I had no idea this place existed until Beerwolf77 and I met there for a 10 Years concert last weekend. It's a great little venue!

We entered through the store side and browsed the beer selection which was predominantly Wisconsin craft, and of that, heavily New Glarus. I couldn't believe the amount of cases of Apple Ale were there! It lined an entire shelf!

In the fridges were Leinies, Tyranena, Bell's, Sprecher, Hinterland, New Belgium, and others. Decent selection. I really like that there is a store, featuring meat and cheese also, attached to this place.

The atmosphere of the bar was more-or-less average. It's a sports bar-type feel with tons of crap hanging on the walls everywhere, most notably, a bear with a Bears jersey painted on hanging from the ceiling by a noose. The reason I really like the atmosphere is for it's stage. Fantastic sound for the place and you can pretty much see from anywhere in the place. A great concert experience. On to the beer:

Taps were strung through the massive bar opposite the stage in the main area. There were a few local favorites like Tyranena, New Glarus, and Sprecher, but overall it was national craft. Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, some imports like Stella, etc.

Bottles were positioned above a corner of the bar and we didn't even see them until ordering our second round. ($4 for a Boston Lager first, $5 for a Winter Lager second. -I'll come back to this). The only surprising thing was the bottle of Duvel up there which Beerwolf joked was probably the only bottle in the place.

The prices for the beer were fair for a concert and the Boston Lager was as good as ever, but my Winter Lager tasted like ass, just like the bottle I had recently. Probably not the venue's fault so I'll leave quality good (which I'm not applying to food - see below).

The first brush with service I had was with the bartender who poured my Boston Lager. She gave me the cup and I handed her my card. She said there was a whopping $50 limit and suggested I use the ATM. She let me walk away with the beer on the honor system (which I went back and paid for).

Otherwise we found ourselves standing around for our second beer for a while and it didn't seem overly busy at the bar at all.

The reason this place seemed a bit pricey to me was the fact that there was a $50 limit on cards and I ordered a Brat, as they called, "the world's best brat" for $6. As I expected, it was a brat on a bun. What I didn't expect was that I could have grilled a better brat that was soaked in piss with my eyes closed. How can they even justify calling it World's best? Ugh. Average food AT BEST. I also waited for quite some time for it.

Next time I stop at the Brat Stop, it definitely won't be for a brat.

My suggestion? This is a fantastic place close to the border for Illinois folk (I'll spare the insulting acronym) to pick up their New Glarus fix!

The Brat Stop is always a must stop for me before I cross the border and head home to Chicago. You can pretty much count on it that their store will have every New Glarus available, among many Wisconsin craft beers. In the past couple of years they added a lot of craft to their taps. Also, NEW GLARUS added a bank of 8 taps that is exclusively their beer. They had New Glarus Serendipity and IIPA on draft! And don’t forget the crazy good sausage. Be warned. They sound a siren whenever whatever sports team that’s on TV scores. It’ll startle you pretty good if you aren’t aware it’s there. Stop here for an awesome, charming, purely Wisconsin experience. It's not really a tourist just kind

the market on the other side of the bar was good, beer salami!, also new glarus beer heaven, i got 6 different bottles for $9.80! awesome!!

they had some beer from ale asylm but i was out of $$dollars$$

i ate the brat burger, coffee and spinach dip, my little girl lost two loose teeth eatting the french fries

I have been here once or twice before.

The atmosphere is tourist trap/sports bar/concert hall. It is certainly not a beer destination. Most of what they sell here is BMC with maybe a spotted cow and a point beer on tap.

The food is pretty standard, i have been to both the Brat stop and the banquet hall attached, nothing special. The service is nothing special

There is a shop that has a few Wisconsin brews but it is a joke compared to Woodman's which is right down the road, minutes away.

I wouldn't recommended going here.

Roadside kitsch at its finest. Reminded me of the old Mars Cheese Castle with a bigger bar in it. I even got blocked in by a tourbus of seniors while in here.

The store had 25(!!) cases of Apple Ale stacked high for us FIBs and other tourists, also 3 Bells, 2 Tyranena, and Sprecher Black Bavarian. Other than that the rest was junk, there's more beer at the grocery store down the street. Cheese and sausage galore, mostly overpriced. Racks of postcards and sweatshirts for grandma. Staff was indifferent in the shop, don't expect any beer assistance.

The bar was typical, wood and mirrors everywhere, oddly shaped, with a few taps here and there. The overall selection was extremely average, Sprecher Amber, Spotted Cow, Fat Squirrel, Tyranena Bitter Woman, and not much besides that. 2/3 macros.

Service was great at the bar, the sweet bartender brought in xmas cookies for her regulars. Attentive and quick to serve patrons. Beers served in steins, schooners (giant chalices), and pitchers. Food was overpriced though, $6 for a plain old brat you'd get at a picnic. Cheap average beer.

Head less than a mile down the street to Uncle Mikes for a vastly better beer bar, and Woodmans, Tenutas, or Timers for better beer shopping around the Kenosha/Racine area. Skip this tourist trap...

Spent an evening here with BeerFMAndy for the 10 years concert.

The shop/store front area is a nice cheese and meat deli with a decent beer selection. Plenty of Wisconsin stuff. Huge selection of NG. Typical midwest stock along with some decent imports. Most if not all of it kept cold.

Quality seemed reasonable. They had plenty of fall seasonals as well as some winter stuff. So you know they rotate their stock.

In the bar area the selection was robust yet cluttered with mundane stuff. A few gems in the bunch. Tyranena, NG, Sprecher seasonals. Service was a bit slow for my taste.

The place itself is a great concert venue. So the fact that you can drink craft taps while rocking your ass off is a huge plus in my book.

Prices for beer seemed reasonable. The Brat Andy purchased was a bit overpriced but I really can't comment on it since I didn't get any food.

Overall I have found a great place to see a show and drink some good beer.
