Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

A: Pitch black as a stout should be. Barely any head.
S: Chocolate Fudge and undertones of coffee.
T: More chocolate fudge with a subtle finish of coffee. Pure Dessert!
M: About average for an imperial stout. Would like it to drink a tad thicker but overall, it's good.
O: Fantastic beer. Very decadent and fudgy. Glad this is readily available as I'll be grabbing more.

L - DARK. Very dark. Little foam head, which breaks up quickly.

S - Cocoa, seemed like all it was.

T - Lots of chocolate and sweet tasting. Not being a chocolate fan, this is just too much chocolate for my liking.

F - Better after taste than initial. Not as intense as the chocolate upfront.

O - Not being a chocolate fan, it really hurts my overall score of this beer. I will say though, that as it warmed and I drank the 22oz bottle, it did get progressively better.

This is a big, dark, delicious imperial stout.

The appearance is fantastically pitch dark, with a thick looking body and frothy tan head from the draft pour.

It is extremely dessert forward, layers of chocolate and drip coffee open up as this warms. Vanilla and cookies come out to play as well.

A decadent beer, one that leaves you with a sweet and complex aftertaste and a strong satisfaction.

Drink by 2015 on the side, let's see if it's right. L - Black as night and flat as a board. S - Sugar in the raw and dried fruit. There is chocolate and coffee in the back end and overall extremely sweet. T - Chocolate and coffee up front here with booze at the finish. It's nearly overpoweing and has a bit of harsh finish like coffee with 2 sugars and no cream. Still very good as the scent lingers after the harsh finish. F - A bit lighter than the smell and taste led me to expect. O - Very good beer, and the best I've had from from Eviltwin, but the finish is too harsh to bump into elite status and the price of admission at roughly $20 for a bomber takes it down a further notch. There are far better beers in the $10 - 18 range but this was worth a trip. Cheers

Extremely dark black brew, topped by a dark brown head. Decent head size; bit of fizz; nice retention; some lacing.

Strong aroma, with cola, a touch of chocolate and coffee, and dark fruits and red grapes. Sweet, smooth chocolate really starts to come out as it warms.

Rich, flavorful, dark, hot, big, balanced; these all come to mind. There's no real masking the high ABV on this one; it's up front and proud. Insane amounts of smooth, sweet chocolate; lasting roasted bitterness on the back-end; coffee up front and throughout the first half (before being supplanted by chocolate); a touch of sour fruit quickly overwhelmed by the darker flavors. Hints of vanilla, nuts, and char complement the overall profile.

Fairly thick feel; slightly hot; long finish. Not quite chewy.

A really exceptional brew! Once it warms, tastes of sweet coffee and glazed almonds. The only problem I have with this beer is it's price point. Picked it up for 17.99 a bottle. Yikes!
