look: 3.75 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 2.75

The colour is pale gold (7 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger white head sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass.

The smell is quite light with cereals, unripe fruits and a hint of condensed milk.

The taste is first very bitter with some caramel sweetness, orange peel and bitter herbs. Medium body. The aftertaste got warming alcohol and harsh bitterness. The long finish is even more bitter with lime juice and sour candy flavours.

The carbonation is light with smooth small long-lived bubbles. The liquid is semi-smooth.

A very bitter and one-handed APA. Not very good.

Evil TwinBrewing "HIPSTER ALE"
12 oz. can, coded but not freshness dated

Appearance: Quiet hazy for an American Pale Ale, but that can be forgiven if it's due to dry hopping (which it probably is). Deep golden-amber body. Rocky off-white head. Very good retention and lacing.

Aroma: Floral and citrusy hops. Subtly piney and earthy. Some biscuity/caramelish malt.

Flavor: Solidly hoppy, and solidly bitter. The malt is present but takes a back-seat rather than acting as a spring-board for the hops ... ? ... ? ... ? ... ? ... ? ... something seems off-in the balance, it's a little harsh. Is it perhaps simply a little too bitter for the malt to balance it? More importantly, the hops come on pretty big at the front and then seem to scamper off going into the finish, leaving it fairly vapid.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light in body and quite crisp.

Overall: Not particularly refined or balanced, it delivers a shot of hops but fails to back it up. A one-trick pony that's probably only worth one shot.

BA missed on this one. It's a great APA. Cambridge Ma.

A - Pours a one finger beige foam on top of a hazy, amber golden body. Moderate rentention and leaves nice lace.

S - Ample! Spicy, honey, piney, fruity hop aroma with lotsa bready notes and ample onion grass earthiness.

T - Starts with sweet, bready malt up front with earthy hay and spice. Lotsa pine and grapefruit follows and the brew finishes with long grassy, citric hops and pepper.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a balanced fresh finish.

O - strong, character, piney, and hoppy for an APA. In direction of Dales. Good.

Poured into a pint glass. Pale golden color with a one finger head that recedes to leave a small ring of lacing. Aroma of bready malts and floral hops. Taste is earthy hops followed by a bready malt and orange body with a slightly bitter floral hop finish. Light body and moderate carbonation with some bitter hop aftertaste. This is just too light and a bit lager like for an APA.
Much like the cliché hipster in real life, the beer tries to be different and slightly hurts some of it's appeal. It's body makes some of the hop profile stand out and linger. A good beer, but not something I'm sure to come back to.

Tasted in a pint glass from a 12 oz can on August 7, 2015. Look is light orange, medium head and lingering lacing. Smell is floral and citrus fruit hops and lightly sweet malts. Taste is complex floral notes with grapefruit and orange citrus fruit flavors balanced nicely with mild caramel malt tastes. Feel is crisp with medium carbonation, but the finish is smooth.
