The beer pours motor oil black with 1/2 an inch of dark tan head that fades into a thin layer of swirling oil that gently coats the inner glass leaving a light brown sheen. The coffee beams through in the beer's aroma - rich notes of caramel, freshly ground hardwood - it definitely has a lot more sweetness than spice (but certainty isn't cloying). The taste is an incredible flood of coffee on the palate, with the same rich caramel-like sweetness upfront followed by a hint of fruit (bright berry) and a semi-dry, bitter coffee finish. It's Coffee>>Stout. The mouthfeel is heavy (compared to a thinner body in the non-coffee version), is devoid of carbonation, velvety smooth, has hidden alcohol, and finishes a tad dry with coffee bitterness coating the palate. This is definitely a slow sipper, I would have preferred to share the 750 (instead of dome-ing it), but I do not regret the $16 spent...I'm glad I grabbed another bottle to open next weekend, but I'm not sure if I should hit the beer with a spot of half&half and serve @ 190 degrees in a styrofoam cup or serve slightly chilled on a cold winter night....

Batch #3 bottled Dec. 2014(11.5%). Poured on 12-31-14 at close to recommended 54 degrees. I was impressed with this beer from the pour. Poured extremely viscous black and created a massive 3 finger head. Smelled the coffee, roasted malts, and a little alcohol. Great alcohol legs that "stain" the glass brown. Flavor has the roasted malts with coffee. The bitterness from the coffee lingers in the mouth after a silky smooth offering. The only real downside to this beer, if you want to call it that, is that there is an alcohol presence in the beer. Would recommend and will pickup again if it is available.

Black in color with no chance for any penetration to light. There's a fingernail of khaki colored head around the rim of the glass and a third of the middle. Brussels lacing. Intense coffee aroma dominates the nose. The flavor is much more subtle with bitter dark coffee and and intense dark malt and some roasted barley. The mouth is dry and crisp. This version uses Chelelektu coffee.

Rich coffee aroma, caramelized plantains and roasted almonds.
Dark chocolate, intense dark roast coffee, light plantain sweetness.
Smooth and full bodied, creamy texture with lingering coffee bitterness.
Full flavored and full bodied with a rich coffee intensity.

L: pours thick and black with no head.
S: rich sweet coffee. Smells strong coffee with sweet cream. Man oh man this smells great.
T: nice coffee and sweetness. This sweet cream flavor mutes the coffee to balance it all out. If you like cream and/or sugar in your coffee, your'll love this.
F: decent thick and smooth. The flavors fade fast though.
O: a great coffee stout, but I would prefer more coffee and less cream.
