Oily black pour with a thin brown ring. Bourbon and oak aromas meld in the maple, semi-sweet chocolate, cookie biscuit, brown sugar, date, and slight char. The best best about the taste is the crescendo finish with the maple singing out of the boozy bourbon and molasses, before this the sweeter flavors fold into the brown sugar, chocolate and biscotti especially. Body is surprisingly on the thinner side, though still viscous, sticky, rich, and very boozy. Great variant, maple is strongly present without being obnoxious

Pours into a snifter jet black with a half finger deep mocha colored head atop.A heady mix of maple and vanilla tinged bourbon, sweet alcohol comes into play more as it warms.Bourbon and maple syrup soaked nutty fruit cake flavors with a warming alcohol presence in the finish,it never gets cloying or overly sticky..This is one rich but not overly sweet impy stout,it's a sipper but you could have another beer after it.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Inky black with one finger of brown head. Retention is decent, lacing exists in the form of broken rings and small spots.
S: Big fudge and chocolate cake pull. Lots of roast and char. Woody, marshmallow. Earthy. Spike of bourbon.
T: Follows the nose. German chocolate cake and fudge up front. Glazed chocolate donuts. Big roast/char layer with a little bit of an acrid edge. Nutty. S’mores. Smokey and marshmallowy. Tight berry flavor at its core. Maple syrup and woody, earthy flavors. Corny sweet bourbon swells on the back end. Long whiskey, maple, and wood finish.
M: Heavy, round, creamy, chewy. Somewhat coating. Some firmly scrubbing carbonation keeps the stickier textures from settling in. Alcohol warmth.
O: Outstanding. Pretty barrel driven and plenty of maple, though it never goes overboard. It feels balanced enough to stay relatively drinkable for its size. This is still a slow sipper of course, but it won’t leave you feeling as though you’ve contracted diabetes like a lot of pastry stouts do. For the (considerably high) price tag, I do prefer the “regular” bourbon barrel aged version and consider it to be a personal favorite. That said, this one is still able to scratch an itch. I am not disappointed. I will also note that this bottle is a good 3 to 5 years old in my estimation, and probably would have fared better if I had consumed it earlier. If there was much coffee in this one to begin with, it has certainly faded out and lost some dimension.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours deep black color with a one-finger khaki colored head that eventually reduces to a ring around the glass
S- the aroma is dominated by sweet maple, bourbon & wet oak. The barrel notes really come through. Undertones of molasses, brown sugar, roasted almonds, amaretto, vanilla, coffee & booze soaked raisins
T- sweet maple hits the palate immediately up front, followed by notes of vanilla cream, chocolate, rum soaked raisins, molasses, brown sugar, chocolate fudge & toffee. The finish brings out bourbon and wet oak, along with more vanilla, dark cherries, almond & a hint of coffee. More maple sweetness on the linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish
O- the barrel treatment really comes through, produces an incredibly complex, fantastic beer

Too sweet! Where’s the bourbon? Maple, OK, but needs something to clear it up. Just pure sugar.

Pours midnight black with slight ruby tones when held to the light. Thin dark brown head and minimal lacing. Aroma is heavenly, dark roasted chocolate malt, bourbon, maple, vanilla. Flavor follows the nose and almonds join in. Feel is thick and creamy. Easily one of the nicest beers I've ever drank, but one I cannot afford to make a regular.
