I love everything about this beer except the alcohol taste. The beer tastes great except for the alcohol taste. It looks great. You smell it and it tastes great. As soon as that alcohol taste bites you it is not that great.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 5/21/14.

Appearance: totally black with a thick finger of rich, frothy dark-tan foam. Very good.

Smell: extremely rich aroma of chocolate, malt and rich, dark fruits: raspberry, cherry, date, raisin; it's like a Belgian quad and a porter got together. This seriously appeals to me.

Taste: much like the aroma, it's extremely rich and fruity. The same dark fruits are there, along with chocolate and a very impressive smoothness for a beer this strength. Two words: more please.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a big carbonation and very good creaminess indeed. Shazam!

Overall: there are few beers as spot-on calculated to appeal to my taste. I love this.

Pours a deep dark cola brown with a thinner beige head atop that doesn't last long, aromas of dark fruit and brown sugar really jump out at ya,sweet alcohol and a faint nuttiness there as well.Dark fruit and a whiskey-like flavor up front with minimal roast and more molasses and brown sugar sweetness in the end,it's all of 11.5% here. It's big and pretty sweet but I like it,sweet but not overly so it's a great sipper.

The beer is a viscous black. Great aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and dark fruit. Tasted of dark coffee, some sweet chocolate, and raisins. A little bit of an alcohol burn.
Great beer.

I am not sure why this one isn't rated higher. This was my first 'imperial porter' so I am not sure what that means as compared to a Imperial Stout but I will go with it...

A: Looks like an Imperial Stout, super dark with a nice dark brown head. This really was a great beer to break in my new KBS glassware.

S: Amazing and full of sweet chocolate with hints of plum. This must be why they are calling this an Imperial Porter.

T: Taste follows the nose, this beer is sweet but since I don't love sweet stouts, it wasn't too bad when compared. The taste didn't have the super dark taste to it that I would expect in an Imperial Stout, just a tad lighter.

M: Thick and viscous, nothing to complain about

O: This was such a good beer. For being 11.5%, I was floored at the lack of hotness it had. Only after it had warmed for a while did I get any kind of burn. I highly recommend trying this one, I hope I can score some more of this soon.

A: Nearly jet black with a light brown and foamy head. Like being out in the country, in a forest, on a cloudy night. Dark man, real dark.

S: Fresh tar, charcoal, and booze. If you ever worked or lived near a coffee roaster then you'll get the nose on this beer. Just dirty nasty char funk.

T: Pardon the redundant obviousness of this description. It has this funky fermented quality. And for anyone who likes kimchi you'll know what I mean. It also has this sour wine thing going on that makes my head spin. You'll also get the typical coffee and chocolate notes.

M: Sticky with a low, but lingering, carbonation. Surprisingly, not super heavy for an 11.5.

O: Lil' B is a very sexy beer. There is so much going with this beauty it's hard to come up with a complete and worthy summation. It's incredibly aggressive whilst retaining a refined elegance.

If if you see her, don't hesitate. Make your move or she'll end up between the sheets of another suitor.
