Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Peg's snifter glass.

A: Up front - not quite a gusher, but opens with an awfully big "pfft". Then it pours out as an entire glassful of tan foam...this can't possibly be a good sign. It finally settles into a dark, nearly opaque brown...but it settles ver, very slowly.

S: I don't get any aromas suggesting infection, which at this point (given the pour) is surprising. Rather, there's chocolate and lactose and some coffee. But not a huge nose.

T: Coffee - burnt and dark roasted. A touch of milk sweetness, and some remnants of cacao nibs. Deeply roasted malt body, and some residual roasty bitterness in the hang. It ends up finishing pretty dry.

M: A rather thin body with low alcohol presence. Some tingly, active, biting carbonation sensation.

O: Not a very good milk stout, but aside from a touch of biting acerbic quality that I think largely derives from the carbonation, it's not terrible. At least it didn't end up being infected. Still not particularly good.

Dark brown with minimal off-white head. Nice, roasty, milky smell. Good taste--primarily roasty malts, but a little sweet creaminess as well. Charred taste lingers. Mouthfeel is average--could stand to be thicker. Overall, a very solid stout.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter

A- Very deep brown. Light brown head retains at a 1/4 inch. A bit of lacing lines the glass.

S- Coffee roast. A little bit of chocolate, brown sugar.

T- Chocolate and coffee. Bittersweet roast.

M- Full, but lacking that creaminess that comes with milk stouts. Bittersweet feel lingers, with emphasis on the bitterness.

O- The feel was a little off. Not creamy enough, and a bit too bitter. The roasty sweetness was really nice, though.

L: Pours an awesome amount of frothy goodness, almost too much, it's a good idea to be near a sink due to glass overfill. Black as night in the glass.
S: Rather unremarkable, you can smell the sweetness
T: Might be the sweetest beer I've tasted.
F: After the initial froth, there doesn't seem to be much carbonation left.
O: A solid milk stout, looking for sweetness, this is it. I wish there were more residual carbonation after pour. I took a swig out of the bottle-WAY overcarbonated, maybe it was just my bottle.

A- Pours just like I would expect. Complete and impenetrable black. A full finger of the creamiest looking head every. Lacing is thick and complete on the glass. The finger of head doesn't dissipate- just stays like a cloud, impressively.

S- Pretty weak aroma. A little mineralness, maybe bread.

T- Meaty, roasty, some nuttiness. It's much more towards the imperial stout end of the spectrum than the milk stout- i don't really get much sweet flavors or chocolate.

M- Ok. The roasty flavors do stick around in the back of the mouth.

O- Beautiful looking beer. Not my favorite tasting- it's not bad, but nothing that pops out.

I have had better milk stouts. This is not that great. A very bitter taste. I didn't really taste any flavor at all. There is just a bitter aftertaste.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip

A. Very dark brown almost black. Impenetrable by light. Nice foamy 2 finger head. Very little lacing.

S. Roasted malts fill the nose with a milk chocolate aroma almost like chocolate milk.

T. Roasted malts, hazelnut, hop resin and bakers chocolate fill the palate. Slight bitterness. Flavor really cones on after about 3 seconds. Kinda weird. But once it kicks in its nice.

M. Little light for a stout. Also a bit much carbonation for a stout. I don't dislike it. But it is different. Finishes slightly dry.

O. A different milk stout. But still enjoyable. I would pick a couple up in a mix and match six pack. But I wouldn't go out of my way.
