650ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Black in color maybe with some very deep brown shade, the pour quickly builds up massive silky khaki effervescence that stands with remarkable retention and won’t die down until the last sip. It leaves lots of sticky lacing here and there.

Very funky and brett together with some dank forest, musty barrel, hint of sour cherry, dark berry, mildly tart, fruity ester, phenol, earthy, pine, caramel, dark bread, dough, chocolate, coffee, as well as roasted and toasted.

Obviously brett leads through the palate sensation at the same time with musty, dusty, and funky notes. Then it is dank, woody barrel, hint of sour cherry, dark berry, mildly tart, fruity ester, phenol, earthy, pine, caramel, dark bread, dough, chocolate, coffee, roasted and toasted, and some bitterness that is mainly from roasted malt.

The body is rather light with silky smooth mouthfeel and moderate lively carbonation that generates the creamy wave of froth through the palate. The feeling is rather crisp and proper considering the intensity of brett while finish is dry.

If you enjoy bold brett, hops, and roasted malt at the same time then this is it. Lots of brett here with its full force of unique funky, musty, wild, and dust.

Almost Black with an Amber and copper tinge, topped with four fingers of beige head. No visible carbonation.

Smells of chocolate, coffee, Brett, funky barrel, cherries and Dusty, musty, cellar.

Tastes of coffee and dark chocolate, cherries, oak barrel, funky Brett, Black licorice and a charred, burnt bitterness.

The body is thick and foamy like chocolate milk.

I found this one in Chang Mai, Thailand, where I am drinking it June 12, 2017. I've had two others from this series by evil twin, and I've enjoyed all three of them! It's a really unique brew and definitely worth a try!

L: pitch black with a rocky and persistent tan colored 3" cap. Remains of the cap still float on top of the beer after 15 minutes.

S: light roast and traces of chocolate, hops and coffee.

F: chocolate mixed with some lightly sweetened mild coffee balanced by a moderate bitterness.

F: medium body and carbonation

O: very well balanced with no harsh or overly assertive flavors.

Pours dark brown (near black) with a tan froth that keeps on keepin' on. Smells of plum, roasted malts, and pine. Plum and prune juice surround hints of resin and pine with a strong malt presence lingering. Smooth and easy going, but never boring.

May not be "extreme" or bitter enough for some, but this is excellent and tasty drinking through and through.

Pour carefully, the head is thick and sticks around, almost like a root beer float in its resilience.

Smells nice and funky, with some nice robust undertones and slight hoppiness.

Taste is more dark than funky, but the carbonation really helps pull this together into a really drinkable black IPA.

22 oz bottle served in a goblet.

Opened with a pronounced pfffft but did not overflow. The pour did raise an over-sized head. Very good retention.

The aroma and flavor reveal a substantial influence of Brett, and the Brett dominates the aftertaste. I have little tolerance for Brett, so this pretty much ruined the beer for me. The base black IPA seems about average in malt/hop balance and strength, but perhaps more bitter than usual.

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 3 fingers of tan head. Great lacing & head retention

S: Pine & brett funkiness once warm

T: Pine & herbal hops, a little roastyness/smokeyness up front, slight astringency as well up front. A little brett sourness/funkiness as this warms, more pineyness & dryness. Finishes with funk, grapefruit, pine & dryness & a little green apple peel

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation

This is good as a one off, but not one I would drink on a regular basis. Lover's of funk may disagree, worth a try

Pours black with fucked up mashed potato head
Smells medical/clinical somehow. Licorice, grass clippings
Bitter bitter coffee. Coffee I wouldn't even drink. Tastes poisonous frankly. Can't even go on with this review. Hopefully the only time I give this low of a taste rating

Aroma is dark/roasted malts, hops and funk all around. The flavor is citrus, grapefruit, dark malts, very mild coffee, hops/mild hop resin and a mix of slight nuttiness and bitter in the finish.

22oz bottle Poured out a dark brown color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled roasty, funky and citrusy. Nice funky flavor with roasted malt, coffee and yeastiness.
