Picked up at El Depósito last week. Pours very milky yellow-orange with a weak whitish head. No lacing, but the haze is good enough to earn above average marks. The nose is strong and clearly indicates the weizen nature: herbal Perle hops backed by a solid weissbier yeast strain.

This is solid on the palate with only minor flaws. Citric lemon notes and a strong herbal hop provide a bitter backdrop for the faint sweetness of esters and bubblegum. Finishes citric but in the middle it is all ester. Almost a little too far with the bubblegum note, but they're not afraid to try. A little light, but decent body, middle of the pack in terms of overall package - which is solid praise for a microbrew out of México.

Pours a cloudy maize color. 3/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, pale malt, hint of alcohol, fruit, hint of bacterial funk, and a hint of hop. Does not seem to fit the style of a Weizenbock. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of strong earthiness, slight sweet malt, slight alcohol, slight wheat, past ripe fruit, and a hint of hop. Overall, good appearance and aroma, but the blend and body are much worse and the beer is too carbonated.

A: well done, looking is as a hefeweizen should be with some little details, pale yellow color with a little orange touch, head is not as big as could but it is present in the color and with the texture expected - withe and small bubbles, carbonation is medium.

S: Spicy herbal beer, I can sense something like mint or anise also the flavor includes some citrus and the base is as should wheat.

T: Flavor is good, wheat is the main ingredient but also citrus maybe some orange but certainty some herbs, its flavor is definitely. spicy

M: alcohol can be felt as it is a little high, even that it is not complicated for drinking, not sweet not bitter very balanced and the ending is not bad.

Beer made to celebrate the spring equinox.
It poured virtually just foam at first that insisted to stay forever with a volcano effect in the bottle as well. This Weizenbock is not the usual dark version, it has a hazy amber orange color.
Relatively mild aroma with notes of white bread, flowers, oranges and yeast.
Flavor with notes of overripe oranges, bread, a bit of white pepper and ginger, very distant bubblegum, chalk yeast, something herbal that should be the Hoja Santa and lime. Medium dry aftertaste with a bitterness that feels lower than its 21 IBUs.
Bordering medium body with slightly effervescent carbonation. Alcohol of 7.5% is well disguised.
I was expecting more complexity and depth of flavors usually seem in the darker versions. This also felt a bit tired, although it is over 4 months to expiration.
The Hoja Santa is as mild as you can feel in a Mexican tamale.
