No dating information found on bottle or label.
Black, opaque colored body (one of the blacker beers I have seen). No real head upon pouring but a swirling interrupted cap persists. A few spots, but no real lacing pattern.
Many components to the aroma - chocolate laced with peppers, coffee, cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste is influenced by the higher ABV. Has the aroma components of fudgy chocolate, hot peppers, coffee, cinnamon and vanilla. End of taste profile is dominated by fudgy chocolate and diminished peppers.
Thin mouth feel, which really detracts from the drinking experience. Some hot pepper linger at the end.
Quality aromas and tastes are diminished by the thin body. Components do not have a creamy, coating mouth feel to fully express the tastes. Done well but limited.

Pours nearly black with a thin, tan head that quickly disappears. Almost no lacing. Smells of chocolate and coffee. Tastes the same but you get more of a cinnamon kick in the aftertaste. Oily mouth feel. Overall goes down smooth - very nice.

This pours a thick black with no significant head; aromas of chocolate, coffee, vanilla spice, hint of licorice. Warming taste of boozy dark chocolate, espresso, toffee, caramel malt, hint of chili peppers. Boozy smooth thick rich mouthfeel. Outstanding.

eyes...
pours like motor oil, nary a bubble to be spotted save a few clingers on the edge of the black void, major legs from the higher ABV, the comparison to oil is quite on the money on this one, not just a figure of speech

nose...
dry bakers chocolate, some mild smoke, definite licorice, no sense of the alcohol creeping below

taste etc....
medium thick mouthfeel, strong chocolate flavor with a hint of chile at the end, bitter chocolate lingers totally coating the tongue, lots of bitterness here, this is a liquid chocolate factory with coffee notes for good measure, the chiles are so far in the back that unless you were told they were there you might miss them

verdict?
whew, split this one with friends (ones you like), great depth of flavor, a super sipper for after dinner

Had to snag one of these while I was on vacation.

Pours jet black and looking just like soy sauce. No head of foam. Settles nicely.

On the nose, the chili peppers and coffee come out the most. A chocolate sweetness finds its way in as well along with black licorice aromas.

In the flavors you get much more of a presence of cinnamon to balance out a bitter coffee and dark chocolate profile. To round it out you get those chili peppers that leave a lasting spiciness.

Medium bodied, with a low carbonation that are crucial to working with the chili heat. Smooth, with only slight stickiness.

A great stout, reminiscent to Hunahpu’s Imperial as far as profile. Bitter coffee and chocolate, hints of cinnamon, and a chili heat to round it out.

Appearance: The head builds from the bubble show to two fingers of rocky, but creamy tan foam; the head settles above the coal black liquid and leaves squiggly lacing around the glass

Smell: Roasted, almost burnt chocolate, with cherry, black licorice and chili tones; espresso and cinnamon round out the aromatics

Taste: On the front end, the beer has an espresso flavor of strong and fruity coffee; burnt chocolate, black licorice and cherry build, through the middle, with the chili and cinnamon arriving, after the swallow, and driving through the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; moderate heat

Overall: A lot going on here, but also a bit unbalanced; not my favorite from Evil Twin

Unsure of the vintage. Lots of roasted malt and herbal, veggie-like hops. Chili peppers and mild coffee adjuncts. No vanilla or cinnamon. Gritty mouthfeel. Nothing special. Flavor may have fallen off with age. No way to really know.

Matte black with tiny globes of tan froth scattered across the surface.

Chilies and milk chocolate (what a combo) are prominent and eventually blend with other notes of cacao, espresso, brown sugar, cinnamon and cherry to form a sublime and promising aroma.

Taste is clean with notes of dark chocolate, nut, black licorice, cacao nibs and chili heat through the finish.

Medium in body and the alcohol heat is quite noticeable; warming you up in all the right places.

The chili heat can be excessive at times, and threatens to take over the entire party, but what burns some may be exactly what others are looking for. Overall this is a well made brew that really welcomes those sippers who enjoy taking their time and tasting every moment.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep black beer topped by a finger and a half of dense tan head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass
S: Smells of sweet chocolate cereal, peppery heat, cinnamon, and some slightly sweet chocolate covered espresso beans
T: Taste is slight cinnamon up front with some peppery heat, chocolate, and coffee coming in on the back end. Really nice roasted malt presence provides more flavor than just the adjuncts. Swallow is more heat and cinnamon with some lingering coffee, chocolate and roasted malts.
M: This beer has a full mouthfeel with a soft and silky texture on the palate. The level of carbonation is adequate and sits just below prickly while the beer has a slightly drying finish.
O: Overall this beer is really well made. Evil Twin is always a safe bet in my mind and this beer is no exception. It has some really nice flavors and complexity with everything in a really good balance. The heat is also reasonable as well. It builds slowly and you know it is there but it does not assault the palate or keep the other flavors from coming through. Definitely one to try if you like your stouts with a nice balance between sweet and heat.

Pours effervescent & black as night with a sliver of caramel colored head. Nice ;acing & below average head retention, viscious

S: Carob, roasted & charred grain, some vanilla once warm

T: Follows the nose, pepper spicyness, dryness, some chocolate. More charred grain & spicy heat, some woody hop notes, some vanilla too once warm. Finishes with pepper heat, dryness, & charred grain

MF: Fairly thick, near zero carbonation

Drinks pretty easy, very pricey, I would just as soon get Prairie Bomb, its cheaper & better
