Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

A - nice deep brown and strong head
S - light sweetness (too light though)
T - completely hides alcohol heat, but chocolate and coffee flavor is very light
M - nice thickness
O - nice, but too light in flavor for me - needs stronger something to distingush it

Pours a jet, light-evading black, with a medium-thin sized, dark creme/motor oil head. A far bit of dark lacing is left after taking a sip. It smells dark, with an aroma composed of roasted malts, sweet pastries, toffee, caramel, and espresso. The taste extravagance opens with a dark chocolate flavor, before fading into dark fruits, espresso, and toffee. Mouth feel is mouth coating, while still being smooth and creamy. If anything is missing here, maybe boldness. It feels a bit thin, albeit, fantastic. Overall, an absolutely marvelous beer. So many flavors and aromas going on, while still being manageable and not overwhelming.

Served in a 12oz snifter.

Pours dark with a mocha head with a slight red tinge. Smell is amazing, almost like a dunkaccino with roasted malt. First taste is dark chocolate that transitions into a type of dark fruit in the middle of the tongue then ends with big roasted malt flavors. Mouth feel is medium, expected a bit fuller mouth feel but not too thin. Overall it is a great imperial stout of something that I was looking for, something dunkaccino-esque. So if you like those you'll love this.
