330ml bottle. Freshness date unclear.

A: Opaque black. The head is thin but well retained.
S: Somewhat nutty. A little vanilla.
T: Coffee. Low in roasted characters. Medium- bitterness. Semi-sweet. A little bit nutty (of hazelnut). A touch of spicy (of pepper). Alcohol hiding has been done quite well even if the flavors are weaker than many imperial stouts.
M: Full bodied. Not way too thick.
O: Unfortunately I think it's a bit weak in both smells and tastes.

Pours a blackish brown with a slight mocha head. Smells of chocolate and cinnamon with some smoke. The taste is roughly the same. There's dark chocolate, some spice and a bit of a roasted flavor. Not a lot of bitterness. The mouth is surprisingly thin. This is a decent stout, but I'll probably go a different direction.

Thoroughly enjoyed this beast of an imperial from the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. Pours a thick black with a nice brown head of foam that settles to a thick ring, great lacing, and a thin light layer. Nose of dark chocolate, subtle coffee, black strap molasses, and toffee. Flavors follow the nose with a huge dose of sweet toffee and dark chocolate likened unto a truffle. Subtle coffee and molasses blend in the middle to the back with a dark cola flavor on the aftertaste. Substantial with an awful namesake. Good carbonation makes for a smooth and creamy mouth feel that finishes with deeply roasted malts.

Excellent....but please change the name.....dookie is NOT what I want to think of when drinking a fantastic brew.

Evil Twin doesn't produce a bad brew in my opinion. This is no exception. A solid imp stout that pours nearly black with a caramel colored head. Smell indicates the 10.4% abv. Taste is full frontal. Vanilla with some banana. Not much roast flavor at all. The sweetness of the alcohol pulls through, a bit too much for me. Gets better as it warms. Overall a really good stout by Evil Twin but by no means the best.

Pours seal brown right out of the bottle with a moderate cap of variegated mocha foam. Aroma smells of molasses, brown sugar, and caramel with suggestions of dark chocolate and booze.

The taste features a healthy dose of molasses, burnt sugar, and warming alcohol, along with some toasted bread and earthy, herbal hops; welcome to slow sipper country... Heavy body and mild carbonation make for a syrupy mouthfeel that somehow manages to maintain a vigorous bite, perhaps courtesy of the hops and alcohol. Sticky residue lingers on the lips between sips.

If you like your stouts sweet and sticky, this should satisfy your craving. If, however, you prefer a more balanced or chocolatey stout, you may find this lacking. Regardless of preference, this brew is full in both flavor and body.

I knew I was going to really like this. It's probably the best $3.25 I've spent in a while. It will be a tough act to follow, but after drinking one of these not much more will be needed.

It pours like it's namesake. Liquid turds. The head is the darkest I've seen in a long time. Exceptional. Endless find bubbles keep coming. The aroma is a faintly roasty, almost chocolatey smell.

The taste is wonderful. It's well balanced. Loads of malts, but you can taste some bittering hops way under all the sweetness. Roasty and chocolatey tastes follow. The finish is sweet and clean.

This is one of the best brews I've had recently. Further proof that Evil Twin deserves blind faith. Highly recommended. This is making me think that imperial stouts, be they American, Russian, or whatever, have been taking over as my favorite style.

12oz bottle served in snifter

A: Viscous, inky black pour; sluggish pour; dark mocha froth pops to surface but head quickly shrinks to a thin ring around the edge; entirely opaque, imposing - the M/O with all of Evil Twin's imperial stouts that I've been fortunate to sample.

S: Prominent dark roast - heavily roasted coffee beans, burnt toast, char on the top; beneath rise notes of bittersweet bakers chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramelized brown sugar and suggestions of dark fruits; vanilla is absent on the nose at first, but gladly makes it's appearance as the glass warms to room temp over 10-15min; pleasant complexities invite the first sip...

T: Roast predominates as it does on the nose - dark roast, espresso-like richness, burnt toast and some smoky char; chocolate waves approach next and only grow in prominence as the glass warms, favoring bittersweet, dark cacao at first before incorporating sweeter chocolate notes reminiscent of Hershey's kisses, milk chocolate truffles, mousse, and hot a cocoa mix; creamy vanilla peaks mid sip, intensifying the dessert-like quality before a flash of California raisins, caramelized sugar my and brown bread loaf - like a slices of raisin swirl breakfast loaf or even bread pudding; finish begins with a mocha flavor that reintroducek the residual b of coffee beans with sweet powdered cocoa; lik warming alcohol pep as the finish dries that reminds you of the 10.4% ABV but the alcohol remains fully in check the entire time.

M: Pleasantly thick, with a sufficiently creamy body and a frothy presence on the tongue; coats the palate and drinks with a smooth slickness.

O: Another winner from Evil Twin; roasty, coffee/espresso bean, chocolate/mocha and vanilla, as advertised; didn't ascertain the hint of banana as the label on the bottle indicates, but hey, I've got 3 more bottles to explore to seek out further complexities; if you like imperial stouts on the sweeter side of the spectrum, this is worth a try.
