2017 bottle, nicely cellared, drank Aug, 2023.
Pretty flat and don’t recall much smell to it, but really like the maple taste. Finally a beer that advertises maple actually tastes like maple, kudos there. But no bourbon barrel taste at all. Enjoyable beer to drink overall.

Too sweet to be great; cloyingly sweet and dominated by maple and molasses. Good but one note; would have liked more bourbon and less maple to be honest.

2016 vintage; drank 12/11/16 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small dark tan head; minimal lace.
Vanilla, bourbon heat, maple syrup & faint milk chocolate notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Maple syrup, vanilla & sweet milk chocolate flavors up front; strong bourbon heat notes on the finish.
Bold flavors here, but way too sweet & boozy; currently a mess, maybe time will help?

12oz bottle. No dating information found.
Opaque, black colored body. Pours with a minimal tan head which results in a swirling, bubble led partial cap and ring. Lacing spots tend to slide down into body.
Aroma is big alcohol, with dark roasted malts and slight maple.
Taste is dark roasted malts with flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and marshmallow. Oak bourbon barrel is a component. There is a definite but slight sweet flavor of maple. Big bourbon and dark fruit in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel, with a slight syrup texture. Buzz on the tongue. Supportive carbonation.
Excellent barrel aged stout with the addition of sweet maple.

Poured cold into a long-stemmed tulip, an aggressive pour yields a thin head of dark tan over a deep mahogany colored body. No highlights, because it's lightproof. Aromas and flavors are very bourbon forward, with the beer settling into a nice balance at room temperature. The roasty malt character is not overpowering, no char, a little dark fruit, a smidgen of coffee and molasses, a hint of licorice, and faint notes of maple syrup lingering on the finish. There is also some tannic astringence and a bit of barrel sourness. Some alcohol warmth, but not as much as might be expected. This is IMO much better at room temperature than at fridge temperature.
