A: Pours a very hazy dark orange to copper in color. The beer has a finger tall white head that is made up of large bubbles and reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium sized thick patch and a thick ring near the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The aroma is pretty strong and dominated by the citrus hop presence - grapefruit is the dominant hop with a lighter amount of orange as well.

T: Moderate caramel malt sweetness with a very strong flavor of citrus hops - grapefruit and orange are both present. Light amounts of lingering bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable and a great combination of different citrus hop flavors and smells. Easy to drink and one I would love to have some more glasses.

Thanks to Jeppe for the share.

A - Darker, golden colored beer with a pretty big off-white head that had nice retention and left some good lace on the sides. Pretty nice looking beer.

S - Lots of resin in this one, some good pine and pine tar here. You also get a bit of floral hops and some citrus surrounding a strong malt backbone.

T - Good bitterness and resin. Has some decent citrus fruit flavors to it which help to balance out the resiny hops.

M - Smooth, moderate carbonation, medium bodied.

O - I like this beer quite a bit. Good balance with some strong flavors. Alcohol is fairly well hidden making this one go down fairly easily.

A: It pours a light amber color with orange hues when held up to the light. There is a two finger white head that clumps itself to the sides of the glass and leaves behind chunky foam. Good retention and generally poor clarity (hops galore I am guessing).

S: Wow, this smells super fresh. Mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and pine resin assert their hoppy goodness. There are some hints of some biscuit/toasty malt, but they are buried beneath the lupulin haze.

T: The taste actually lives up to the nose. Funky citrus, resinous pine cones, and dank tropical fruits shine bright. It is really juicy and jammy with no trace of the booze. The malt takes a huge back seat to the hops on this one. It finishes extremely dry and bitter, quite puckering.

M: Medium bodied, lush, and well carbonated.

O: I was surprised with the hop forwardness of this beer. From some of the other reviews I expected more malt and balance overall. Perhaps this was a really fresh bottle.

22oz bottle pored into a New Belguim snifter

Pours a cloudy copper with a 2 finger off white head with great lacing and retention.

Smells of a super rich nose of American DIPAS. Has the resinous pine, grapefruit and citrus zest you expect and true to type.

The alcohol is well balanced by a background of perfectly balanced malt and hops that follow through with pleasant bitterness and a great finish of grapefruit pineapple and ever so slight tangerine.

Truly chewy and fills the mouth with great texture.

A first from this brewery and looking forwad to trying the disco beer in the fridge.

Strong aroma is quite hoppy with a subtle evergreen undertone and a hint of sour citrus that is not quite grapefruit and not quite orange. It pours a beautiful clear dark golden amber with a thick, frothy, off-white head. Hoppy flavor has hints of evergreen, sour orange and even malt. Full-bodied texture is edgy and lively, leaving behind a hoppy tingle.

16.9 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a cloudy orange/amber color with an inch and a half frothy off-white head. Head retention is good, and there is a lot of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is citrusy (grapefruit, orange peel), pine and a bit of floral hops, along with some sweet malt. It tastes mostly like citrusy (grapefruit, lemon and orange peel) and pine hops, and a bit of malt. There's also a nice lingering bitter hoppy finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's somewhat sticky and slick with good carbonation. I think this is a good brew, now I'm looking forward to trying their other beers.

Good beer for the "Before" and I let it warm some before pouring a healthy sized, foamy, frothy, fluffy, thick, off-white head that lasts a while and plenty of lace. Color is a slightly hazy amber apricot with a number of bubble trails. Aroma is classic, heavy duty American IPA - lots of grapfruit, pineapple, citrus, resin, malt, caramel. yeast. Flavor's like nose with just more of everything, although there's a slight muting of carbonic tang and corresponds to likewise slightly soft carbonation. Body is good and full. Finish is like flavor, very long and has only an indication of alcohol. Nice beer if you're in need of a hop fix.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C.

The beer is golden to orange in color, with a finger of head that leaves ample lacing on the snifter. The aroma brings abundant citrus, fresh hops, hints of tropical fruit, a touch of malt, and pine. Nice flavor. Fresh hops, with dominant citrus flavors throughout. Alcohol is hidden well with just a light warmth in the finish. Overall, a very good beer. I would certainly have this again.

Enjoyable DIPA.
Bottle at Ginger Man NYC shared with George. Big hops, lts of orange flabour, above average carbonation. Big in face hops. A nice sweetness that made it dangerously drinkable, some cardomon perhaps contributed to sweetness as well. Above average mouthfeel.

500ml bottle into a tulip glass. There was a bottled on date perhaps but it was mostly rubbed off.

Appearance: Poured a slighty hazy and glowing orange with a big two finger white foamy head. Excellent retention and lacing all the way down.

Aroma: Grapefruit citrusy hops. Some piney resin. Mostly dominated by the tropical fruit aromas.

Taste: Grapefruit-y and tropical hops bitterness. Slight sweetness. A touch of pine resin. Some biscuit malts for a little balance. Pretty good.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and carbonation. Lingering grapefruit citrus bitterness. Easy and tasty. Would be enjoyed by any hop head.

500 ml (1 pint 0.9 fl oz.) bottle, with a bottled on date that looks like it might have said 11/16/2012. It's smeared and illegible after all this time. Not sure how old this beer is exactly, but I'm not worried. My local beer store still had a few of these sitting around, so I took the plunge for $14.99 and got a bottle. My second beer from Evil Twin Brewing.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter glass.

A - Pours two and a half fingers of fluffy creamy off-white head on top of a brilliant bright orange colored body. Head retains itself well. Some thin strands of lace, and lots of fine specks of light and dark sediment suspended in the glass. Looks very nice.

S - Smell is of sweet caramelized malt, tea leaf sweetness, and freshly baked bread loaves. Earthy, twiggy sort of hop character is still present, but has definitely fallen off some. Still, there are some zesty pineapple, mango, and peach notes present. Maybe some faint yeasty presence in there also.

T - Taste is still great. Sweet caramel malts, bitter pungent grapefruit / blood oranges, tea leaf sweetness, floral, dirty, earthy, and bready. Very smooth, sweet, and easy drinking.

M - Feel is creamy, smooth, clean, sticky, and dry, with some slight hop bitterness clinging to the palate. Perfect carbonation.

Overall, I'd say this is a winning IPA from Evil Twin, one that has held up exceptionally well. Definitely not worth the fifteen dollar price tag, but I'm still glad to have tried it. A nice beer, smooth, creamy, and ridiculously easy drinking for being 8.00% abv, but it is mainly just a slightly above average DIPA without many distinctions to set it apart from the rest of the pack. Still, give it a try if you can find and afford a bottle.

Pours a hazy orange-ish color with an off white head. In the aroma, orange citrus rind hops and a note of gingerbread like maltiness. In the taste, orange citrus rind hops, gingerbread like malt, and a small alcohol presence. A mellow hop bite, and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a lightly dry orange juice citrus, small gingerbread malt and a touch of alcohol. Big hops, somewhat malty, and a note of alcohol all the way through.
