Best before 10.06.

A: Ruby-brown-black, off-white head, initially a little lace, but no retention. Perhaps due to the age of the bottle? (I think it may have been brewed in September).

S: MALT BOMB! Dark fruit (prune & raisin), dark bread, molases, a little chocolate and a hint of spice. It's kind of like Christmas cake that's been soaked in sherry.

T: Prune, raisin, molases, dark bread and a little hop spice (like tettnanger). Bittersweet like a fine, dark chocolate. Slight hint of licorous. Tons of malty flavour left in the aftertaste. Alcohol becomes quite assertive as it warms.

M: Moderate to full body is a little syrupy. Carbonation is light to moderate.

D: Quite good.

I was impressed with this bottle!

From the bottle, it pours a ruby amber with a moderate, somewhat fluffy, light tan head. Bit o lace as you enjoy it. Sweetish scent. Malty flavor with a bit of roast, easy to drink and enjoyable. Dangerous!

Thank you to the man, myth and legend, my lewistown counterpart, Joe Rodes for this great brew. Another score for me and the german brew. Interesting, becuase this seems more of a marzen, or a hearty wiezen then an out an out dooplebock. More so on the marzen.
It pours a ruch deep, rudy, ruby marred with muddy brown color. Has a solid, boney, phrothy white head. Nose is full of rudy floral sweetness
The taste is an intersting mix of light hoppy hints of goodness mixed with a solid malt charecter that folows all the way down. While the malt is the dominat flavor, the hops will always find a a way to sneek in. Quite delightful.
A sweet, hearty, solid brew, drank preferably in the fall, but, enjoyable year round. It's sweetness gives it a year round quality rarely found

All in all, a good brew if you can get friends to smuggle it.

Dark brown hue, ruby edges. Abundant light beige foam, creamy.
Malt, caramel, toasted notes in the smell. Classic and pleasant.
Quite surprising taste, with strong and pleasant licorice notes. All on a malty base, and with a good background herbal hop. Some caramel and burnt.
Again licorice in the aftertaste, along with a good herbal hop.
Full bodied, alcohol well hidden.
Good surprise, and very pleasant.
