Sometimes things go together so well, one wonders what life was like before it - like peanut butter and jelly, hippies and patchouli. With that in mind, we at the 3HB lab have created the Bromigo, bringing together smoked malts and maple syrup, amber ale and spicy hops, bold flavor and a sweet finish. It just goes together like Bro and Amigo. Enjoy friend!

16 oz. can dated 11/2/2020
Reddish clear copper with scant tan head, but a complete cap and decent lacing survive.
There is a strong maple aroma, with light smoke, light caramel, grape note.
Some hop bitterness shows up in the flavors, with decent maple, nutty malt and light smoke well incorporated.
Medium body, no alcohol heat, not that sweet. If not for the ABV I could drink several of these in a session. I would call the amber-smoked-maple experiment a success.
No off flavors or unpleasant notes in my cans.

Poured into a smaller chalice: appears amber, murky, dense looking; head is off white with a 1/4 inch deep head that dissipates to nothing with no lacing.
Smell is moderate caramel malt, some toast, light smokiness and earthiness. No maple.
Taste is a little neutral for a beer leading with fairly potentially prominent flavors: minor malt character, hints of caramel/toast, light smokiness with maybe oak qualities. No maple syrup notes.
Mouthfeel is a little astringent, harsh, sharp on the tongue. Moderate carbonation.
Overall a beer that needs to grab hold of a specific flavor or quality, malts are subdued and smokiness is light with no maple character.

Pours a nice Amber with a slight off white head that quickly dissipates.
Smells of maple, spicy/earthy hops, and roasted malt.
Taste is spicy hop up front with earthy undertones. It has a rich malt middle with caramel and maple coming through. Finishes dry with a nice nutty flavor.
