Extremely good service and great selection. Very nice selection from local to US to international. Prices are competitive. Growler station that also serves pints. The gent onsite will walk you through everything in the store, location wise, type/style, and their recommendations - very knowledgeable and very friendly. Would recommend stopping in.

Excellent selection (they actually had Maine Beer Co on tap x2!). Growler station. Devin is very knowledgeable and helpful. It is a small space downtown full of beers with only 3 or 4 tables so the "vibe" rating doesn't really seem applicable, though it was laid back and cool. I'll go back for sure.

Online order, so vibe doesn't really apply.
From photos, you can see the densely packed dark wood shelves hold lots of variety, with clearly marked prices.
In one corner is a growler fill tap station with 16 draft beers listed on a chalkboard above.

Selection was good, and they update their inventory online. SC locals from Birds Fly South, Freehouse, Revelry, Carolina Bauernhaus, and more. Deep import selection with many obscure labels, including a couple dozen Belgian lambics.

I had emailed them about a few local things and they got back to me right away, but a week passed before confirming the order. It took 5 business days from payment to receive the box. Not the fastest turnaround, but it was well packed in a sturdy styro shipper. All in all I was satisfied with the experience, and would order again, and hopefully will stop in someday.

If you're not familiar with the area, this place could be difficult to find. Really small shop, big selection. Their selection was excellent, but nothing different than what I could find in Simpsonville. Prices seemed fair. They do growler fills and the tap list was great. If you're in the area, it's worth the stop.

This place can be a pain in the arse to find, but well worth the effort. Parking is best in one of the nearby garages - I lucked out and parked in front, but could stay only 15 minutes. Service is first-rate - the fellow pointed me straight to some excellent South Carolina brews, and managed to get me out in time. He even came after me when I left my oh-so-important beers tried list hardcopy behind - extra point there! Prices appear to be reasonable. I hope that next time I visit Greenville I can spend more time in this great beer boutique.

Cool little place downtown, good selection of uncommon local stuff, growler fills, Thursday tasting...the staff can be a little condescending, but that's to be expected when you're not a regular customer

Best craft beer store in Greenville. Devin and Andrew are both super knowledgable and helpful and will help everyone find the perfect beer for their tastes. Also has the best selection of foreign beers in the whole state. I've been to other beer stores in other states and when they hear that I am from Greenville they don't even bother showing me the foreign section because it's not as good as GBX. Worth going out of your way to find.

Great selection of domestics and imports. Lots of "famous names" I haven't seen in other places. Staff was helpful, if not eager. Good glassware to choose from, and beer was fresh, too.

While small, GBE has an amazing inventory, which they also keep updated online. I've been there 3 times, and each time was a great experience. The staff is always helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Just give them your list and they'll fix you right up.

Went today on the way home from Phish tour. Got two cases of Westbrook Gose.
They had an amazing selection and also have a growler fill station. Tilquin PLUM! on the shelf. No food. Guy carried the beer out to the street for me after I purchased and went to pull the car around. Will definitely go back to play a round of disc golf in town and eat some food and spend even more $$$. Great neighbourhood. A must go. Parking is not so great but who cares it's worth it.

I started to buy good craft beer here when they first opened and for a few years after that...but the obnoxious frat boy service from really uninformed idiots finally drove me away to Community Tap as my primary craft beer provider, despite the fact that they don't have the same volume of selection. After refusing to fill growlers I've had filled at dozens of different locations prior and their ineptness of the beers they were selling we're enough to make me go elsewhere, but after being forced to listen to the then manager of the store ramble on about how his taste's were world class and mine were less than average, while waiting to check me out, I respectfully told him I didn't think I'd ever visit his store again...he blew up at me and went on a more than unprofessional tie raid as I walked out on him. Never stepped back in and never will. Most folks in town only put up with these morons and this place because its so close to Barley's.

Talk about surprising - the best beer store I've ever visited is located in downtown Greenville. I'm originally from California where I grew accustomed to pretty great beer stores, having recently moved to the area I was definitely not expecting to have access to the same kinds of beer and beer knowledge.

Zack was extremely helpful in locating some interesting new beers to try, and his suggestions did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and check it out, and be sure to chat with the employees and ask for suggestions, they are very knowledgable and happy to help.

Also, free beer tastings on Thursdays.

Found this little gem when I was looking for craft beer to get when I was planning to visit my sister in Spartanburg. Zach was very pleasant and extremely helpful. He has a lot of knowledge stored in that noggin of his. We had great conversation on regional beers and after he found out I was from Ohio and that the reason we were in Greenville was just to shop in the store he made a few local suggestions for lunch and told me about a nearby facility I would for sure want to visit (Ten Fidy anyone?)

Overall an amazing experience and this will now be a traditional stop everytime I come to visit my sister.

Online ordering is outstanding, pricing is very reasonable and shipping is prompt!! Zach and Cameron are superb beer salesmen. Both have one helluva lot of beer knowledge and are willing to share this info anytime I call. Keep up the good work and keep the brews flowing!!

I stopped at the Greenville Beer Exchange on a road trip from Atlanta to Charlotte this afternoon. The selection was outstanding and the guy working while I was there was very helpful and informative. I was looking for local SC brews and was able to pick up several. Unfortunately, they had a run on their Westbrook beers over the weekend and weren't expecting a delivery until the following day, so I wasn't able to get much of any of their offerings. If I hadn't bought so much beer lately, I probably would have done a lot more damage while there. This will be a must-stop anytime I'm in town.

My family and I were driving home from the beach back to VA when I happened to find this place on the googlenets on my phone. I can honestly say this is the best bottle shop I have ever seen or heard of. Being able to purchase ANY can or bottle as a single whether on the shelf or cooler might be one of the best features. It was also cool seeing a magnum of Arrogant Bastard on the floor with its own little lock and key and 3 other giant bottles as well. I love that they have a growler filling station, I just wish I had one with me while traveling.

It was July 4th and the city was shutting the streets down for fireworks so parking was hard to find but luckily my wife volunteered to drive around the block til I was done. I can't really complain about parking, there's street parking and a garage across the street. Greenville appears to be a beautiful city and the area of the store's location seems to be very nice.

The staff (just 1 guy at the register that day) was cool and helpful. He answered the questions that I had and was very pleasant to talk to. He pointed me towards some of the local beers which have been fantastic. My only regret is not buying some glasses (or more beer, I only spent 30 bucks on 2 sixers, should have gotten a case of random stuff).

Great place with reasonable prices on everything.

Fantastic store... my wife shop there a good bit due to the selection, convenient location (close to our favorite restaurants) and great staff.

The Greenville Beer Exchange has a great selection from Belgian to local brews. They always have several great beers on tap for growlers, etc... never disappointed.

I strongly recommend a visit.

I want to love this place I really do. The employees ruin it for me though. I have only been there a few times but I am rarely if ever greeted and most of the time no one says s word until I leave. I was actually followed around the store the first time I went. The selection is great and they have hard to get beers. I really love this place except for the employees. I have only purchased beer thee once because of the poor service and the fact that it seems like it's an inconvenience that I came in. As much as I hate to I usually leave there send go to Green's or Total Wine.

BA guided me to this place recently. It's easy to repeat the high reviews from other posters.
This place is a must stop if even just passing through the area.
Clean, great selection of bottles and tap handles for growler fills and most off the staff was very knowledgeable of their entire product. I even made a FFF trade for Mexican Cake from the personal stash. Score!
Downtown Greenville is a nice place to visit and there is plenty to see and do very close bye.

This is the place. The service is top flight and the selection cannot be beat. Weekly tastings are accompanied by education on styles and brewery history. Some tastings are even done with local food shops to demonstrate proper pairings. The shop is also dog friendly. Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, it’s easy to find. It’s also next door to Greenville’s best beer bar. You really need to stop in and visit if you’re in town.

The Beer Exchange is something of a hole in the wall--a block off Main Street in a very nondescript building behind an unassuming storefront. The store is small, clean, and very well organized. I could find no intentionally pedestrian beers in stock. The selection is a well-curated selection of U.S. and European beers, with a very strong representation of Belgian and UK beers. (They have some very hard-to-find Brew Dog beers.) The back of the store includes a taproom of about twelve lines and the availability to fill your growler. The store staff is professional and friendly. Prices are quite reasonable, comparable to the most affordable sources in my local beer sources (Washington DC area). I cannot recommend this store highly enough.

I have only done mail order with these guys, but they were absolutely awesome with great selection, easy to work with and just super nice guys. Great selection, esp. when it comes to some harder to find Southern beers and South Carolina beers. Cannot say enough good things ...

This is what a every beer store should aspire to be. The organization and attention to detail made for a great experience. Every beer on the shelves were pulled to the front and the labels were facing outward. The beers were grouped by domestic/import and by brewery, making it easy to pinpoint certain beers.
The store was extremely clean and they offered some excellent glassware, which I love to see. It is a little on the smaller side, but the quality is awesome. I drove from Charlotte to check them out, solely based on the fact that they list their inventory online. This is an extraordinary feature/service that every serious beer store should provide. This was the only reason I went there to begin with, I knew they had beer I couldn't get.
Oh yeah, they also have 16 awesome taps. Being able to get a growler fill is also a great reason to make the jaunt, they are outlawed in NC.

What a gem! I was stuck in Greenville for an afternoon and relied on BA to steer me right. I was not disappointed! The selection was as good as any shop I've had the pleasure to visit. The guy running the shop was extremely knowledgeable and, even though he was really busy, took the time to answer all of my questions. He even took the time to walk me around the corner and recomend an awesome beer. I've been to most of the great beer stores in the Eastern US and this one rivals any of them. If you're anywhere even close to Greenville, make sure you make it by here!
