Notes: This American Blonde Ale is brewed with pilsner and wheat malt for a light and refreshing year-round brew. Its soft malt character is complimented by the addition of American Noble hops to provide a smooth balanced flavor without aggressive bitterness.

Canned July 6th? ?

Straw yellow with a decent head of foam. Smell is atrocious. Like garbage sitting around for a while. Must be the noble hops and wheat at the weakest state of its existence.

Not going to rate as it is since that wouldn't be fair to the brewer. 3s all around.

It looks the part. Not as hazy as a hefe, but it's clearly got a cloud-like look. Moderate golden yellow color, though slightly darker because of the clouds. The head is as huge as you want it to be and retains forever. Only after minutes does it fall leaving a chunky lace.

The flavors die quickly, but if you take a sniff early, you can pick up the tang of the wheat and some citrus notes.

The taste leaves a bit to be desired because it doesn't taste at all like a hefe, or even a wheat beer for that matter. The pilsner malts confused me and gave it a convoluted taste. The addition of Noble hops didn't help the equation. It's supposed to be complex, but I just found it confusing.

They really missed it here. A wheat or hefe is supposed to be tangy and spicy, and this is just savory and grainy. Ultimately, it doesn't feel 'bad' per se, it just misses the boat for the style.

Confusion in a bottle. Doesn't taste like a blonde, doesn't taste like a hefe, doesn't taste like a wheat beer. So what the hell is it?

One of the launch beers at the new Flat 12 brewery in Indianapolis.

Described as a hybrid pilsner/wheat ale. It's a bit different than your typical American wheat ale. The pilsner makes it a bit cleaner and crisp flavored, while it is also more strongly hopped than average. I found the flavor to be too bitter for what I expected in the style and a bit harsh at first. I must say it grew on me over time, though. Still a bit unbalanced, I think, but not bad.

Overall, a drinkable beer that would probably seem even better in the warm summer months.

Pours a pale gold, with a nice white head. Thin but pleasant lace.

Nose is sweet, with hints of honey and spice. Unusual, and not expected from a "blonde ale".

Flavor is light, with a fruity twang to it. I get some apricot notes, as well as some kind of funk in the fruitiness (which I'm not sure is supposed to be there, but isn't bad). There is a touch of hops toward the finish.

Overall, an enjoyable session ale that I would try again, definitely.

12 oz.

Pours a slightly hazy light lemon gold. One inch of sudsy white head dissipates slowly.

Smells of light barley malt and light citrus with a slight dry bitter hop element.

Light citrus sweetness over a light fresh grassy malt with a slight dry hop with minimal bitterness.

Medium body with fluffy carbonation throughout.

I think this one is a bit underrated. It's very drinkable and sessionable and it has a surprisingly good appearance and body. The aroma and flavor are balanced and inoffensive. It's not some sort of groundbreaking ale but it's not trying to be. It's quite good for what it is.

A- Very golden crystal color. White head mostly bubbly soap, no lacing....

S- Smells like sweet malts and adjuncts. Some honey smell.

T- Tastes very similar to the smell .Not really any hops there, an overpowering honey and corn flavor to me.

M-It's smooth I'll give it that.

O-Bleh, won't drink this again

It came to me a very light gold, with hardly any white head. There was hardly any nose at all, a little wheat maybe. The taste was also lacking, a little grain, a little wheat, that's about it. Mouthfeel was thin and drinkability, for me, was low. Some of their other beers are good, but not this one.
