50 cL tall boy can poured into a taster’s snifter in Toulouse, France.
Brilliant tall foam over a reddish amber coloured brew. Head fell pretty quick, revealing an aroma of unfamiliar hops. It’s an IPA for sure, given the piney scent.
One if the joys of beer tasting in France (as opposed to the US) is not getting the usual set of flavors. So this IPA is distinct with its hop notes, countered by sweet adjunct to boost the ABV. The contrast worked for the first couple of swigs, then it fell apart as it warmed. The brilliance of the hops get dusted by a tinniness and syrupy taste.
It’s medium to full in the mouth, and there’s medium carbonation.
Overall, attractive can! Wish the beer held up better in the second half because it is interesting.

Found this at Lidl here in Portugal and it surprised me. The color was a bright orange and it had a nice head and aroma to it. It had plenty of citrus and hops to it. I also detected some hint of spice. It said 7.8% but it didn’t come on that strong - which is a good thing. It was very drinkable and pretty reasonable for the price. 1 euro for a tall boy (0.5L) can. I’d drink it again.

Look: Amber, clear, with frothy head.
Smell: malt and caramel
Taste: hoppy citrus flavours, reminds me of Corsican chestnut beers, but overwhelmed by cloying sweetness
Feel: like a cross between a fine ipa and an energy drink.
Overall: Enjoyable at the price, if very cold, but a little too sweet for my taste.

500 ml can, from Lidl Hjørring. ABV is 7.8%. Slightly hazy deep golden to orange colour, large white head. Fairly nice aroma of fruity hops, notes of oranges and pine. Medium sweet flavour with some hop bitterness, also some citrus and caramel, but not much complexity. Still better than I feared.

Not sure where it is brewed...probably Romania.

Very red. Scarily red.

Really horrible aroma of nothing. I assume therefore that this is a Romanian beer for sure.

It's a really perfect refreshing IPA. Perfect mouth feel. Taste is about 30% of what they have on the west coast, but it is still pretty amazing.

I never expected to find this at Lidl

Privatbrauerei Eichbaum “Steam Brew Imperial IPA”
,5L can coded “MHD 11/08/2022 L223 1505 3”. Sampled on 29.09.2021
€,79 @ Lidl, Benrather Str. 7b, Düsseldorf, DE

This beer has a starting gravity of 16.8˚ Plato, and an ABV of 7.8%. It has 45 IBUs, and is brewed with Yellow Sub and Mosaic hops. It’s a slightly hazy amber-orange in color beneath a full head of white foam. The aroma is bright and fresh with hop resins, citrus (mainly orange), and berries. The flavor follows. It’s sweetish and malty with notes of orange, apricot, and plenty of berries. At just 45 IBUs the bitterness is firm against the malt, balancing it enough. It fnishes bittersweet and lingering with plenty of residual hoppy fruitiness. The alcohol never shows. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and crisp. Given the price this is a great beer, but more importantly it’s a quality American IPA done by a German brewer and it’s nice to see that they’re finally gotten the hang of it.

Review: 0,5l can of Steam Brew Imperial IPA: 7.8% vol.

Love the Steam Brew cans, full of character and with a story behind each one. I'm fucked if I know the exact storyline, probably some bollix, but it looks well good. A logo of what looks like a mechanic/steam man surrounded by all sorts of gadgets, wheels and rusty instruments, pretty eye catching and cool. On the can it says “lets oil the gears of life”, yes sure why not, for this beer that was hopped three times......

On pour get a lot of carbonation, mad alive, resulting in a big creamy white head and an amber coloured beer. When it all settles down, the result is a fantastic looking beer. Great head on it, and it looks very delicious, very inviting. Lovely on the eye.

Good amount of lacing left behind on glass.

The aroma is strong, getting a lot of rich tropical fruits on the nose. It has the typical IPA smell one would expect, and it hits you straight off the bat. Nice and powerful on the nose. Get the citrus and fruits, the hops, caramel and malts.

Onto the taste, getting a very hoppy and bitter brew, very deep tasting but its not bad at all, very manageable. Get the fruits, the citrus and the hops.

The hops are very prominent in this beer. The heavy flavours certainly matched the sombre mood I was in, listening to some old rock music of the 90s, The Offspring, and this beer matched that good mood perfectly, kind of just worked. The 7.8% was very well hidden too, didn't feel like I was drinking a strong brew as it was very sessionable.

The taste is alive, the hops are to the fore (Yellow Sub and Mosaic), kicking it and I love it. Lovely tasting beer, well balanced with so much character, fantastic. The fruits, the malts and the hops all well balanced to produce a very decent beer that went down very well, tasting all good yet doing well to hide the alcohol but still having that bitter bite to it.

Loved it, very solid brew, strongly recommended.....

Look: golden, with a nice thick white head

Smell: nice pine note, with some citrus too

Taste: follows the nose, solid west coast ipa. Not as good as the best out of Cali but much better than most of the reviews here say

Feel: nice bubbles
