Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

This is my fourth beer from Evil Twin. I am bit reluctant to leave a review as what I am tasting doesn't jibe with what I am reading in the other reviews and I am suspicious of my can (fortunately, I have 3 more cans and can edit this if my taste buds improve) . That said, I don't see (or taste) any evidence there is something wrong with the beer I am drinking.

For the aroma, I am getting mostly an alcohol smell . . . no coffee, no vanilla, nothing. The taste matches the smell. A little bitter and a lot of alcohol. This hits me like some barrel aged offerings (Kentucky, Uinta) and 180 degrees off from the ET Even More Jesus. All-in-all, not something I am likely to buy again (but I will finish the 4 pack).

Solid effort by evil twin here. Pours with very little head that dissipates quickly, but it's a stout so I guess you can't expect too much there. Smells like a bakery that also serves coffee. Super nice smell. Chocolate, coffee, sugar, vanilla, nuttiness, malty toasted marshmallows maybe? The taste is not quite as on point as the smell. Still a delicious beer, but it loses something in translation from nose to palate. I can't detect any alcohol at all which is saying something for an abv of 11.5. A very excellent stout. Solid two thumbs up.

Pours jet black with very minimal light tan head.

Smell is almond, fudge , and lightly roasted sweetness.

Taste is very good with nice sweet light chocolate finish and no hint of booze at all.. I have no idea how they hid this much abv but they did..

Feel is full bodied but ive had thicker stouts for sure, very smooth light oil texture to it ..

Overall i don't think it gets much better than this, others may compare but its right there with the best of em..

Will buy again for sure..

Very dark with a good sized head. Smooth and tan. Big, rich nose with vanilla, almond and fudge. Some coffee way in the back. Flavor is coffee, then a punch of fudge brownie. Sweet cream/custard winds through as it warms. Lighter feel. Nice alcohol burn.
