Alcohol by volume (ABV): 13.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Did you like Before, During, & After Christmas? Maybe you thought it poured brilliantly, and you loved of the arrogant amounts of hops wowed you. This beer will knock your tongue off, essentially due to the obscene amount of hops that went down this explosive fella. It’s a tour de force in hoppiness and by far the craziest beer made by Evil Twin… but not the last.

Brewed at Fanø Bryghus.

12oz bottle purchased from local grocery chain for $3.25.

Honey colored brew, haze and precipitant, minimal white foam quickly dissipates to a tiny rim. No lacing. Alcohol legs.

A nice pine resin, spice and earth aroma. Some subtle grapefruit and citrus.

The dank, resin hop profile predominates with a subtle undertone of tropical fruits. A bit of biscuit malt on the finish. A bit of alcohol burn.

Big body, alcohol, sticky.

I am rating this as a triple IPA and as such it is a really nice, extremely hopped sipper.

Gold-amber with a soft thin collar.

Smell is grass, rug resin, weed, and bread.

Taste is Sweet Tarts, hot grapefruit, bread, weed, and onion.

This puppy is really pungent, and sharp, like a pine forest fire.

Batch #022 poured into a Waterford (classy!) white wine glass

A - Pours a golden yellow/orange with a conservative, 1-finger white head. The last bit of the pour introduced a massive amount of 'floaties' that remained in suspension throughout the drinking experience. (3.5)

S - Citrus and Tropical...juicy orange is the first noticed followed by mango and grapefruit zest. Although subtle, there is a sticky, resinous quality lingering in the background. For 13% ABV, the alcohol is completely masked on the nose. A tad one dimensional, but smells delicious nonetheless. (4.5)

T - Nectar of the Gods. The sweet citrus and tropical vibe found in the nose carries through onto the palate. Sweet citrus (orange, clementine, grapefruit), fleshy tropical fruit (mango, papaya) converge with a solid malt backbone to bring this behemoth into focus. The flavors blend with precision. (4.75)

M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation (non-nucleated glassware used) Molotov Cocktail presents itself well. After the sip, the palate is left abrasively sticky and dry, forgoing any notion that this IPA 'cloying' in any facet. As a matter of fact, this beer could be considered refreshing at at the proper moment, but respect is paid to its heft and it is a treat to sit back and enjoy. (4.75)

O - I have had this beer on numerous occasions with varying degrees of pleasure and this one ranks at the top of the heap. Since the 'floaties' do not look like yeast or any by-product of the standard brewing process, I can only surmise that they are the result of the 'natural flavors' added. This is a gargantuan IPA that maintains aroma, mouthfeel, flavor and bitterness all in balance making Molotov Cocktail a memorable high gravity IPA ('Triple' IPA, if you will). My only criticism comes in the form of the bottle dating...batch codes mean nothing to the consumer and would love to know when something like an IPA was packaged (or a Best By Date, at least). That said, if Evil Twin wants to continue the charade of bottle dates, then I now have my reference the next time I look for another 4-Pack of Molotov Cocktail (4.5)

Batch #022. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with a subtle haze and lots of floaties/sediment; nice eggshell white head that falls leaving great retention and nice lacing. The aromas have a nice amount of garlic and onion notes. Some rubber notes as well. Very musty. Malts are there. The flavors seem to follow the nose. More garlic, onion and rubber notes. Some tropical and citrus notes in the mix. I'm picking up some pineapple and grapefruit. It's slightly spicy. Solid malt backbone, but the malts don't diminish the hops at all. There's some warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very smooth and dangerously drinkable.

This is a solid Double/Triple IPA or whatever you want to call it. I usually like the garlic/onion aromas, but something isn't working for me. The hop flavors seem to be what doesn't do it for me personally. The craftsmanship is impressive though. I like how it drinks like a big beer but remains smooth. It's fun to drink.

Okay. My nose has been shot since I was a kid (my dad was a smoker), so I can't discern much smell -wise. And I work at Microsoft. There's the background. When I get home on Friday nights, I want something interesting, fairly strong, and fairly inexpensive. I saw this beer in Whole Foods. 13% IPA for $8. Sounded like a bargain. It was. Very strong, but very drinkable. Notes of inexpensive and a long finish of relaxing. Highly underrated.

A hazy gold color, not much head. Scent is very dank with hints of citrus and alcohol. Taste is similar: piney, a bit of citrus, but fairly bitter. At the same time there's an underlying sweetness with flavors of brown sugar and toffee. Feel is somehow oily yet dry and crisp, esp. for a big beer. Not a great beer but a definite near-miss and the kind of big, strong face-biter I like to drink every one in a while.

L: copper orange. Little head. Just ok.

S: smell is ok. Bitter hops with a slight slight citrus.

T: holy crap that's hoppy. If you like a strong bitter bomb this is it. The first sip was the most in your face. The name says it all. It did get better as I drank it.

F: again like it's name. Fire bitter and alcohol heat.

O: I think the beer does what it is intended for, but it's not really my thing. But if you are a big hop head you will like it.

Picked up a bomber of this for around 9 bucks tax included so quite a sweet deal.

A - Quite hazy bright yellow orange color with surprising full inch of frothy head that takes a bit to dissipate to a small foam cap.
S - Quite full of bright simcoe hops very sweet smelling notes of pineapple and some bittering hops as well. No ethanol which is a surprise.
T - Wow very nice balance sweet then bitter hops with a warming bit of booze in the finish. Bitterness lingers on the tongue with each sip.
M - ABV shows quite a bit it is smooth but medium to heavy in body.

Overall an insane Triple IPA that is not only balanced but quite bitter and the price is pretty great for bomber standards!

Almost clear, a deep gold with just a smidge of head dabbed on the top. The ring of head leaves a delicate ring of lacing. The aroma isn't huge but it has a distinct hops note, I get mostly pine. The body has a nice caramel sweetness to it that strongly offsets the heavy simcoe, balancing it out. The body isn't too heavy but has a nice thickness to it with just a little bitterness bite on the finish.

22 oz. Bomber

Pours a very nice thick/slightly cloudy dark golden orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with some very nice citrus notes, and pines. The taste is very nice hoppy, very nice sweetness, a nice touch of citrus and pine notes. Full body, ABV is hidden very well, very nice chewyness, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this one really surprised me, very tasty brew. Recommended.

Looks decent, but whoa this smell is off the charts dank, so much so that it borders on stank resinous. Nearly a gas-like impression at one point. There's also a hint of tropical fruit somehow. But make no mistake, this nose is beastly. I even get open ketchup packet at one point.
Taste is super hoppy, bitter and has a tropical malt backbone.
Feels full and oily. Burns after a few sips.
Interesting enough, but big boozy stuff.

Wow! I cannot say enough good things about this beer.

It has a rich copper color. A bit hazy but not unexpected.
The hops and malt tingle the senses as you breathe in its aroma.
The taste is an assault of hops balanced with a rich malty flavor.
You can feel the burn of the alcohol as it flows down your throat.
This is one of the best beers I have ever had. It is truly amazing!

L - Not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about. Poured a very light and hazy copper, practically blonde. Huge head that dissipated nicely, tons of floaters and suspended particles.

S - Smells great! Nice floral aroma, heavy with fermented fruit. Almost smells a bit acidic.

T - Heavy with hops right off the bat but not too bitter! Lots of apricots and a bit of grapefruit. Finishes slightly bitter but balanced, with a hint of what can only be described as leafy vegetable (I know, strange, but its good).

F - Medium bodied, not very carbonated. kind of slippery feeling on the tongue, but not bad at all.

O - Pretty good! Will definitely drink again. Really surprised at how well it hid the alcohol and at how balanced it was, and it's still sort of refreshing! The ABV is definitely there though, a couple of these will do you well. Definitely recommended!

Look - nice rusty orange color that is typical of barleywine type beers or high alcohol DIPA's. Poured gently with no head whatsoever. Effervescence is there. No particles suspended and no haze.

Smell - sweet malty, alcohol present, surprisingly not much of a hop note but some citrus. Not very complex.

Taste - citrus up front quickly followed by alcohol finishing sweet. I like it but fear it will wear on me quickly as it warms. Yes, it definitely gives that impression that if you lit a rag in the top of the bottle you would have a weapon on your hands!

Mouthfeel - Medium. I've had thicker DIPA's. This is probably thinner due to the high attenuation. I am pretty happy that it is not thicker or it would really get old fast.

Overall - won't buy it again. It just doesn't hit the mark for me. I wanted something with a higher ABV today and it delivered. However, on a drinkability scale it comes in to low. I have 3 more of these and will be lucky to get in one more at the rate I am sipping through this. Very pricey as well at $13.00 for a 4pack at HEB grocery store in TX.

Bought s bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. Beer pours with a medium head that dissipated into a thin ring around the glass. Relatively clear with a burnt orange-yellow appearance. Warm and thick aromas of spiced hops, alcohol, pine, sharp citrus, and even some dark fruit like plums or raisins. Taste follows the nose with a sharp tart aftertaste. Mouthfeel is good and helps to give the beer a crispness with a warming alcohol body. Overall, really enjoyed this boozy imperial IPA.

A: a dark blonde, almost amber color.
S: rancid fruit, aka dorito feet.
T: a frothy scotch taste that I can feel in my bones, with a citrus afterbirth.
M: HAWT FIRE, light but then it explodes in the back of your throat.
O: it really tongue punches your fart box (instant hb)

Very enjoyable, the flavor is quit well balanced between hops, sweetness, and the higher ABV of this massive IPA. One and done is an apt description as you will be liable to voraciously consume this one and then feel the effects.

Small bubble carbonation and a murky orange color. Small head, minimal lacing. Smell is overpowering of fruit. Orange and grapefruit perhaps. Taste is thick and heavy. This beer hides the alcohol, but at the expense of a thick syrupy cover that makes it difficult to enjoy. Keep a glass of water handy cause you will want a diluter. Mouthfeel is better than I expected. It is smooth and comfortable. Probably once and done for me

12 oz. bottle into a New Belgium snifter. Pours a deep amber and settles as a vibrant copper in the glass. Tons of sediment in there. Topped off with a massive 2+ finger head which resulted from an aggressive pour. Upon getting a nose on this one, my sinuses instantly burned. Just an incredible amount of booze, hops, and ripe fruit (tangerene, mango, grapefruit, grapes). I'm also picking up a slight vegetal aroma from this, but could just be the yeast & malt. Upon tasting, and despite the offputting aroma, I'm met with a medley of sweet, ripened tropical fruit (grapefruit, mango, pineapple, kiwi), biscuity & caramel malt, and a touch of vanilla on the finish. Very little alcohol, surprisingly. Great feel, too. Very warm, filling, and creamy. A little bit of hotness on the aftertaste, but I'd never believe this beer was 13%.

Overall, very enjoyable. The smell was a little offputting, mainy due to the cloying sweetness. This one really surprised me, though, once I tasted it. Definitely a sipper, but delicious none the less.

An expected cloudy brownish orange with a 3/4 inch head that stayed the duration. Was love at first sip with an excellent hop aroma and taste. Good medium heavy mouth feel. Plenty of staying power on the tongue, too. Totally enjoyed this one from start to finish. Should be one of the higher rated Imperial IPAs, in my opinion.

Murky orange appearance w/ small head and fine lacing. Smelled like a typical DIPA--pine, citrus, bisquity/caramelly malt. Tasted about the same, but more pine than citrus. Not really any nuance here, but that's what I expected. Considering the ABV, the alcohol is pretty well hidden though it comes through in the aftertaste. The body of this monster malt bomb is almost too syrupy. A more complex hop profile could maybe cut through that, but maybe not. Overall, I liked it well enough, but for the price? I just don't know. Obviously, it's priced right for the huge malt bill, but I don't know that I enjoyed it enough to buy it again. Unless I really wanted to get loaded...

This is a chunky brew. It's yellow, but you can cut it with a knife. Fine little bubbles exude.

The aromas gives indication of the malty rate to come. The after taste is clean.

This is a beer you should seek out

Extreme! Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a snifter. Approximately 5 months past bottling date. Nicely balanced, with lots of sweet malts and an equal amount of hoppy bitterness. Still plenty of hop character, and quite a bit of warmth from the high ABV. This is an all-out assault, so enjoy responsibly!
