L - Amber with a big and beautiful white head

S - Pineapple, toffee

T - Big grapefruit bitterness, pineapple, toffee, almost roasted. Herbal

F - Moderate to high carbonation, oily body

O - A real nice offering. A big dipa. Can't wait to try the yin and yang mix

Cans to snifters, sampling Yin, Yang, and the combination black and tan simultaneously, while trying to achieve a higher state of consciousness.

(%) YIN
LOOK: dark black, pretty tan head that constantly reforms upon agitation.
AROMA: quite light, mineral, roasted malt, slightest touch of coffee.
TASTE: all malt, very simple but tasty.
FEEL: very light and airy, though not completely like a guinness. Was looking for the separation in the black-n-tan, but it just mixed right up with the IPA. Ok carbonation for a stout.

(%) YANG
LOOK: orange with light brown, above average off-white head, lacing lasts throughout a long sip session.
AROMA: light touches of fruit and pine...in a crazy fractal way of looking, the Yang itself has both the YIN (dank/resin/pine/wood) and YANG (fruit/citrus/grass) of the IPA dichotomy.
TASTE: pine, tea, unflavored syrup. Slight little hairspray.
FEEL: light to medium body. Subtle, but above average carbonation.

(%) YIN/YANG

Like a black IPA.
Nice mix of hoppy and malty.
Hops win out in the aroma, but the malt dominates the flavor.

Cool concept.

So apparently the base beer here is OK Black and tan version is Great and the Yin stout is amazing also on all fronts. Appearance is good very epic looking full inch of frothy head atop a very clear deep amber brown. Smell is a bit light but balanced no ethanol smells but no real citrus or fruity hop notes tantalizing the nose. Taste is better than expected good hop to malt profile no biting bitterness and a rounded sweet finish. Body is on par for 10% it is smooth and drinkable. Overall a nice clear Yang to that excellent Yin and together make a pretty tasty black and tan. Overall not sure why it took me so long to try this but for the 4 dollars plus I spent on the single I am not too disappointed.

My wife bought the Yin and the Yang, to share on a fun evening. We tried, unsuccessfully, to make black and tans. The beers, on their own, though, were worth the try. Yang is a golden hued, caramel-colored liquid with a relatively thin white head. The aroma is of hops and booze, and the taste is intense, but a little one-dimensional. A bit of fruit, some malt, and bitterness, but not really a depth of complexity. Full in body and warming. Just okay.

12 FL. OZ. 10% bottle poured into a tulip glass. Hazy golden color with frothy, three fingers tall off white foam. Excellent lacing. Aroma is dominated by sweet malts and plenty of fruity hops, mainly apricots. There is some toasted bread and honey. Some floral hops. Flavor follows aroma. Long lasting, heavy sweetness balanced with pleasant amount of bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation and some spiciness best describe a mouth feel. Long dry finish.

It is a very, very tasty beer. Alcohol is well covered so be careful with that one. Missing some IBU in my opinion. I love malty characters of imperial IPA's, but in this case some more bitterness would be welcomed.

Dark orange and hazy. Almost a Amber look.

Smell is nice. Nice floral character.

Taste is bitter with a decent hop profile.

Feel is syrupy. So so.

Ok DIPA. I think it would have been better if I had it colder.

Four-pack copped from Bottle King. After much touting, I was rather disappointed by this brew. Needless to say the high ABV gets in the way of drinkability, and the alcohol is certainly detectable, not very well hidden. Strong malt backbone makes this beer impart something of a slight caramel flavor. Not a huge fan.
