I tried this side by side with De Rank Saison from Belgium.

De Rank De Dottignies has always been the gold standard (stateside) in terms of Farmhouse Ales (Saisons), far surpassing Dupont, which to me tastes more like a rotted sour.

Plasticman is the best Saison I have tried in a bottle in the US.

If your a fan of Saison's you have to try this one. You will not be disappointed.

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip at cellar-fridge temperature. This is a collaboration between Evil Twin, Westbrook, and Local Option. I’m excited.

L – Cloudy deep gold color with a 2-finger bubbly, rocky, cream-colored head. Really nice retention and some sticky lacing.

S – Lots of sweet and tart fruity esters with orange, lemon, and green apple notes. There’s a solid backbone of bready malt and a subtle undertone of peppery yeast, as well. This is a wonderfully pleasant aroma; very “summery”.

T – Wow, this is much more complex than the aroma suggested. It starts off sweet and slightly tart with mostly orange and lemon and some green apple notes. Then, some floral and herbal earthiness comes into play with bready, grainy malt. I’m not going to pretend to know which herbs or flowers are present here, but they’re there. At first taste, I mistook the floral, herbal, earthiness for musty Brett. After subsequent gulps, it became clearer that the earthiness was not that classic barnyard funk. Peppery, spicy yeast shines at the finish.

F – Light-to-medium-bodied with pretty good carbonation, a mouth-coating and crisp mouthfeel, and a very dry and slightly spicy, bittersweet finish. Herbal and lemongrass flavors linger the longest.

O – This is a really nice saison. The aroma led me to believe that this was going to be a slightly tart, light, and refreshing beer, perfect for the start of summer. While it still was refreshing, the taste put forth much more than the aroma suggested, namely a strong herbal and floral earthiness. Even with this added complexity, the drinkability does not suffer at all. This is a great summer saison that I would try again.

22oz bomber picked up at the Northbridge Pig. Poured into a snifter...

A: Golden, with an orange hue; two fingers of fizzy, white head manages decent retention, leaving few strands of lace.

S: White grape; pear; sugary malt; light phenols.

T: White bread crust malt; white grape; pepper; a bit tart on the end; rustic quality on the finish.

M: Medium-bodied; high carbonation... pretty lively.

O: A nice brew; not much "farmhouse" character, though... more of a blend of Belgian pale / blonde / saison; refreshing, though!

On-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is very hazy pale yellow in color. It poured with a finger high white head that died down and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of peppery spices are present in the nose along with some hints of lemon citrus.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, but is a littler more fruity with flavors of sour apples and lemons; these are rounded out by peppery spices towards the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This saison was quite drinkable and the mélange of different flavors made it rather interesting.

A cloudy orange in color with 3 fingers of foamy white head, slow dissipation and nice amount of lacing. Aroma of lemons, orange, candy, very fruity! The flavor profile is sweet and subtle fruit notes (strawberry) with a very yummy bready character.
Medium in body with high carbonation gives it a very light feel.
This is a very enjoyable saison and honestly perfect for a night like tonight where it's been in the 50's and its 70 outside!

At When Pigs Fly. In a snifter the beer was a hazy orange color with a thin white head. There was a lot of lace.

Aroma of citrus and apple.

The taste delivered more than the aroma suggested. Tangerine, orange, lemon. More of an apple taste late.

This was a crisp and refreshing beer. I liked it.
