Big thanks goes out to aasher for sharing this one during the One Year Anniversary of My Wreck Tasting! Served from growler into a Crooked Stave ‘Crooked Line’ tulip. Poured fluorescent orange with a minimal off-white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, apricot, and wheat. The flavor was of sweet malt, apricot, fruit, fruit hop, and tropical fruit. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. I really went into this one not expecting much based on the description. However, what I found wasn’t too bad at all. The aroma was not very complex at all, but it had a nice balance and intensity going on. The flavor was a little lacking based on the aromas balance as it was almost completely dominated by sweetness with all the fruit going on. I really wish there would have been a little bit of an earthiness going on to help balance it out. Glad I got the chance to try this one as it seems like Flat 12 is doing good things.

Shared with the Carolina crew for Charlotte Tasting 2012. This is Half Cycle with apricot. This beer pours a light bodied apricot orange, fittingly enough, with a slight white lacing. The nose is sweet with some Belgian yeast character and a light hoppiness. The flavors are of sweet apricot marmalade, Belgian yeast, and moderate hoppiness. The apricot is pretty sweet and does dominate the beer, holding back the hops in both the nose and flavor. It's a little jammy. Overall this was a decent beer but would benefit from perhaps half the apricot marmalade flavor.
