Incredibly complex in a great way. I've tasted nothing similar to this. I was a bit nervous with the combination of Marsala wine and maple bourbon, but this is terrific. Nice heat and peppers up front, finish is vanilla, almond cocoa bomb. Well done Westbrook and Evil Twin

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours jet black in color with a one-finger foamy dark brown head that reduces to a ring around the glass
S- initial aromas are of green peppers and a bold sweet wine, followed by dark roast coffee, cinnamon, raisins, figs, dark cherries. Undertones of vanilla, marzipan, oaky bourbon and flaky pastry
T- the wine barrel immediately follows the nose with a bold, vinous-like sweetness immediately followed by a hit of green pepper and coffee. Mid-palate brings out an array of dark fruits; black cherry, booze soaked raisins, prunes and stewed cranberry. Marzipan and cinnamon kick in as it nears the finish, along with a hint of bourbon barrel. Lingers of pepper heat, dark fruits and more sweet wine barrel
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy, warming finish, lingers of pepper heat on the throat
O- complexity through the roof, but somehow it all comes together quite nicely, outstanding

L: Had this beer on-tap at Westbrook's tasting room, poured into a snifter glass. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A very enticing aroma of chocolate, booze, vanilla, coffee, roasted malt, chili peppers, spice, and caramel.
T: Tasted of a fair amount of coffee (a nice amount), some chili peppers (just a little heat), a lot of chocolate (a big ingredient), some spices (cinnamon), a little caramel, some roasted malt (present throughout), and booze (wine, especially). This is a rich, complex, and focused flavor. Delicious.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a super smooth finish. Full-bodied.
O: This is an incredibly likable, well made beer. Drinkable.
