Purple bottle from who knows when...very American saison. Nice grassy notes balanced out w some bubblegum sweetness, but not very clove...more spice to it. Pretty easy drinker...very classic w a nice flavor. Nothing really sets it apart but it is very good classic saison.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a stemmed glass. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-orange body, one finger white head, good retention, lots of lacing. Smell is moderate lactic acid, straw, light hay and grain, light funk. Very straightforward American saison. Flavour follows; grain, light funk, straw, mild lactic acidity. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, good carbonation, crisp with a straw and acidic finish.

Bold, bright and earthy, a taste of the rustic farmhouse makes its way into Missouri. 2nd Shift brewers reign in the characterful yeast that promote a spicy, dry and earthy session with winey and oaky aura that surrounds the senses.

Pale straw and with a hint of rust, the frothy ale carries a visual weight that's richer than usual. Lightly turbid, the ale leads with dry citrus and orchard fruit, a spicy tingle in the nose and suggestions of sourness. Its pungent perfume is something of the barnyard while its taste is bright with fresh baking bread, fruit and grain sweetness.

As the taste develops, the sweetness trails and the earthiness remains. Fruit flavors tighten into a dried taste of weathered limes, lemon, apple and orange. White grape and melon trail with a spice-forward balance of peppercorn, coriander, cumin, oak and sod. Glimpses of hay and cellar-like oakiness keeps the session earthy and woodsy.

Trending winey, spicy , bitter and earthy, the beer's near-sour finish pushes the envelop for even saison. Medium-bodied and semi-dry, the beer's creamy texture keeps the fruit and grain balanced against the spice and earth. An aftertaste of wheat, wood and wine remain past the sweetness and fruit.

Pours a clear, gold color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Poor retention and poor lacing. Smells of strong bacterial funk, yeast, pale malt, alcohol, strong fruit, and a hint of wheat. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong bacterial funk, yeast, hint of liquor, pale malt, alcohol, strong fruit, and a hint of wheat. Overall, weak appearance, good aroma, body, and blend.
