Picked this up a few years ago, then came across another one recently.

Its one of those golden/light orange colors that was probably yellow at first, but then the blueberries changed the color. The aroma was largely in conformity with berliner guidelines, the smack of wheat and lemon, with a smidge of berry-ness to it.

Taste is nice, right off the bat, Evil Twin actually stayed within the lines and didn't try and make a super imperial 14% berliner weisse like they often do with other styles. Good wheat pop. Mild acidity. Not too sour to make it a wild ale masquerading. Mouth feel is real good, nice and light bodied per style. Finishes dry, small impact from fruit to it. Carbonation was right where it should be.

On the downside, this is waaaay too expensive. That fits right in with Evil Twin's way of working. If it were priced anywhere near normal, I would recommend it. Good beer, bad price.

Light colored pour until the blueberries fall out, then it turns to a burnt orange color. And yes I said blueberries fell out. Nice foamy off-white head of 1/2 finger.

Aromas of cracker, blueberry tannins, some basic lactic acid and Berliner aromas - lime, stone, blueberry cereal.

Flavor is watery to start, and then some polite blueberry and limestone come in, followed by blueberry puff cereal and basic grains. White wine vinegar, lemon juice, white bread, lactic sourness, hard water.

Feel is spot on for a Berliner, plenty carbonated and a slight tannin-y dry finish.

Overall, pretty decent. I'd have it again. Nice mild blueberry notes on top of a basic layer of solid Berliner.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color with a very thin white head that fades very quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains esters, blueberries, wheat and light caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a very strong bite of sourness followed by flavors of blueberries and esters. Then some breadiness comes in from wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is very mild as you would expect and there is not much balance. The after-taste is slightly sour.

M: Crisp but not very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Not very tasty, does not go down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely better blueberry sour beers than this one.

22 oz bottle crafted at Westbrook Brewing in SC.
Pours slightly hazy, with just a suggestion of blue in the whit cap. Lots of visible carbonation for several minutes.
Aroma: some sweet caramel and blueberry mix with unattractive funk.
Flavor: moderately high tartness; lightly funky; mildly fruity with less prominent blueberry than hoped for.

Medium-light body with crisp, medium-high carbonation.

Overall: a bold, lightly funky version of the style.

Peach colored with no head.

Aromas of blueberry and peach and flavors of blueberry and peach as well, maybe being on the sour end of the spectrum alters the blueberry, but at times the unintended peach flavor seems to dominate the blueberry.

A little tangy but a very smooth, wine-like texture.

22oz bottle - maybe it's just me, but what the hell is this label talking about?

This beer pours a clear, pale salmon amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and rather fizzy off-white head, which leaves absolutely nothing in the way of lace near the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of musty dark berry fruit, a slightly sour pale graininess, edgy wheat cereal, a surprisingly tame white cheesy funk, a touch of underripe lemon zest, and some strange earthy bittering astringencies. The taste is sharp white wine vinegar, muddled and thinned out dark fruit (still not particularly blueberry-like), salted wheat bread, lemon juice, mineral water, a waning earthy funkiness, and more plainly overwhelmed or understaffed hop bitterness.

The carbonation is adequate for the job at hand, what with its generic frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and kind of thin on the ground in its attempt at any sort of smoothness. It finishes dry, still sour in an indistinctly fruity manner, and wanly grainy.

Overall, not a bad sour ale, the predominance of fruity sour over funky sour making me cotton to this one a whole lot more than I would have otherwise. However, the purported blueberry overdose totally fails to materialize at any point in this offering, so I guess that idea can sink back into the strange pop-culture, inside joke marketing dump going on here.

On tap at Salvage BBQ in Portland, Maine.

Pours hazy, fizzy, and off-red. Like pressed berries.

Smells very tart and mildly fruity: lemon and under-ripe blueberries.

Tastes very fizzy and tart and much fruitier than the aroma indicated. Blueberries dominate nicely throughout. Starts super sour, with nodes of bacteria like an Atomic Warhead candy, but then it smooths out quickly and becomes basically sweet berry juice.

Intense--definitely a sipper--but pulled off pretty well.

Very pleasant Berliner Weisse, will drink again for sure. Nose is a bit shy but pleasant and inviting with a good dose of funk. What it doesn't give you in blueberry aromatics and flavors, it gives you in a nice tart, crisp edge. It has a great mouthfeel and is well made but I don't get a lot of blueberry, which I expected. I like it a lot however and enjoy the effort.

S- Slight tartness, some berry sweetness, but I would have guessed strawberry from the nose
T- Tart up front, a bit of berries, ends a bit watery
F- Good for style. Crisp, light carb
O- Decently drinkable, but not my favorite berlinner

"OMG! It's Justin Blabaer!!! If you have "Blabaer fever," then this is the only cure. We stuffed so many blueberries into this beer--it's going to make you shout, "Oh, Baby!" This is dedicated to AVSB. A&F YFFL - EW, MW, RWM, BE, SS, RC." Brewed in the style of a Berliner Weissbier with Blueberries added. A one-off collaboration between Evil Twin and Westbrook Brewing Co, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy crisp head of a champagne-white color over a moderately hazy golden amber body with ample, lively carbonation and thin, abundant sediment. Retention is average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.5

(Smell) Unmalted wheat, considerable funk and very potent fruit acidity. Little blueberry character, although some wild, underripe berry aromas are present. Potency is moderate. 3.5

(Taste) Tart and lactic sourness up front, tangy wildberry character with a simple pale wheat malt base. Finishes very acidic, moderately dry. The sourness is a bit more intense than the average Berliner Weissbier, which I enjoy. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) The texture is chalky, smooth, clean, medium dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a mild frothiness and a medium crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, shy of medium overall. Balance is tart, funky and acidic over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.75

(Overall) Blueberry is a pretty difficult fruit to pull off when integrated in reasonable numbers, and as a whole the fruit character isn't very well integrated into this beer, but altogether this is an incredibly enjoyable and drinkable Berliner Weissbier with an enjoyable level of acidity and funk. 3.75

Appearance - I am not sure how to describe the color. Purplish-yellow?

Smell - There is a distict sour nose, though not specific to any fruit.

Taste - The initial taste is an intensely sour blueberry that quickly falls flat and dies. Toward the back, it is a little tart. The wheat is largely masked.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is low for the style.

Overall -This really did not hit the mark for a Berliner or sour. After the initial taste, the beer is a disappointment.

Pours an amber to copper color with head that diminished very quickly with no visible lacing.

Aroma is sour, vinegar, blueberries, lac to bacteria, and white wine.

Taste is sour, acidic, white wine, with blueberries on the underside. Minor sweet finish.

Mouthful is light crisp and higher end carbonation.

Overall a very nice beer with minor drawback of the blueberries somewhat muted.

Weird-as-hell hazy blue-and-orange-tinted pink grapefruit color with a finger of bright white head. Tangy aroma with a little pepperiness and hints of blueberry. A light sweetness upfront in the taste, followed by a quick sourness with citric notes, mineral water and blueberry in the aftertaste. Medium bodied for the style with good carbonation. Decent.

I had the opportunity to pick up a half growler of this after a little taste at Saveon. I could not resist. I could get used to this.

It looks wild - the berry color darkens the cloudy Berliner. The aroma hints of sweet and sour, just what is to come in the taste, an wonderful blend of tartness.

It lingers in the mouth, nasty and sour, but not overly so. The fruit cuts it just a tad. I thought the flavor would ease up with more drank, but with more warmth (it is barely cold), it gets more robustly sour.

Highly recommended.

L: Pours hazy gold with a slight purple tint under a thin wisp of a foam cap.
S: Has a tart blueberry nose, with fruit and a suspicion of tomato.
T: Tart, blueberry, lemon action drinks dry and tart.
F: Medium high champagne carbonation, light bodied.
O: A tart refreshing beer. The berries tone down the tartness somewhat and the result is much better than I expected.

Hazy pinkish hue with tons of fizzy carbonation.

Tart aroma with light blueberries. Kind of reminds me of the old blueberry new york seltzer waters.

Blueberries are light in the flavor, but it works. Lacto acidity and funky.

Light and crisp mouthfeel. Great carbonation.

A fine Berliner Weiss.

Normally, I'm not a fan of sour or fruit beers. My husband ordered this at a local gastro pub and decided he didn't like it. As someone who hates to see beer go to waste, I decided to finish it up for him. Surprisingly, I actually liked this beer quite a bit. Open the first taste, you get a bit of dry sourness but then it turns into a round, juicy flavor that I rather enjoyed. I might need to rethink sour beers now.

Appearance – Pours a cloudy dark orange pink color with a good head and light lacing.

Smell – Bitter lemon, sour funkiness but no blueberries.

Taste – A sour cidery/white wine taste; I don’t really notice any blueberry flavor.

Mouthfeel – Tart, nicely carbonated, with a mild sour aftertaste.

Drinkability – A sour cidery beer without much blueberry flavor.

Thanks to Dan/Emma for sharing this last night in what turned out to be a pretty darn good tasting. This is the third time I have had this brew.

A- Hazy bodied brew poured from the bomber to a wine glass, a bit of a pink shade to it. A white foamy crown forms on the beer but it falls fairly quickly. A ring of bubbles leaves spotty lacing.

S- Blueberries, wheat and some lactic lemony tart notes. The blueberries certainly have a fresh, authentic aroma rather than some flavoring or extract.

T- Again, for me the dominant flavor here is the blueberries; certainly deserving of some credit to get a flavor this big out of them. Wheaty and just a tiny bit tart for me in the underlying Berliner base.

MF- Definitely a shade under medium bodied and somewhat thin like a ginger ale or something. Carbonation moderate-high but it lacks much texture and finishes just a bit tart.

I commend Evil Twin for getting an authentic, fairly strong blueberry flavor into a beer but for me it seems like there is a divide between the fruit and the Berliner and they don't ever find a complete marriage.

Tooty fruity fresh and fruity! No, no. Not that fake, processed junk. This is the real deal here. Kind of like a Monet, this bad sucker is good from afar, but a bit murky up close. Smell? A little of this, a little of that, and this and huh. Not the best, but nothing offputting. Blueberry comes through beautifully like as if it were the warmest color.
