22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a medium creamy light brown head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet bakers chocolate, roast malt, a little fruit and some alcohol.

The flavor is very sweet chocolate malt and dark fruit with some black licorice and an acidic roast ashy alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.

Overall, not nearly as good as it sounded.

Bomber, batch 002

Appearance: Black glass shows a ruby edge with direct lighting, super thick. Has a few spots of bubbles around the edge, but still laces with a gritty oily coat that seems to stain the glass.

Aroma: Belgian Quad, grape skin tannin, a lot of roasted barley, a heady barrel like alcohol layer.

Taste: Sweet, the fruity tannin is followed by a roasted coffee/barley and finishes surprisingly clean, with a lingering sweetness and light alcohol. There's a slight metallic note in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Heavy body, low to absent carbonation, full chew, oily texture, thick, drying deep into the finish.

Overall: Big old bomber, lots of alcohol, lots of flavor. I'm guessing Belgian candy in the brew maybe? Not sure where all those Belgian flavors are coming from in an Impy Stout. I like big Belgian beers, but I want to know what I'm buying, thought this was an Impy Stout. Still, very enjoyable slow sipper.

Pours maroon black with a creamy dark tan brown colored foam head with decent retention. Smells like dark fruits, grapes, cherry, plum, dark chocolate, charred roasted malt, mild smoke, dark caramel, dark molasses, ash, charcoal, licorice, with earthy herbal piney hops. Tastes like dark fruits, dried fruits, dark baking chocolate, black espresso coffee, red grape, black cherry, plum, fig, prune, charred roasted malt, smoky ash, acrid charcoal, dark caramel, dark molasses, licorice, cigar box, tobacco, with earthy herbal piney hops. Feels medium plus bodied, creamy with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a nice imperial stout.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a finger and a half of dense dark tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass leaving minimal lacing.
S: Smells of intense dark chocolate with a hint of coffee and roasted malts.
T: Taste is bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, espresso beans, and more chocolate. Hints of faded and oxidized hops with a hint of pine resin. On the swallow there's more chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and pine resin with some hints of charred wood and smoke.
M: This beer is full in body with a slightly silky feel on the palate. Carbonation is slightly effervescent but not overly so while the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a really solid example for the style. Great flavor, decent complexity, and the alcohol is hidden fairly well. I don't know how old this bottle is but it has held up pretty well. Worth a try if you like the style.

22oz bottle. The neck of the bottle is stamped 'BATCH #02 10:39'.
Opaque, black colored body. One thick finger of tan colored head. Leaves a thick web of lacing.
Aroma is dark roasted malts, fudge chocolate and black licorice. With a touch of woody molasses.
Taste is fudge chocolate and black licorice, with a touch of dark cherry and molasses. Boozy fudge in the aftertaste.
More than medium mouth feel. Good carbonation. There is a numbing to the tongue from the alcohol, but the alcohol vapors and burn are kept in check.
I like the black licorice component that balances against the chocolate fudge, but neither has more than a momentary touch of sweet. Each large sip numbs the tongue but it recovers quickly. Well made imperial stout.
