Bomber poured into a 22oz snifter. The brew appears a hop hazed clouded golden yellow color with a white cap a finger strong that fades leaving spotty lace. A swirl revives the cap which fades back to a thin film.

The aroma is hoppy with almost a citrus meets grapefruit character before getting lemony lactic. At times, the hops come through with almost a noble herbal feel then it blends back to grapefruit, lemon and more citrus notes.

The taste is tart and lemony lactic with a firm citrus to grapefruit juicy and zesty aspect with very low-key bitterness. The hops impart a bit of green bell pepper flavoring before a bit of dusty grain aftertaste comes into play.

This is light bodied, moderately carbonated offering. It is easy drinking and a very refreshing summer brew. Its bright and hoppy smelling but tart and refreshing like a well made berliner weisse should be. Great stuff here but thats no surprse considering the guilty parties involved in brewing this.

On-tap at Beer Street, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is hazy very pale yellow in color. It poured with a thin white head and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation.
S: There are strong aromas of sour grapefruit in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has strong flavors of sour grapefruit, but like a real grapefruit and not like the grapefruit hops that you are accustomed to.
M: It feels quite light-bodied (but not watery) on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very refreshing and thirst-quenching—a perfect sessionable beer for a hot summer day. It’s very unique and reminds me of a Berliner Weissbier with a large dash of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.

All other session ales, you have met your match! And sour ales: you're not far behind. Where the taste of the original Bikini Beer was fine and dandy, it was a mere glimpse of what's to come next!

The familiar light straw bulb that casts a hazy glow and an arid creaminess of froth to cap, the appearance is as innocent as any beer can be. Even the aromas lead with the tropical and citrusy allure of hops with only a slim musty fruit note wafting about. Its that earthy, briny and pungent note that foreshadows what's to follow.

The tangy ripeness of pineapple, red grapefruit, tangerine and passionfruit play on the early sips, and while its seemingly fructose-laden sweetness supports the hops. But suddenly the taste takes a nosedive into sour territory. A blast of lemon, lime and acutely acidic sourness penetrates the jowls and takes the adult palate back to childhood "warheads". Yet as the hop taste is expected to trend more bitter, something sudden and sinister happens- sourness occurs instead!

With the sourness latching on and slowly releasing, the light-bodied and bone-dry ale casts aspirations of dried citrus, crabapple, cork must, and lemon soda on the finish that seem to all wisp away in a fast-fleeting glimpse. Remarkably refreshing and highly characterful- this low alcohol option is perfect for the keeping the party rolling without giving up taste... or for simple ceviche.

i loved this session beer, and am super into the style right now. i love how hoppy it is. sour like sucking on a lemon, and hoppy like sucking on a lemon too, its a cool marriage of citrus sourness and acidity, as well as citrus forward hops in high doses. its not too much, because its got the mouthfeel of carbonated water, light and clean and clear, despite being hazy to look at and rather yeasty overall. so light and bright, with a majorly citrus and floral hop nose that shows its about to be sour too. the flavor starts with a wheaty grain and lactic pucker, followed by bright citra hops and tangerine zestiness. acid is high, carbonation is higher, and refreshment is unparalleled. i know its weird and unconventional, and some in our party thought it tasted like floor cleaner, but i thought the citrus was more authentic than that, super fresh and alive, and i loved this beer on the whole. a great spin on the base beer, which i thought was pretty darn good too. we need more beer this drinkable and this full of flavor. a winner in my book, despite its critics.

On the docket: 12 oz. can of Evil Twin's Sour Bikni

Poured into: Innis & Gunn stemmed craft glass

S: A hazy golden-bronze body shows off its glory in the glass, topped by a dense eggshell cap. Despite the haze, you can see bubble activity zipping up from the bottom. Lacing is very clingy and consistent, resembling icing dripping down the sides of a cupcake. Great head retention.

A: This beer initially possesses about as much aroma as a bikini provides coverage. It's subtle, fruity and a bit funky. The faint blend of peaches and citrus are most apparent. Smell closely and you might also pick up a slight minty and peppery spice phenol fighting for attention against the horse-blanket funk and sourness. Just a touch of pale malt sweetness, too. One might even detect a whiff of eucalyptus. Hops are in there somewhere. All in all, a complex aroma, one worth trying to tease out all the nuances. Let it warm up before trying to take it all in.

T: Intangible is right. Tart, tangy, funky. Great bright citrus in the front of the palate, coupling with some strings of peach and orange to tie the fruit together. The middle gives a spritz of tangy wheat and a delicate sweetness to it. The brew finishes a little lactic and funky.

F: Light, spritzy. Delicate and well carbonated. Finish lingers on the tongue and puckers the cheeks slightly.

O: Impressive amount of flavor packed into such a small beer. This one cones in at 3% abv, so bring this to the beach, the lake, the pool, anywhere you want something crisp and refreshing for hot weather in the sun. Excellent sour.

12oz can - I just can't conjure in my mind how a bikini could ever be considered 'sour'.

This beer pours a clear, medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy eggshell white head, which leaves some layered and sudsy cloud lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of a heady blend of domestic citrus and fleshy stone fruit (think oranges and peaches, both ripe), a gentle sourness (part lactic and part fruit-borne), faint earthy funk, subtle crackery pale malt, and a bit of plain leafy and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and bready pale and wheat malt, tart lemon, orange, and white grapefruit pith, zingy peaches and nectarines, a sort of milky funk, and maybe a touch of that ol' hard water flintiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate and tongue hugging frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, just a twinge of wayward funk not toeing the party line, as such. It finishes off-dry, the inherent fruitiness pairing with a lingering malt to provide the foil to the persistent (and mostly still fruity) sourness.

Overall, a very refreshing and easy to put back sour offering, as the robust fruity essences keep this one lively, rather than overly funky. And hey, with the paltry 3% ABV, one can better manage the bikini lines that are currently abounding, whether they are your own, or you are just a casual fan.
