Appearance: Pours with cloudy honey color and capped by a one inch head; wisps of lacing hang around

Smell: Papaya, kiwi and lime with a pithy element

Taste: Very bright, with the papaya, kiwi and lime flavors bursting; orange pith bitterness builds, through the middle, with a tingling bitter tone that lasts into the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate to high carbonation

Overall: Although the beer is very bright, it lacks development of a fulsome fruit flavor

Reasonably fruity, the IPA made with soul borrows what's best about the New England styled IPA but without over embellishment. Reaching tepidly for west coast bitterness and dryness, this IPA hasn't exactly forgotten its roots either.

Evil Twin's Soul Made pours with a lighter golden straw color than we've become accustomed to, and with less of the absurd visual weight, the foggy ale crowns with a creamy, ivory, lacy foam cap. Bright aromas lead with citrus but has a under current of pale and under ripened tropical fruits. Softly herbal, the perfume of pine takes charge before the first sip of honey, light pastry and simple syrups gloss the tongue.

As the succulent ale washes the middle palate in fruit flavors, its sweetness begins to drift as its malt influence becomes less of an influence over balance as the ale rolls along. Sharp and lightly acidic with white grapefruit, tangerine and lemon, the classic citrus flavors take full command of the beer's demeanor, but a backdrop of guava, yuzu, agave, green pineapple, tart mango and light gooseberry add a glimmer of complexity and interest to the otherwise one dimensional hop profile. Softly herbal, a late palate of fresh grassiness and shaven pine extends into a bright green tea finish with a resinous bitterness that applies a moderately strong tone to close.

Medium bodied, the IPA is creamy early on the palate, suggesting something slightly meringue-like, but its attempt to dry late leads to a crisp, clean and refreshed palate. Finishing lightly peppery, herbal, sprucy and grassy, this is an IPA that has found a more moderate tone in bridging the gap between two extremes in trendy hop displays.

I guess you didn’t no have to go to a brewery to procure a neipa. Not as good as the top tier but a passable representation of the style.

Undated can into tulip. Pours a hazy grapefruit-juice color, with a small off-white head. Initial impression is juicy grapefruit rind, orange, a touch of mango, honey, and maybe a little pine. Mouthfeel is juicy and thick - really excellent. Carbonation is medium - just enough to emphasize the flavors. Finish is slightly bitter, but quie smooth. All in all, an excellent NEIPA. Would definitely visit again!

We recently got CANs of this one at The FGBS & since I already had a deep delving into my Evil Twin CAN backlog planned anyway, it was an easy decision to pick this one up for The CANQuest (tm).

From the CAN: "India Pale Ale"; "Brewed for Evil Twin Brewing by Dorchester Brewing Company, Boston, MA".

I Crack!ed the CAN open, but I was curious as to how to CANduct the Glug - many reviews mention a haziness, but I strive for clarity. As such, I went with a nice, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass, but to no avail. Try as I might, the beer was pouring with a deep-haziness/light-cloudiness. I stopped what I was doing to perform an in-glass swirl that raised just over a finger of dense, rocky, bone-white head with good retention that left nice lacing in its wake. Color was a hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose reminded me of Free Will B.C.'s Cloudy With A Chance Of Charcuterie. That is to say, very juicy, with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and a tea-like earthiness. This is another of these New England-style AIPAs which I feel should be broken off into its own style. Mouthfeel was medium. As usual, I was struck by the inherent lack of bitterness in this burgeoning style. It had a very pronounced fruity sweetness, especially of tropical fruits, but I also got an earthiness, perhaps from the malt. I have to say, I was kind of underwhelmed by this one. It just did not meet the standards of the style. Finish was dry, more earthy than fruity, but just not my cuppa tea. Oh well.

16 oz can, not dated but beer shop just got this in.

Hops: Citra, but not sure what else

Smells amazing, very fruity. Taste is dank and juicy. Very low bitterness. Evil Twin has a million beers, and I lucked out by picking this one.

Pours an opaque yellow with a white head that reduces itself rather to a collar that stays intact throughout the entire beer. Lots of sudsy lacing around the edge of the glass.
Major fruit on the nose. Mild tropical fruits like guava and rollinia. Lemony sweet.
The taste if just as good, full of those same tropics with an herbal, grassy, and bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is lasting, but not coating and slowly fades from the palate.
Overall, a really great beer.

This beer pours a cloudy bright yellow orange color with a three finger, fluffy, creamy bright white head. Retention is phenomenal and there are tons of whispy patches of lacing left all over the glass.

Smell is out of this world. Just a full on fruity hop slap across the face. Pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit pith, lemon zest, and peach assault the senses the second you crack open the can. There is also a bit of an herbal floral note in the background.

Taste follows suit. Very fruity and juicy up front which is followed by floral flavors and it finishes mildly bitter with a nice herbal flavor.

Feel is light side of medium and smooth with low carbonation which is spot in for the style. There is a slight sharpness to the finish from the bitterness.

Overall this beer is excellent. Easily the best NEIPA that I haven't purchased straight from a brewery or had to trade for. If you see it, do not hesitate to purchase.
