12 oz twist-off bottle poured into a Big Bay stange.
5.7% ABV

A - Clear copper amber colored, Üfer Bier springs to life with a tall egg-shell head that slowly collapses draping the glass in some chunky lace.

S - Surprisingly skunky at first, it smells more like an intentional "Heineken skunk" than "light struck" but that quickly subsides to allow dense bready Munich maltiness and notes of toasted wheat bread crust.

T - Sweet and skunk-free, the flavor is rich with Munich bready qualities, slightly offset by a touch of floral hops and a mineral finish.

M - Üfer Bier is smooth and medium-bodied with a creamy-ish feel that plays well into the malt sweetness. Dry on the finish, light mineral water lingers for malt balance.

O - Big Bay's Üfer Bier Oktoberfest might be a little one-dimensional in the way of bready malt, but the flavor and drinkability are there with a nice dry finish for an easy fall thirst-quencher.

Great beer that's right on point for the style. Nice malty backbone, with just a hint of hops in the aroma.

The color is great, and the beer finished just a bit dry...like it should.

The ivory head dissipates quickly, but overall, this is a great beer. Hopefully, it comes back again next year. Get it while you can. It's a one-off.

Served in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.

I couldn't find any translation of the name online, but it certainly sounds onomatopoeic, doesn't it? Regardless, this stuff pours a clear sunrise auburn topped by a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises toasted wheat, light toffee, and a slight twang of orange peel. The taste brings in more of the same, though now the orange peel (which is itself stronger here) shares the toast with the wheat. Suffice it to say, it doesn't sit right on my tongue. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dryingly fluid feel. Overall, an okay O-Fest at best, but that weird toastiness just made things too strange and off-putting for my tastes.

This pours a clear, dark amber color with a slight head. The aroma is slightly malty with some spices. The taste is dry and malty that finish is a little chalky. There is a bit of spice but it’s not quite as strong as I would expect from an Oktoberfest style brew. This is ok at best and could definitely use some work.
