Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Jet black color with a small mocha colored head that quickly dissipates.

Smells of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and faint licorice. Lovely.

Taste mimics the nose. Very complex. Waves of flavors hit the palate. Everything blends well. Very impressive. No booze detected.

Mouthfeel is vicious and slick. Medium body and somewhat creamy. Low carbonation and smooth.

I am impressed with this one. Well integrated and enjoyable. Very flavorful and drinks nicely. Highly recommended.

22oz bottle served in a large snifter. I don't see an obvious date.

Pours black with no head. Little or no carbonation. Smell is maple bourbon, vanilla and smoke. Roasty. Chocolate. Smells very nice.

Taste is sweet, syrupy, vanilla, chocolate, licorice, but surprisingly mild.

Mouthfeel is silky, smooth, but a little flat. Overall, not bad, but not exceptional.

1 pint 6 oz bottle poured into a Prairie Artisan Ales snifter L: pitch black with a thick creamy brown head and spotty lacing A: mild sour cherry note with coffee and bitter chocolate, and almond scents T: flavor follows the nose; sour and bitter with sweet milky almond and vanilla overtones M: medium and creamy with a coating residue O: a little overrated in the scarcity and price, but an enjoyable beer.

*Update- 6/15/16 bought a 4 pack of cans. This is on the level of Cigar City's Marshall Zukhov's or Caffe Americano. Very impressive stout. I plan on getting another 4 pack.
