Lil' B Imperial Porter Evil Twin

A: Dark brownish black with a outer ring of chocolate brown colored head
S: Sweet candy sugar
T: Rich, delicious chocolate with a lingering sweetness that finishes with a faint roasted malt notes. Chocolate never goes away, some leather notes upon retro olfaction
M: Medium to light carbonation compliments the overall experience. A little slick, but smooth with some mouth coating. Like chocolate fudge.
O: Delicious imperial porter. This beer is well balanced and yummy as hell.

BTW... I made this review while evaluating the beer before viewing others evaluations and lol, you have got to be kidding me with the pretentious douchery. GTFO with the dark fruit, figs, vinous, sans banana nonsense. A simple and delicious beer.

Bought this as a local crowler fill. (32 ounce can) Black or dark brown opaque with one finger of brown head. Good retention for such a big beer. Some spots of lace.
Smell is mostly vanilla with a bit of chocolate.
Taste is sweet molasses vanilla a bit of coffee and cherry. A little like eating those liquor chocolate covered cherries.
Mouthfeel is full with ample carbonation. Finish is sweet and lightly dry.
Overall a really big beer in every way.

Pitch black, oily body with almost no head; low acidity.
Smells like licorice and bourbon.
The taste is similar to a good liquor, aged in oak casks and vanilla.
Sweet aftertaste, dried fruits.
The alcohol is very well mixed with the complex aromas.
A highly recommended porter!

Had this in the cellar for a little more than a year. Opaque, except for deep, brown edges. Aromas of licorice abdominal berries, like a black licorice twizzler. Also, chocolate covered cherries. Taste follows, with a hoppy bite at the end. Full-bodied, nice and oily.
Overall, really fantastic. One the best strong Porters.

Bottle to snifter.

LOOK: dark black, medium khaki head.
AROMA: roasted malt, a bit weak, shoving my nose in further I get something chemical or vinegar.
TASTE: much more solid. Dark fruits dominate, blueberry, black cherry, raspberry.
FEEL: thick, syrupy.

Pretty good porter.

Pitch black like motor oil, no carbonation. There's a half finger of rusty chocolate milk head.

Smells really fruity and floral, of coffee and liquorice all sorts. Coco powder and dried tobacco leaves.

Sweet and fruity, lots of floral notes, ending with a slightly smokey, fresh roasted coffee note. Grape jello and my wife's Clinique lipstick.

Medium, smooth and only a slightly sticky body, with smooth and foamy but light carbonation. Really covers the alcohol.

Amazing brew. Loving this more than any imperial stout I've had. Complex and fruity, floral notes with an amazingly smooth body. Got online, drinking in Chiang Mai, Dec 8th, 2016.

12 oz bottle with a batch stamp of #013.

Pours very dark brown but looks nearly black and opaque in the glass. Small weak head and little lacing.

Aroma: light booze, molasses, dark dried fruits and a hint of cookie dough.

Flavor: Sweet notes mix with dark dried fruits, toffee, molasses and faint booze.

Feel: Thick: low carbonation. Very smooth

Overall: a potent and BIG porter with fairly well hidden alcohol.

10/3/16...pours dark black, looks like bubbly motor oil. Brown (dark) head of foam settles out. Woodsy, dark earthy nose. Some coffee too. Smooth, thick boozy, chocolate malty flavor. Surprisingly smooth and then the power of the 11.5 hits you.

12 oz

Pours jet opaque black, dark tan head is fine and dissipates to a bit of lacing.

Smells of chocolate syrup, brown sugar, molasses, and coffee beans.

Flavor is of chocolate, molasses, fig, pecan, caramel, coffee and a hint of licorice.

Medium to full body with a thin tingle of carbonation on the tongue. Slightest hint of booze warmth.

Excellent dark beer, loads of great rich flavor. Drinks deceptively easy. A real treat and a must-try.

Black pour and a nice rich head that settles a bit. Smooth lacing when the glass is tilted.
Smells like some cherries and malts.
Taste is tangy medium-dark fruit notes, mostly cherry and plum, and some distant tropical hints, and certainly milk chocolate. Fairly tart and then a hint of roasted malts.
Feels medium-thick, rich and creamy, nice smooth finish and a slight burn.
What a terrific big porter to sip. Flavorful and not overly dry, bitter or charry like others I've had in the past.

The most interesting thing about this porter is the bourbon notes. Huge! Incredibly smooth with amazing chocolate malts. This might be the best porter ever.

Bottle into a tulip. Black body. A slow pour yielded a thin, brown head of foam that quickly receded down to a thin skirting. Nose is cocoa, butterscotch, toasted malt, baker's chocolate, sweet lactose, and light booze. The tate is very similar. Dark chocolate notes along with cocoa, lactose, and toasted malt. Damn near imperial stout territory here. Lighter, less chewy, and more milky than a big stout though. The feel is relatively dense, with little carbonation. Somewhat chewy while remaining surprisingly drinkable.

Overall, this one is a great take on an often overattempted style. Probably the best imperial porter I've ever had.

L: dark but no head formed really. And no retention. Not what I expect from a stout/porter.

S: I didn't get that much. Really just malt.

T: nice flavor. Lacking that special something though. Decent malt flavor. Not bad but not special.

F: slight carbonation but smooth. A little thin for me.

O: good beer. I kept wishing it was more though. I think I was wishing it was more like a stout.

Bold and flavourful. A dark fruit cake. Smells and taste like rhum infused raisins, dates, vinous notes but no tannin. Cocoa in the smell but not so much in the taste. Sweet and boozy, a really complex dessert beer. Banana, nuts and milk chocolate as it warms up, it gets better and better

To me, this was a disappointment. Strong, nice complexity but it is so sweet that at the end of the bottle, you just want to have some water to rinse your mouth. The Belgians know how to add just enough sweetness and Evil Twin could have used some tips on this one.
You will taste the goodness in this one, as well as a mouthful of syrup.

2104 12oz bottle poured black with little head. The aroma indicated that this would be a boozy beer. The depth and complexity of the flavor was outstanding. I would recommend holding onto a bottle for a couple of years before diving into it. A lot of the harshness has mellowed out, but it is still a sipping beer. This beer also changes as it warms to room temperature.

I'm not going to go into full review mode because plenty of others have already done that, but I just had to say that this porter leans towards the vinous something fierce; it's like a dried fruit forward, thick malty port which is something that you don't across too often in this category.

Very different and complex; raisins, figs, dates, prunes, umami, brown sugar, molasses, marzipan, with some coffee in the minutia. A lot of people pick up chocolate, I don't think it's a major player here. It's very doppelbock - sans banana - in character. Lovely.

Pours a deep dark brown to black color with a finger of tan head. The nose is only slightly roasty. This offering has a healthy, more than full body. The roasted malt is in the flavor profile but it is just not nearly as hearty as one would expect with a beer that is this heavy. Also, the alcohol pokes through a bit too obtrusively on the finish.

Hard pour gives pitch black beverage with 1.5-finger brown head, low retention.
Smell - booze, licorice, chocolate, vinous.
Taste - plum, prunes, roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, wood.
Full, viscous body, soft carbonation.
Complex and rich beer for sipping.

It does not have any expiration date on a bottle. One number I found says:

So I assume this is an issue date. 12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Black, clean color. Clear, dark brown on a glass sides. Small one finger tall, tanned and frothy head. Diminishes fast, spare lacing. Aroma of plumes, smoked prunes, charcoal. Some chocolate and cherry. Some bread and caramel at the end. Very sweet malt taste is perfectly balanced with a bitterness. Oily and full body. Sticky. Average, medium carbonation. Little bit astringency and grittiness in a finish, followed by a solid dryness. Later dominated by an alcohol that warms up a throat nicely. Long dry finish. Fantastic beer.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Pours nearly black with a nice brown foamy head and lacing. The smell is not pronounced but chocolatey and sweet. The taste is wine like with grapes, raisins, and other dark fruit along with chocolate and a hint of coffee. Very good and very interesting!

Look: Black: Subdued head.

Smell: Soy sauce, molasses

Taste: Sweet vinous (port) notes that mingle with coffee, molasses, maple syrup, and other dark fruits. Booze is prominent, but not overwhelming.

Feel: Thick: Surprisingly, somewhat peppery-spicy at the finish.

Overall: Wow; H-U-G-E syrupy sweet port-like beer, that packs a mule-kick wallop! Really a fun pour
for anyone that enjoys dark imperials.
