Straddling the fence of drinkable and refreshing IPA and those of richer taste ensures that Evil Twin's Imperial IPA has enough culinary art to delight all hop seekers but crisp enough to be crushable. One session with a few of these will have us all believing that we were visited by something last night.

I Believe I Was Visited By An IPA Last Night pours a hazy light amber and crowns with a frothy eggshell cap. Bold aromas span the gamut of tropical, citrus, herb and botanicals ahead of a light malt sweetness that takes the shape of caramel and honey.

Somewhat shortbread-like, the malts suddenly lift and the hops roll in. Tropical flavors of pineapple, passionfruit and kiwi come with a succulent tang while a citrusy component delivers the taste of white grapefruit, orange peels and a light lemony quality. Its bitterness billows into a firm but smooth grip in the gullet while resembling a fresh grassiness, sharp pine, juniper and hemp.

Medium bodied and trending light because of its elevated alcohol and resinous dryness, the beer exits the palate with the refreshment of standard strength IPA, having us returning to the glass much quicker than should. A long trail of bitter fruit peels and spruce outlast any more floral or fruity flavors on the after palate. I also believe that I may have been hit by a truck last night as well.

Poured from a can picked up fresh from the release at Overshores brewery.

Look is a mostly clear golden yellow. There's some sediment in the bottom so if you pour that you'll get some hazy stuff.
Smell and taste are great! (I'm pretty sure it is simcoe hops) Lots of tropical fruit, citrus rind, earthy pine resin and passionfruit flavor. Really tasty. Light malt base, not a lot of sweetness to it, very hop focused.
Nice smooth feel. Medium body with a simple malt base, it's not syrupy or super juicy, but enough bitterness to keep it balanced.

Overall, a very tasty beer!

16 oz. can dated 9/21/17

Pours hazy gold with loads of floating sediment and a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like sweet melons, berry, orchard fruit, orange citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, caramelized malt, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like sweet caramelized malt, orchard fruit, sweet melons, berry, orange citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate low carbonation. Overall a nice DIPA.
