Poured from a 500mL bottle into a stein. Served lightly chilled.

Auburn highlights suggest a clear but nearly opaque bottle-brown ale - capped by an enormous heft of khaki soft peaks. Sticky threads of lace cling tenaciously to the sides. Excellent retention.

Aromatics of demerara sugar, cocoa nibs, toast, coffee, black bread - all soft and melanoidin-rich with no hints of char.

Roast is more pronounced on the palate, the chocolate and espresso notes taking on a nearly acrid character, the citrus laden hop notes emphasizing the astringency while adding slight additional bitterness. Strange but flavorful, with an extended evolution into the finish which is woody, earthy, suggestive of river stones, and finally returns to a toasted sweetness at the last possible moment.

Slightly thin but well carbonated; surprisingly warming for the ABV.

Reminds me of a sweeter version of a foreign export stout. Not bad, but not special. Hard to rate in some ways as it subtly eschews style.

This beer wasn't very good and I'll tell you why. For one, it smells exclusively of fresh hops--as in the packets you buy from the home brewing store. The beer tastes like coffee that's been watered down. Unpleasant to drink. The people who reviewed this highly probably felt bad about spending money on something they disliked. It's not good and I'll never have one again.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a clear glass tulip. Batch#002 on bottom of can.

A: Amber-brown, clear, one-finger light beige head with average retention and only wispy lacing.

S: Strong black coffee aroma with mid-caramel toffee and herbal hopping.

T: Coffee dominates throughout mainly due to the indistinct, middle of the road nature of the underlying base beer, which has low character. A bit of astringent huskiness in the finish.

M: Light bodied and finishes dry with moderate to high carbonation.

O: Nothing to lose sleep over.

Pours a tawny brown with a billowing thick light tan colored head atop that finally settles into a frothy mass.Mild roast with quite a citric hop profile, light bitter chocolate underneath as well.Roast and caramel upfront on the palate but a pretty quick drying earthy finish making for decent balance.A fuller feel is nice for the style. Not bad, close to being very good, just missing a little something.

16 oz can...Batch 001on the bottom

Pours pretty dark brown, darker oatmeal head, dense and frothy...slowly relaxing then ending in a thicker film and leaving
scattered lace all the way up the glass. Nice looking brew.

Sniff is all about dark maltyness

Milk chocolate, cafe au lait all over this one....soft mouthfeel, tasty brown ale....semi sweet with dark Malty goodness. Quality abounds....well worth a try

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big two finger light tan head which settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A roasty, hoppy, and fairly sweet malt driven aroma with a scent of coffee, toast, and citrus. Roasted malt with a scent of coffee beans, chocolate, toast, biscuit, grains, toffee, caramel, and hazelnuts with some yeast. Citrus hop hints of orange and lemon. Subtle hints of spice. Sweet hints of brown sugar. A very solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty, hoppy, and fairly sweet malt forward taste with notes of coffee, toast, and citrus. Roasted barley malt with notes of coffee beans, chocolate, biscuit, toast, grains, hazelnuts, caramel, and toffee with some yeast. Some citrus hop notes of orange peel and lemon. Sweet notes of brown sugar. Also some subtle notes of grass and spice. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, and somewhat oily with a drying finish.

Overall: A very good take on a coffee infused Brown ale. Good coffee bean and nut flavor with a nice touch of hops.

500ml bottle, 6.9% ABV, and a different label. Made with gourmet beans from the Coffee Collective in Copenhagen.

This beer pours a very dark red-tinted brown hue, with three fingers of densely foamy, rocky beige head, which leaves some broad, droopy, honeycomb-pocked swaths of lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of bitter piney, citrusy hops, immediately inundated with equally tangy, dry, earthy, roasted coffee grounds, a mild nutty caramel malt, and further leafy, herbal liqueur notes. The taste is more malty up front, the lightly toasted bready, nutty caramel character ceding a little less territory this time, as aided by a burgeoning baker's chocolate sweetness, though the zingy citrus rind, pine resin, and bitter, earthy coffeehouse essences still push their agenda to the limit. A wee booze warming tugs at the fraying corners.

The carbonation is quite tame, though the wee bubbles do well to keep things moving along, the body a decent medium-full weight, and smooth with that lingering hop bite caveat. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa/caramel/nut liquor malt still fending off a prominent incursion from a seemingly regrouped hop contingent.

A pretty hefty brown ale, lots going on, and I do like that the coffee notes, so pungent up front, wane at a slow, almost unnoticeable pace, until you can't even tell that they've somehow been (mostly) replaced by an equally implacable chocolate aura. Oh, and the hops - they keep things honest with extreme prejudice.

The hoppiness of this brew completely masks any and all other flavors, making the coffee supposedly added to this brew undetectable. Furthermore, and perhaps a minor gripe, is that the hoppiness similarly overshadows all of the brown ale's malt backbone, which I suppose is fine for the "American" style (though not my personal preference)

Pours an effervescent chestnut/orange with 3+ fingers of tan head. Pretty good lacing & head retention

S: Toasty, coffee notes, a little hazel nut

T: Coffee, coffee grounds, dryness & a touch of vanilla up front. Dryness, charred grain, roastyness & less brown ale as this warms, some toastyness does linger at the edges, some woody hops. Finishes with coffee grinds, some toastyness & dryness

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation

Drinks fairly easy, not great, but worth a try I suppose

Got this in a 16oz can for a dollar fifty at my local beer store. Might go back for a larger quantity!

Look: Dark brown with reddish hues around the edges. Carbonation sticks around for a good half hour to 45 mins, or about as long as I took to drink it.

Smell: Dark roast coffee with slight hints of vanilla.

Taste: Starts out like a slightly bitter but finishes creamy and dark.

Feel: Slight bite on the sip, but like the flavor it ends much smoother.

Overall: Yet another in the long line of successful choices I've made recently. Solid beer I'd definitely return to.
