Bottle from ABV

A very dark brown with a thin, dark brown head with good retention, this looks great! The nose is intriguing. Dark chocolate, cream, vanilla, bananas and a definite molasses note are present, The palate's a little better, with the chocolate and cream more noticeable, along with a burnt sugar note that when paired with the vanilla brings to mind a flambeed bananas. Sweet on the finish with vanilla lingering, this beer is full in body and great on the palate. A lovely, silky feel is present as well. Nice stuff.

12oz bottle poured into a sniffer.

Deep opaque black in color, the pour yields one finger of frothy tan head that stays for a while before collapsing to some long-lasting bubble film atop, several sticky lacing patch and spot appeared from time to time.

Dark chocolate, black coffee, cocoa, vanilla, molasses, toffee, dark bread, roasted, peat, charred wood, some twang of booze, dark fruits in kind of prune and plum, ripe banana, spiciness from hop, very complex aroma.

The taste is intense and powerful with all the characters of good Stout ranging from roasted and astringent note in the lead then big sweetness, dark chocolate, black coffee, cocoa, vanilla, molasses, toffee, dark bread, and charred wood. A hint of sweet and spicy alcohol too as it is hidden behind the palate. There is also a suggestion of dark fruits to mingle and add some complexity to the flavor structure and it is delicately done.

Full body with some sticky touch through the palate, smooth with some lively carbonation to generate some good crisp, finish is very dry.

Good brew indeed especially if the Stout is your glass. With that big sweetness from both malt and alcohol, this can be treated as a dessert beer and proper for sipping or ending the night.

Appearance: Pitch black, kinda thick looking, and poured with much aggression to get a half finger of medium brown sugar head - very chunky and rapidly disappears with no lacing left-overs

Aromatics: Very rich dark chocolate and roasted plums. Almost single purpose in its simplicity.

Taste: A continuation of its roasted and burnt aspects - burnt roasted scents like almond, toast, and coffee blend very well with a mildly fruit molasses. The finish holds a wonderful licorice linger that is tempered with a delightful bitter-sweet balance and it also has an odd metal tang that kind of sneaks in somewhere, barely noticeable until you get close to the end.

Palate: In relation to its flavour, it is actually quite thin. You’d think it would be really thick or sticky, but it is actually a fair bit closer to the lower end of a medium body. The carbonation doesn’t hold itself much, so it last a bit of palate action, but at least it doesn’t come off as day old crappy coffee. And its 10% is barely perceptible - leaving the palate cleanly and dry with the mildest of bitter lingers.

Overall: Very nicely done. Not as complex as I thought it was going to be, but definitely delicious. I think it lacks a bit given the other offerings that Evil Twin has had, but it is quite enjoyable none-the-less.

Bottle from the beverage warehouse in winooski vt for $5. A little thin and a little boring. A nice well rounded taste though, and the alcohol is well hidden.

Pours a pitch black with minimal head and little effervescence. Smell is a muted roasted malts, smoke, leather, some dark fruit. Taste is sweet malts forward, transition to smoke, leather, espresso and a metallic twang that is a bit off putting. Improves as it warms- body is a bit thin for the style- finish is clean.
Overall- this is a good rip- and well hidden- profile not complex and the smoky, metallic notes are a detraction- I prefer their other stouts- not my favorite and I wouldn't purchase again- though I wouldn't turn it down if offered at a party or on tap
