12oz. Slightly hazy dark gold pour, made more hazy by my uncareful pour. Wasn't expecting much sediment out of this but oh well. White ring is about it for the topper.

Aroma, quite piney, light herbal notes. Some balancing toffee like malt.

Taste, this can is a little older but the hop presence is still pretty potent. Though after a nice citrus-pine start this goes downhill. Stone fruit and some toasted malt background. Some odd vegetal and burnt/astringent bitterness dominates. I can see they were going for a big resin bomb but it comes on too strong. The least pleasant hop flavors I've experienced since a nasty can of Gubna. Maybe it is the age.

Body where it should be, carb is maybe a tick high. Drink okay but the failed hop experiment makes me wish I left this on the shelf.

A: Pours a hazy dark copper in color with hints of deep golden yellow when held up to the light, some light amount of both white and dark yeast particles in suspension near the bottom of the glass, and a very light amount of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall creamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of thick large bubbles, a thin film covering the rest of the surface of the beer, and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Upfront there is a light aroma of caramel malts followed by some strong hop aromas - grapefruit/citrus, pine/resin, and pineapple/tropical in order of intensity.

T: Like the smell, the taste of this beer upfront has a light to moderate flavor of caramel malts with some light sweetness. After that, the beer has a lot of hop flavors - grapefruit/citrus is pretty strong with lighter amounts of pine/resin and pineapple/tropical. Light amounts of bitterness which lingers for quite a while on your palate.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly chewy. Light to moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable with a nice combination of hop flavors and aromas without being overly bitter. Easy to drink and one to have again.

Appearance: A mildly hazed dark goldish orange. Head is white and drops to a tiny collar with solid spots of lacing. No head to speak of after the initial pour. Moderate carbonation.

Smell: Pale and biscuity malts. An herbal/leafy hop component with a touch of pithy citrus (grapefruit). A touch of that weird salty thing that I peg as a trademark of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Leafy and pale. Very mellow. Some underlying malt sweetness is bready. A bit doughy. Balanced.

Taste: More herbal and leafy than anything else. Some nice sweet pale malts coupled with a solid backbone of bready/biscuity flavors. A good toasted edge. Hops provide a little pithy bitterness along with some grapefruit in addition to a super herbal, vaguely floral, hit. Warming pushes some of the malts back and forces them to feel a little light overall.

Mouthfeel: Body runs on the lighter side of medium. Moderate carbonation. Nicely dry on the finish. Crisp.

Overall: Put this in a tallboy for extra cred.

This is solid. A nice drinking APA with enough character to keep it interesting. Although, if you're going to name a beer hipster, it needs the tallboy format. Instacred.

Smells a bit oxidized, bready malt, faint citric hops
Taste is nicely bitter, citric hops, balanced by the malt, but lingering bitterness
Substantial body for the style, lots of fine CO2
Not bad but probably a little too old

A: Dark orange, khaki head is creamy but flimsy and quick to dissipate. Good strong sense of carbonation and visible floaties. Lacing is modest.

S: Aroma of pine and caramel, grapefruit grind, with some underlying notes of leafy herbaceoucs scents. Grapey, viney notes with an all told fair and average offering for a pale.

T: Scotchy grapefruit and pine with some dry speciality grains. Decent level of dry hoppiness, though flavor spectrum is limited. Lemony-buttery caramel fade.

M: Good deal of malt depth, creamy, medium-full body, dry.

O: Overall not bad, slightly above average offering, dry, sweet with an alkaline finish. Decent with a high C rating feels about right. wouldnt go out of my way for.
